Haraam Question

The God's message and the messengers wo deliver it do one thing, they help us understand that EVERYTHING is interconnected and restricted by LAWS. You have to look at what you plan to do, for example, be cruel to animals, and then figure out what the short term and long term effects will be. The God says we should be those who have faith in the ending time(so called last day). To me, the ending time is always happening, it is the EFFECT of our causes and we are continuosly judged at these times by what our hands put forth.
Regarding alcohol, the God tells us there is more bad than good, but there is good. So we have to find out what is good and what is bad. We come to find out that alcohol is used for medicinal purposes, even drinking it, but it can be addictive, and therefore can be easily abused, become a crutch. The God makes us aware of this and tells us to refrain from the excess.

We all know what is right and wrong based on the "fruits ". The God points us to cause and effect and then tells us to CHOOSE. Do we need a commandment not to jump off Mount Kilamanjaro? No, the God just puts the law of gravity in effect, which even 8 month old children start to become aware of as the hold on to objects to keep from falling.

But I'm still stuck in a way.
I'm trying to work out whether you are punishable for doing something "wrong" lets say taking steroids. It does make you moody and we as humans know the bad effects but would someone be punishable for taking it as its "wrong" or are you only punishable for the haraam things mentioned in the Quran. Maybe i'm looking too deep into this and not "steppin" back and looking at the bigger picture ?

I think you're not looking deep enough. One of the hurdles I feel we must overcome is in looking for the cookie-cutter format of religion. I mean no disrespect, bro, but look at what you're asking.
If you ponder on this subject long enough, you can come up with the answer. It has nothing to do with what is listed as Haraam or Halal. It has everything to do with using your intellect and listening to your heart.
Using the steroid example, I can tell you from experience with a lot of my friends that the benefits are completely superficial. You might get ripped for a while but what happens is once the cycle is completed, you start to lose your pump. And then you have to take another cycle. And so on until you either come to your senses or until your body shuts down in one form or another. You quickly become physically and mentally dependant. I know a 22 year-old that survived 2 heart-attacks, and he still does steroids.
And what exactly are you doing to your body? You are triggering the release of hormones which are, by design, not meant to be triggered in the intense and rapid way steroids accomplish their goal.
So you need to ask yourself why you want to do what you want to do. If it's steroids, then your goal is probably to get ripped. Why? To impress chicks? To be bigger than the next guy? To gain athletic performance?
Do any of these answers help in the development of your soul?
That's what it's all about, bro. What you do in this life is imprinted on your soul, and completely exposed in the next life. It's not about how much punishment you will get in the future, it's about what kind of damage are you doing to yourself right now. Every decision makes an impact, and the rewards/punishment are self-inflicted.

- "sunni" muslims think just because something is not mentioned as Haraam in the quran does not make it right to do. If something is wrong doesn't necessarily have to be Haraam. I assumed myself if something is mentioned in Quran as Haraam it is bad for us. But I've been thinking is there something that is bad for us but God didn't make Haraam himself therefore we have to avoid e.g Alcohol/Drugs. I know God says Quran is fully detailed and complete
Quran is fully detailed and complete for those who seek ILM from HIM alone. What you gathered in your assumption, soul-searching is effective. Bad in one's opinion about anything is haram for himself. For example, "I don't digest eggs" means eggs are made haram to you for a time fixed. Once we get our sins forgiven, due to increase in the ILM from Him, we overcome the bad and haram becomes halal to you by His Leave.
I do agree with your point above.
BUT for instance take cruelty to animals. I can't find a verse in the Quran which says do not do this so if someone does it will they be punished since God didn't make it Haraam. I'm sure i'm missing something very simple which will help me get my head around this but I just can't think. PLEASE HELP!
Allah says there are benefits from animals. So use it for purposes and not for sport and pleasure. Do not even hunt for bravery or for pass-time. Atleast use it for food! And, for the rest of its use 'seek ILM' from Him, so that you shall be pardoned.
- Is Alcohol Haraam? But then again we can not forbid something if God hasn't forbidden it which from what i've read of the intoxicant verses God hasn't made it Haraam. So i'm at a dead end ?

Whatever Allah says has to be digested in one's mind, always seeking from Him His ILM and get going at ease with whatever allah had allowed as the WAY, the WAHY, without fear or worry. You must remember you are following allah by seeking only from HIM and so Allah shall never punish you for what you are doing now or for what you have done earlier to the contrary. Sincerety is all important that we do not twist the TRUTH as it dawns upon our mind to suit our deceitful and desirous mind. Seek refuge from shaitan always. No Wory! Nor Fear!

But there are things mentioned in the Quran that are Haraam. Yet somethings like Drugs is not haraam. So we use our intellect to estabilish whether its beneficial to us or not. But if we do use drugs will we be punishable or will it gow down as a bad deed for us in the next life.
I'm just trying to estabilish things that are not forbidden and whether we are punishable in the next life for doing them or possibly we see the outcome of doing it in this life.

Exactly! We always weigh our options while keeping Allah in mind. When you keep Allah in mind, you cannot cheat yourself.

Here's the way I see it bro.
I try my best to always remain conscious of 569......whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, and helps people, for them shall be no fear from without, nor shall grief touch them from within.

If you kept Allah in mind in your life, and you helped people, you were good to your family and friends and strangers, and you were conscious that your decisions were directly affecting your soul, then you will be glowing, and you have nothing to fear.
Don't think of the Hereafter as a checkpoint, where an angel sits there and reads you your list of good deeds vs. bad deeds before deciding whether or not to let you through the gates of Heaven.
Think of it as the moment we are all exposed. Every soul will be exposed. And each soul will appear as the manifestations of our decisions. Those that have prepared will evolve into the next phase, whatever that may be. And the simplest way to prepare is to do good, whenever and wherever you can.
