    Peace...

The only discussions which are worthy my consideration and time, are those I have with fellow colleagues and professors who are demonstrably competent in these area's.

This is probably the most arrogant statement I have ever read in this forum.

The content of your "best ever written text on this subject" is obviously nothing new to anyone here. The same old chestnuts we had to deal with over and over again.

Please read the follwowing articles by brother Wakas and ponder if your position is really as strong as you seem to believe

Disproved once and for all salat = prayer

      peace all,

There seems to have been a forum glitch and my last two posts got deleted from this thread. It seems some others also.

In any case, I just said

      Stand towards the qiblah (2144, 2149, 2150)

The word "salat" is not in those verses.

And that "wusta" does not exclusively mean "middle" and pointed the thread author's attention to
      http//mypercept.co.uk/articles/meaning-of-SuJuD-from-Quran.html
And if he could cite his strongest objections/problems with the work, so readers can decide for themselves etc.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

          Peace all

          NO OFFENCE TO ANYONE

          Salat means obligatory daily prayer.
          (CORRECT)

Salat is prescribed to be done 3 times per day (morning, evening, and night).

(INCORRECT) TWO salat, SALAT AL FAJR and SALAT AL EISHA. Name the THIRD PRAYER and if your refer AS SALAT AL WUSTA in verse 2238 then that verse says HAAFIZ for both SALAWAAT and AS SALAT AL WUSTA and HAAFIZU SALAWAAT has no relation whatsoever to AQIMUS SALAT. Read the verses that contain the word HAAFIZ in the Quran.

I want to learn ?HOW TO GUARD THE TWO, THREE OR FIVE RITUAL PRAYER? Is there anybody who can teach me?
And more importantly, do you know that the BELIEVERS (239) and the MUSALLEEN (7034) GUARDS their PRAYER. Then why again to GUARD the PRAYERS to the BELIEVERS? I may not be a true believer, but there are many true believers and they know how to GUARD the PRAYER, let them come forward and demonstrate it.

In the same way the BELIEVERS (235) as well as MUSALLEEN (7029) are the GUARDIANS of their PRIVATE PARTS, and this I know and I believe all MANKIND also know how to GUARD their private parts. If GUARDING of the PRIVATE PARTS is known by everybody, then why the hell the BELIVERS do not know how to GUARD the RITUAL PRAYER? Allah says that SUCCESSFUL BELIEVERS ARE THOSE WHO GUARD THEIR PRIVATE PARTS AND PRAYERS, it means no BELIEVER is SUCCESSFUL because he does not know how to GUARD the PRAYER.

Salat exists out of 3 physical postures; qiyam (standing), ruku3 (bowing), sujud (kneeling down) which are implemented 4 times qiyam-ruku-qiyam-sujud.

(INCORRECT) Prove your RITUAL SALAT via QURAN and not HADITH or OTHER SOURCE.

Salat ends at the sujud, while the front head is still on the ground. When u lift it up, salat is over and u can start with dua.

          (INCORRECT) Prove via Quran

Salat exists out of one unit (known by traditionalists as 'rak3ah&#039.

          (INCORRECT) PROVE via QURAN

Salat can be shortened (and is comparable to what traditionalists call 'salat at tilawah; going directly from qiyam to sujud).

(INCORRECT) If you are quoting 4101 then remember the prefix preposition (word) MIN which is omitted in all translations of the Quran. Try to translate with the word MIN. (SHORTEN FROM THE SALAT). In the absence of any details in the Quran regarding the RITUAL SALAT, what are you going to SHORTEN FROM THE SALAT?

Salat can be done riding, sitting, or laying down, by which the physical postures do not apply.

(INCORRECT) What is the FEAR in 2239 that forces the believer to pray on foot or riding and if the fear is of the enemy (although in the verse it is not so) then will the fear of the believer subside or vanish while he prays on foot or riding? Whether a believer PRAYS while STANDING, or ON FOOT, or RIDING he is always an easy target of the ENEMY. There is none yet who has demonstrated the prayers while RIDING. Give me one instance where any believer has ever prayed riding and remember that the commands of the Quran are for all times to come and not for today or for the past. If today nobody is praying either on foot or riding, then why the hell is this verse still commanding to the believers to pray on foot or riding? Your foremost task is to quote the KIND OF FEAR in 2238. I am waiting for the reply since year 2001 FOR THE KIND OF FEAR. Allah has not mentioned the KIND OF FEAR in the verse. It is simply ?IF YOU FEAR?

