    Salaam,

This week I came across a little nice shop where I entered to search some stuffs to make some special food.
Then, one little glass box containing grilled spicy grasshoppers has been shown to me.
Firstly I smiled for a moment, I didn't know that in France we are going to eat grasshoppers today...
Then, when I asked for the reason why we should begin eating insects now, it has been answered to me "Insects are the food for the days to come, since the population of the Earth increases and increases, there will be not enough production to feed everybody, so insects are a good alternative so far"

In parallel, I found out that there are insects which contain a big pourcentage of proteins (sometimes even more than lentils for example) - I try to find out again this information and quote it here.

Now, what would you say about eating insects? What does the qur'aan say about eating insects as an alternative to a difficulty of producing bovine meat and proteined vegetables?

You can give also, eventually, your opinions/sensitivities about this matter.

    Thank you

      peace,

261 - ...indeed, you will have what you have asked.

we should be aware of God for what we are asking for?

      peace.

        Salaam DrGm,

I just went to look at the translations of the verse 261 and I don't find the part "indeed, you will have what you have asked".
What do you mean with "we should be aware of God for what we are asking for?" ?

I think maybe you misunderstood what is happening.
The facts are that certain food-processing industries are studying certain species of insects as potential food in the years to come if the quantities of bovine meat become insufficient due to the increase of the human population on Earth.
Then, they found out certain species of insects as an alternative to replace bovine meat in our plates.
Nobody would have asked to eat insects, food-processing industries are just on their way to capture and sell insects as an alternative to bovine meat if this one becomes insufficient to feed people.

ALLAAH. swt, forbids only four items to be eaten as food.
          1). Carrion.
          2). Running blood.
          3). Pig's meat.
4). Meat of animals sacrificed in the name of other than ALLAAH, swt.

          See verse 6145 below.

Say, ?I do not find, in what has been revealed to me, anything prohibited for anyone who eats it, unless it be carrion or blood that pours forth, or flesh of swine - because it is impure - or there be an animal slaughtered sinfully by invoking on it the name of someone other than Allah. However, if anyone is compelled by necessity, neither seeking pleasure nor crossing the limit, then your Lord is Most-Forgiving, Very-Merciful.?

          Peace,
          Khalil

Eight, no need to allow what has not has been forbidden.

              Salaam,

              Thank you for your answer.
According to the part of verse embolded above, if there is an inability to produce bovine meat, then muslims would be compelled by necessity in eating insects for example, if the food-processing industries propose them in bigger number besides bovine meat.

                Salaam,

You understood that insects have been not forbidden to eat, are they allowed to eat like bovine meat has been allowed for example?

i meant, we should be asking forgiveness to Allah if we happen to hear or see unwanted things. if we accept the unwanted then it is bound to happen. if we fear for it, it is distanced from our life.

116 - There is no living being on earth whose provision is not guaranteed by GOD.

2960 - It is Allah who feeds them and you for He hears and knows (all things).

                  peace.

                    Salaam,

I see what you meant now, thank you for your clarification, and for quoting the verses about provisions.
