People sometimes say that by looking into details you miss the "big picture". But, in this case, it seems "the big picture" is obscuring understanding the details.

I'm not sure I get the point of this line of discussion. As I understand, Allah speaks to humanity (because the Qur'an was revealed as a guide for all humans, though some will refuse to follow it's guidance) through Muhammad so that he may serve as a guide to us, or Allah speaks directly to Muhammad, so that he may serve as a better example to us, through his personal practice. It has been clearly pointed out that there are instances of both forms of communication in the Qur'an, times where Allah speaks to Muhammad, as well as times when Allah speaks through Muhammad, and it is my understanding that at all times the message relates to humanity as a whole, because that is who the Qur'an is being revealed for.
The fine details and the big picture... are One and the same. How do we look at one without seeing the other?
Too much attention either way is the problem, not what has been stated. That is why balance is so important and heart perception is so much more reliable than intellect.Iyyka naAAbudu wa-iyyka nastaAAeen(u)
That's the Thee, You, Hu, He that... we... need to focus our attention on.

I am also in agreement that the God speaks to "muhammad" and through "Muhammad", but that ANY of us can be "muhammad" (appreciative one).

if i recall well i saw in my dic. few years ago that anaalayli wa atrafanahari is an idiom meaning "always"....
"before sunrise and before sunset" might be the idiom as well, this particularly, because imo we have similar idioms throughout the book
bukratan wa aseela
bil gadati wal ashiyyi
bil ashiyyi wal ibkar
and similar
Usage of these expresions(context) imo clearly points that they are idioms denoting continuity and frequency rather than the particular times which they literarly mean (morning and evening)

unfortunately i am not capable of giving the most precise translation of these expressions, aproximately they shuld all read "morning(s) and evening(s)" or "early in the day and at the ending of the day"

Qala rabbi ijAAal lee ayatan qalaayatuka alla tukallima alnnasa thalathataayyamin illa ramzan waothkur rabbakakatheeran wasabbih bialAAashiyyi waal-ibkari
He said "O my Lord! Give me a Sign!" "Thy Sign," was the answer, "Shall be that thou shalt speak to no man for three days but with signals. Then celebrate the praises of thy Lord again and again, and glorify Him in the evening and in the morning."

So Zakariya came out to his people from him chamber He told them by signs to celebrate Allah's praises in the morning and in the evening.

They will not there hear any vain discourse, but only salutations of Peace And they will have therein their sustenance, morning and evening.

Waqaloo asateeru al-awwaleenaiktatabaha fahiya tumla AAalayhi bukratan waaseelan
And they say "Tales of the ancients, which he has caused to be written and they are dictated before him morning and evening."

Wasabbihoohu bukratan waaseelan
And glorify Him morning and evening.

Faisbir inna waAAda Allahihaqqun waistaghfir lithanbika wasabbihbihamdi rabbika bialAAashiyyi waal-ibkari
Patiently, then, persevere for the Promise of Allah is true and ask forgiveness for thy fault, and celebrate the Praises of thy Lord in the evening and in the morning.

Litu/minoo biAllahi warasoolihiwatuAAazziroohu watuwaqqiroohu watusabbihoohu bukratan waaseelan
In order that ye (O men) may believe in Allah and His Messenger, that ye may assist and honour Him, and celebrate His praise morning and evening.Waothkuri isma rabbikabukratan waaseelan
And celebrate the name or thy Lord morning and evening,best wishes

Alnnaru yuAAradoonaAAalayha ghuduwwan waAAashiyyan wayawma taqoomu alssaAAatuadkhiloo ala firAAawna ashadda alAAathabi
In front of the Fire will they be brought, morning and evening And (the sentence will be) on the Day that Judgment will be established "Cast ye the People of Pharaoh into the severest Penalty!" -

Verse 20130 is addressed to the prophet and not to the followers, and if you praise Allah five times there is no harm, but better if you remember and praise Allah ALWAYS.A similar verse is addressed to the prophet and not to the followers.

from 209 to 2099 God explain or tell the real story of Mosses
We thus narrate to you some news from the pastgenerations. We have revealed to you a message from us.
The object of telling mosses history is clear by 2099.From 20100 to 20135 my observation is that the this part isaddressed to the Prophet Mohmmedthe proof is the following verses
They ask you about the mountains. Say, "My Lord will wipe them out.
surely no one is asked me or you guys about the mountain but Prophet Mohammed was asked
Most Exalted is GOD, the only true King. Do not rush into uttering the Quran before it is revealed to you, and say,
"My Lord, increase my knowledge."
i think the message in the above verse is clear
Therefore, be patient in the face of their utterances, and praise and glorify your Lord before sunrise and before
sunset. And during the night glorify Him, as well as at both ends of the day, that you may be happy.
i think this is only for the Prophet Mohammed because if God will have want to address every one God will specifically use
the term ya ahilusina amnu
Say, "All of us are waiting, so wait; you will surely find out who are on the correct path, and who are truly
guided."
again specifically God is addressing the Prophet only