Salat can only be done in a physically clean state; the 'wudu' is not ritualistic or symbolic, but practical, as is tayammum (dont underestimate sand, even stones and metal are polished by it).
          (CORRECT)

Salat can be missed, but cannot be catched up with. When it is missed, repentance is necessary.

(INCORRECT) If you are quoting verse 1959 then have a look at the word BELIEVE. Think WHY a BELIEVER after missing the RITUAL SALAT CONVERT him to a DISBELIEVER and after that he has to REPENT and BELIEVE AGAIN. There are THREE acts that convert a BELIEVER to a DISBELIEVER and one of the three acts is mentioned in this verse.

Salat has no tasleem at the end, this is unquranic and forbidden. It is a form of shirk.

(CORRECT) I only agree TASLEEM to be unquranic. I do not agree to it as a FORBIDDEN act or it is a SHIRK

Salat has no tashahhud at the end, this is unquranic and forbidden. It is a form of shirk.

(CORRECT) AND THE SAME AS ABOVE

Salat has no dua in it, dua is done after it (regardless of the fact that the end of sura al fatiha is a dua of some sort).

(INCORRECT) Read verse 339/40/41. What was ZACHARIAH doing while he STOOD in his RITUAL PRAYER? Was he reciting some verses from the BOOK which Allah gave him? Was he reciting SURAH FATEHA? What the Angels did while ZACHARIAH stood in his RITUAL PRAYER. When and how did his RITUAL PRAYER ended?

SALAT is DUA for HELP refer verse 338 ZACHARIAH asked help from Allah
And seek HELP through patience and PRAYER, and most surely it is a hard thing except for the humble ones 245

There is no friday prayer. The 'prayer of the congregation' is mentioned conventionally, and is pointing out to a prayer which happened to coincide with a well-known social event. This prayer is simply the evening prayer (maghrib), which happened to coincide with the market before the evening of shabbat. The verse is not about a new prayer or way of service, but about weighing the priorities between spiritual and material interests.

How days are expressed or written in Arabic? It is based on the count of the numbers. It starts from Sunday (YAUM AL AHAD) then ITHNAIN, THULAATHA, ARBA?a, KHAMIS, then it should be YAUMAL SITTA (but instead we fund YAUM AL JUMA?a) and SABT. In the light of the above JUMA?a is not a FRIDAY but a day of gathering. In SALAT we SAY refer verse 443 and if everybody SAYS in the FRIDAY PRAYER then it will become a fish market

Salla 3ala has nothing to do with salat. s-l-w 3-l-y is call for or invoke or send blessings.

(FIRST PART CORRECT) Try to understand verse 3356. It is something which Allah and HIS Angels are doing towards the Prophet and the BELIEVERS also CAN DO IT. But when we say ALLAA HUMMA, it means O Allah send your blessings, so indirectly it means we cannot send blessings to the prophet directly without the help of Allah and for this this we revert back to Allah to send blessings on the prophet. This is ridiculous. Do you think that Allah will respond to my invoking, when I invoke to HIM to send blessings on the prophet,? Even if Allah sends blessings on the prophet NOW then what is the blessings of ALLAH in WORDS and how it will benefit the prophet? Remember the errors of the prophet are forgiven and prophets never commit crime and the prophet is promised the MAQAME MAHMOOD and beyond this, what you expect from Allah to the prophet through invoking for sending blessings?

There is no prayer for the dead; there is calling/invoking/sending blessings to the dead.

(FIRST PART CORRECT) What BENEFIT will the DEAD receive from YOUR invoking to Allah? Is HE going to forgive him or make him enter JANNAH?

Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth is Allah's; and whether you manifest what is in your minds or hide it, Allah will call you to account according to it; then HE WILL FORGIVE WHOM HE PLEASES and chastise whom He pleases, and Allah has power over all things 2284

Can your invoking change the WILL of Allah?

There are no extra prayers outside of salat.

          (CORRECT)

Salat consists out of the recitation of quranic texts.

          (INCORRECT) Refer verse 339/40/41

Salat may only be directed to God. Recited texts may not contain direct references to prophets, angels, djinn or people, and must be directed to God alone, preferably, in the 2nd person singular.

          (FIRST PART CORRECT) Rest conjecture.

