You just lift your head up and rest on your chin. At least I think so. It kind of reminds me of old paintings of servants bowing down to their king.

Yeah, there is different intepretation of ayat 7109 by members in here.
I know if or adqhan in 7109 means chin not face (wadjah).Some Quranist say if 7109 is allegorical and not commandment of sujud and some Quranist say it's commandment of sujud.
If it's commandment of sujud, I don't what kind of movement of sujud will be ?
Maybe I will take your suggestion or maybe I will sujud like in picture khodr provide.

It may be allegorical in the sense that "they fell upon their chins in prostration" shows the overwhelming state they were in when worshiping Allah. How Godfearing they were. Think of how a servant would bow down when he is in fear of displeasing the king.
I dont think it necessarily means we are to do it. But perhaps Allah just shows us an example of how far his believers would go for Him. In fact, maybe He is telling us He wants us to have that level of khushoo3 or taqwah that compelled them to fall to their chins.
By the way did anyone ever try doing it on the chin? Not in the very least comfortable. Very straining and it makes me shake. It is also hard to move my lips at the same time. But i manage it. It kind of makes me feel like how a Muslim should struggle for Allah, in a physical form. It feels more humbling as well.

It might that you still wanted to have eye-contact with the one you prostrated in front of in ancient time when prostration was a common respectful and humble greeting. Just an idea though.
