Hello
-
I was lurking in this forum for sometime, and I decided to finally start posting.
I'm a rather 'liberal' Muslim, and I believe in a Quran-alone approach to Islam. I live with a family of stauch Sunnis which does lead to a multitude of disagreements and problems between me and them. As for how I started to be a 'Quranist', I used to be a 'Sunni' though I was always a liberal when it comes to my religious beliefs. However, I sort of discovered Quran-alone as an approach to Islam, and I'm starting to question many of the assumptions and traditions associated with the Islamic religion.
I hope that I can get some help to answering these questions here.

Peace DinodudeEpic,
I'm posting if only to say, I love your username. Nice and quirky. ) Welcome to the forum, hope you find information of value here. Sorry to hear that your family feel that way, you never know... in time they may come to believe. Although only Allah swt truly knows as He knows what's in our hearts and so on.
May Allah swt bless you with His Mercy and Protection

Peace,
Welcome to the forum. And I am also sorry about your family. There seems to be little tolerance and openness among those who have embraced sectarian islam.
God bless you

welcome to this forum which is full of free-and-open-minded people.
I hope one day your family would also embrace the true Islam and denounce sectarian "Islam".
Alhamdulillah you have found the true Islam. May all of us be on the right track.DinodudeEpic

The name was just some random name that I thought of in the past. I have been to many forums, and I sort of decided this as my universal username since it was the first.
Ironically, I don't even like the word 'dude'.
And yes, I have a preference for species of Clade Dinosauria that lived in the Mesozoic era. Though, it is not as obsessive as my username would suggest to you.
Of course, I know the definition of liberalism, and I honestly forgot why I put it in quotation marks to begin with. And, I won't forget about God, of course. It is just that I think we need to use both rational thought free from old Arabic traditions and dogmatic scholars and a personal connection to God to figure out for ourselves what the Quran means.
I hope you all have a nice day.