Salat has to be done in a monotone voice, not too loud or quiet

          (CORRECT)

Salat is preferably to be directed to the qibla, but this is not an absolute necessity. It is meant for convenience.

(INCORRECT) Show the word SALAT from verse 2142 to 150. If not then how you came to the conclusion that the verses are in the context of RITUAL SALAT?

          Salat is for remembering God.

          (CORRECT)

Praying alone is better than to pray in public or with others.

(INCORRECT) Refer verse 443 WHAT YOU SAY. You SAY in the Prayers and not RECITE or READ and the listener to your SAYING is Allah and none other than him. If in a congregation prayer everybody starts SAYING then it will become a fish market. Remember Zachariah SAID to Allah and the Angels replied and SAID to Zachariah on behalf of Allah WHILE he STOOD in his RITUAL PRAYER.

          Summary

          Cleansing (56, 443, 2011-12) (CORRECT)

Stand towards the qiblah (2144, 2149, 2150) (INCORRECT)

Start reciting in a monotone voice (17110).(CORRECT)

Only recite that which is directed directly to God (2945, 7218, 4065, 17110, 436, 18110, 7220), like al Fatiha or al Ikhlas.

(INCORRECT) All ?QUL? are the ANSWERS to the mankind (believers and disbelievers) it cannot be recited back to Allah because we say in our prayers and Allah listens to it. Can we command Allah to Say something which he has commanded the prophet to say to the people. Think about it

Bow over while praising God (subhanaka wa-l hamdu laka ya Allah, 3215)

(INCORRECT) Traditional Muslims conjecture, cannot prove from the Quran

Return to the previous posture as logical phase between bowing and kneeling down (26217-219)
          (INCORRECT) CONJECTURE

Kneeling down, while praising God (subhanaka wa-l hamdu laka ya Allah, 1598, 3215, at which a verse or sura can be recited, on the condition that it is only directed to God)

          (INCORRECT) CONJECTURE

End of salat while in the posture of kneeling down (4102).

(INCORRECT) Read 4;102 meticulously. It is not revealed in the context of TRAVEL PRAYER but in the context of STRATEGY OF WAR.

DARABTUM FIL ARD what actually it means.

O you who have believed, when you go forth in the cause of Allah, investigate; and do not say to one who gives you peace "You are not a believer," aspiring for the goods of worldly life; for with Allah are many acquisitions. You were like that before; then Allah conferred His favor upon you, so investigate. Indeed Allah is ever, with what you do, Acquainted. 494

And when you GO FORTH (TO FIGHT) in the land, there is no blame upon you if you REFRAIN FROM THE SALAT, if you fear that those who disbelieve may PERSECUTE (treat cruelly or unfairly especially because of race, religious or political belief) you. Indeed, the disbelievers are ever to you a clear enemy 4101

What is the command for the PERSECUTORS in the QURAN?

And FIGHT WITH THEM UNTIL there is no PERSECUTION, and religion should be only for Allah, but if they desist, then there should be no hostility except against the oppressors. 2193

IN 4101 What is the COMMAND. Refrain from the SALAT. Replace the SALAT to COMMAND. What you get. REFRAIN from the COMMAND of FIGHTING WITH THEM while marching forth in the land (for fighting) if you fear that the disbelievers might PERSECUTE you.

4102 is contrary to verse 4101

4102 is full of ARMS, WEAPONS, BAGGAGE, PRECAUTIONS; these indicate WHAT, Travel or WAR?

When u stand up, the salat is over.

          (INCORRECT)

Now one can start with dua, but again only directed to God; only He can hear prayers (576, 2620). Prophets cannot hear you, they are dead (218 ), but God is ever-living (255.

(FIRST PART INCORRECT) Refer verse 338/39/40 (REST CORRECT)

It is better to pray alone (755, 2271), in order to prevent the susceptibility for vanity, arrogance and pride(7206). This will ease praying in humbleness and submission (231-2).

(FIRST PART CORRECT) REST NO COMMENT.

          THANKS

All my points raised are INVALID according to you is because YOU DON'T HAVE THE ANSWERS WITH YOU. (IF YOU CALL YOURSELF AN EXPERT, THEN PLEASE REVISE YOUR THINKING)

SWIMMING IN A POND OR A LAKE DOES NOT MAKE YOU AN EXPERT SWIMMER UNLESS YOU KNOW HOW TO SWIM IN A SEA OF HIGH TIDES AND LOW TIDES.

