I am Riaz Syed from Orlando, Florida.

I had known about this site since I'd corresponded with Edip a long time ago and also read the 'Reformer's translation'.
I came looking for the Monotheist translation, which is probably better than the Reformers ?I didn't mean to start every sentence with 'I'. It just turned out that way...

Yeah I also love the Monotheist Translation. Traditional translations especially Muhsin Khan's give me migraine yuck

Yuliana - I've tried various, so far I have been using Pickthal for my daily reading. But yes I want to check out the Monotheist translation.

Muhammad Asad's translation is quite good for a mainstream one. If I look for something non-sectarian I read Reformist, Monotheist or Rashad Khalifa's translation (except that the latter is filled with lots of nonsense parentheses and footnotes, although easy to read). I think the translation by Abdullah Yusuf Ali is decent due to the reason it is often literal but is not an easy-reading due to archaic language (his translation is from the 1930's). However sometimes I like reading old-fashioned English so I pick up this one or the old King James Bible I have -)
Like someone mentioned, Mohsen Khan's is among the worst translations available due to its heavy bias. It is filled with information of preconceived nature often based on his own understanding derived from hadith and tradition.
Very literal translations can be good if you try to learn Arabic which may be good for someone who wants to see the Truth for himself. However, I think one does not really have to learn Arabic just to worship/serve God. Some people even mock others due to their lack of knowledge of this language like as if God's religion is limited to a certain people who know God's "holy" language. "Thinking with the heart" is the best way of serving God through living by His system.
