42.23: "No Reward do I ask of you but the love of near of kin"

Can anyone explain, how are we supposed to understand aya 4223?

Sahih International
It is that of which Allah gives good tidings to His servants who believe and do righteous deeds. Say, , "I do not ask you for this message any payment only good will through kinship." And whoever commits a good deed - We will increase for him good therein. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Appreciative.Yusuf Ali
That is (the Bounty) whereof Allah gives Glad Tidings to His Servants who believe and do righteous deeds. Say "No reward do I ask of you for this except the love of those near of kin." Surely, God is Forgiving, Thankful.According to Shia Muslims, the 'near of kin' is refering to the Ahlul Bait, the relatives of our Prophet.
As I have understood, Sunni Muslims are divided, some of them agree with Shia Muslims, others (especially the Salafis) have great hate against Shiite Muslims and say it has no relation with the Ahlul bait.
Both traditionalists do nothing but quote Hadiths, traditions and tafsirs ... brickwall
Anyone any idea?

In this case there isn't word on to help Mohammeds' relatives but your own.
If there is any "my relatives" in the sentence above (in arabic ofcourse) I assume. Helping our own relatives is stated few times in Quran.That's my meaning, please check yourself ..
But God knows the best -)May God increase our patiente and knowledge.

My understanding here is that the prophet is not asking them for any PAY, but expecting them to at least SUPPORT and RESPECT him for being their blood relative.

Why confusing this?? We reject hadith, so why we must confusing if Ahlul Bayt is Nabi Muhammad's family.As Quran Alone we may reject this term.
Literal meaning of Ahlul Al Bayt is People of the house and appear in ayah 3333.This means we also people of the house (if we have house hehehe).In Free-Minds translation Ahlul Bayt in 3333 was translated as "People of Sanctuary".I don't know why Mr Layth and his company translated like that.
Now we look in verse 4223
BLUE word= Likeness/wish/love in family.
Because Sunni-Shia intepretate the Quran based on hadith, so it's not strange if they intepretate AL-Qurbaa as Nabi's family.
But if we look in that verse, even just by a translation, we will know if that verse is never mention anything about Family of Muhammad..It's just like Ahlul Hadith intepretate "deen" in 2256 as "Islam".But actually verse 2256 is not mentioning Islam, instead only said deen (system).

In 3332, the Quran addresses the women of the prophet, and in 3333, the Quran implicits that they are (or are part of) the Ahlul bait. What do you want to reject?

See 3332-33 as mentioned above. Also, notice how the sentence in 4223 starts with Qul ('Say', and how the first few words are written in the "I" / "me" form. The same person who is saying this sentence (Qul / say), is asking for the love of Qurbaa.
The word Qurbaa comes from the word Qareeb (Qa Ra Ba), which means close or near. In this context it means close relatives.
So it seems the questions are
- who is the person reciting this sentence?
- which Qurbaa?

Yes you're true if Ahlul Bayt in 3333 reffering to Prophet's family.Plus that term also appear in verse 1173 and 2812 which also reffering to people of house.So it seems the questions are
- who is the person reciting this sentence?
- which Qurbaa?
Let's we expose ayat 4223

"I do not ask you for any wage, except that you show compassion to fi (among) relatives (Qurbaa)"I think the Qurbaa in this verse is an idiom/expression.
This is like you said to your friends "C'mon we must united, we must work together, cause we're family"
Is this means you and your friends literally a family? Not right.The second is Prophet said "I do not ask you for any wage".Is this means Nabi ask wage from his family??
The answer is the following verse (4224)
Or do they say ?He has fabricated lies about God!? Had God willed, He could have sealed your heart. And God erases the falsehood and affirms the truth with His words. He is fully aware of what is in the chests.
From this verse, we know who is the people Nabi Muhammad talking to in 4223? The answer is the kafirs.
So the conclusion is there is 2 possibility Al Qurbaa is an idiom
Al Qurbaa is the kafir's family. -

Logically how can you "show compassion" to the deceased family of Muhammad? By praying to them who are living in heaven like Catholics pray to their saints in heaven?