In a fair discussion the questions are asked and views are expressed but to run away from the discussion without giving answers to the questions, with the excuse that articles are censored, is a sign of hypocrisy, childishness, lack of basic knowledge of the Quran and pride.

Before deciding to run away please answer my questions which I had already asked you.

PROVE THE RITUAL SALAT AND ITS DETAILS VIA THE QURAN (DO NOT QUOTE HADITH OR OTHER SOURCE

PROVE IN 2239 "WHAT IS THE FEAR"

PROVE THAT VERSE 4100 AND 101 IS REVEALED IN THE CONTEXT OF TRAVEL.

DEMONSTRATE THE TRAVEL PRAYER ON HORSE OR CAMEL OR DONKEY. HOW YOU PERFORM IT OR HOW THE PROPHET PERFORMED.

PROVE THAT WE HAVE TO FACE A PARTICULAR QIBLAH DURING THE PRAYER VIA QURAN.

TAKE MY CHALLENGE. NEITHER YOU NOR YOUR TEAM OF RENOWNED ARABIST CAN ANSWER ANY OF THE ABOVE QUESTIONS

When my article is finished, p2p reviewed by a team of renowned Arabists, and publicized, then you may ponder on your reaction.

In Hindi / Urdu language there is a phrase "ANDHON MEIN KAANA RAAJAA" (A EYED BLIND IS THE KING AMONG THE BLINDS)"

IF YOUR TEAM OF ARABIST GIVES YOU A GREEN SIGNAL TO YOUR ARTICLE AFTER REVIEWING IT THEN THE ABOVE PHRASE APPLIES TO YOU AND YOUR TEAM OF ARABIST.

I have said earlier I was not going to write here anymore, cause of censorship. So that you know.

WHAT A LAME EXCUSE TO RUN AWAY FROM A FAIR DISCUSSION. TAKE THE EXAMPLE OF DR. ZAKIR NAIK, (ALTHOUGH I DISLIKE HIM FOR UPHOLDING THE HADITH) HOW HE STANDS FIRM TO ANSWER A BARRAGE OF QUESTIONS SHOWERED ON HIM BY THE AUDIENCES. He never said to any audience that his questions are invalid and bizarre but tried to convince them through his knowledge based on Quran Hadith and common sense.

I need not ponder over my reaction because I know where I stand, but by reading your article on SALAT it took me only seconds to know that you do not have the basic knowledge of the Quran. If you had the knowledge of the Quran you would have answered my questions and made me silent. On the contrary you have decided to run away with a childish excuse. I really feel pity for you and your team of renowned Arabist who are backing you.

Next time when you jump in a sea please make sure you know how to swim in high and low tides

                  Thanks

                      Salaam hafeez.

Your points are not invalid cause I cant answer them; the lack of my elaboration on your ridiculous remarks is not the lack of an answer. It would be a lack of efficiency if I did.

As I said, this is a very good example of a major problem perceived among 'sola-scriptura' moslims; the discourse is over represented by people who by far do not posses even the basic competences to treat the subject.

Your baseless and truly embarrassing rantings, many of which are totally unknown to the rules of Arabic grammar or etymology, are way out of the league of this topic, and quickly betray your lack of knowledge of not only Arabic, but also a sound methodology and even English.

I mean, your remarks on 4101 and the preposition 'min', I mean o my God or the utter nonsense concerning 'fear' in 2239 and your ridiculous question 'prove what is fear', come on. Lifting the tip off your lack of sound methodology with the remarks 'I agree', I mean... its not about agreement at all! You can not even count, bringing you to the conclusion that in 11114 only two salaats are mentioned regardless of the grammatical rules which hit you in the face and give you a technical knock-out, I mean, oh my God what is this where I have landed in. Not to mention the virtual mess about the meaning of the word 'wusta'... its truly sad.

If I would waste my time and energy on every arrogant ignoramus, I would have to charge money for it and become rich in no time.

As for your last remark, it applies to you when you ditched the sunna. You dont know what you have started with, you underestimated the implications, and now you think you are a scholar cause u have a fixed view. Guess what, its not about views and becoming a scholar means paying 10 thousand euros at least and study at a renowned university, being subjected to methodologies which have been tested and fine tuned over and over and over again, being exam-ed therein and proving ur competence. Its about ascertainment through research which is subject to sound methodology. Perhaps you are better off with your friend Zakir Naik, and his speech about his 'fact of evolution' game of semantics, you certainly fit into his characterization of 'reasoning'.

Many people think that learning Arabic is enough to understand the quran (originally it was), but data is only one side of the coin.

Without a sound methodology, data is worthless. Tens of thousands of sunni and shia clergymen throughout history prove this point.

Theoretically speaking, knowing Arabic (which you clearly do not) would suffice to understand the quran. Would it not that Arabic

                      • Has been contaminated by theologic terminologization
                      • Has been contaminated by popular terminologization
                      • Needs the application of different methodologies in semitic studies to recover the meanings of many words which have been twisted by the above mentioned processes
                      • Needs to be approached professionally instead of by amateurs because of the above mentioned processes
                      • Can only be effectively understood and applied by people who are aware of the above mentioned and live up to its demands.

After these steps, the difficulties do not end. Now you have to analyze the text using a sound methdology which deals with ontological and epistemological questions, and practicing a multi-disciplinary approach (thats why the quran encourages to learn from creation in order to understand the implications of the quran) to get as much as understanding from the quran as one can.

The language barrier which has been created, must be teared down together with invalid methodology first before one can analyze the text. And in the process, all incompetent actors have to be strictly kept away from the discourse created.

                      @Faruk

All the claims of egoism or whatever on my side; being clear against nonsense is not any of that. Its justified and should be the norm.

                      @Man of Faith;

Focus on the arguments, not on the person behind them. You fail too in practicing a working methodology to filter relevant data from nonsense.

                      @Wakas

I dont believe glitches are person-specific.

No one here can ever invalidate my conclusions, and that is not because they are mine, it is because they are in line with the data available and the research conducted.

Unfortunately you can not verify all my argumentation, reasoning and proof, but that isnt even necessary. We are not discussing rocket science here. The subject of salaat is not the major difficult subject sola-scriptura muslims do not seem to be able to clear out because of some reason. This assumption only lives at the ignorant. With all the indicators I have left behind, anyone should be able to reconstruct what I have concluded (be it that their methodology is scientific and their knowledge of Arabic is sufficient).

Sounds arrogant? So be it. I find it as arrogant as stating the world is round. It may insult a lot of people, that then is their problem.

The only discussions which are worthy my consideration and time, are those I have with fellow colleagues and professors who are demonstrably competent in these area's.

I agree with much of what you say, but your delivery is awful (no offense intended)

Are your posts directed at your colleagues and professors here at free minds, or are
you addressing your colleagues, professors and us common folk?

Please continue with your dissertation, but for the sake of the audience give up the
snarling, offensive arrogance if you can, but if you cannot, then continue anyway.

                        God bless

                            Peace...

Guess what, its not about views and becoming a scholar means paying 10 thousand euros at least and study at a renowned university, being subjected to methodologies which have been tested and fine tuned over and over and over again, being exam-ed therein and proving ur competence.

What if those tested methodologies are not as good as you think? At least they were constructed by the same people who even stick to stupid hearsay stories which btw actually state that the earth is not round. Shouldn't this make you think?

But if you like academic methodology so much, which isn't a bad thing of course, you should love the precise methodologies you learn by studying mathematics. Mathematical methodologies are absolutely superior to those of so called human sciences which are a little wishy-washy from the perspective of a mathematician.

Brother Ayman has a mathematical Ph.D. and he draws totally different conclusions than you do. This is because in mathematics you learn to use logic in its purest form and unfortunately academics from human sciences seem to lack this logic very frequently.

Please study brother Aymans works in Arabic and let us know what you think http//www.quran4peace.org/

I am only responding here because you sound extremely arrogant , and it shows that you didn't learned much from your conclusions .I don't know if you didn't realize that yet .

Even if you have exclusively the keys of the heaven your attitude is simply very Poor

Are you sure no one here can invalidate u'r conclusions ?
Are you sure all you conclusions are 100 % correct ?
Are you sure you miss nothing ?
Are you sure your attitude and arrogance is for someone who hold knowledge and guide people to the right path ?

No need to say ad hominenm or bla bla bla cause i'll show you some of your invalid conclusions , and just to tell you most of what you concluded been said here or known by many , anyway you add nothing new to my knowledge i just feel sick when i read your arrogance and your lake of humility . do you know that what you think you posses as knowledge value nothing simply because of u'r attitude ?

Regarding u'r so called academic level which you throw here and there as reference , the one who bring and spread this message and the knowledge, which you think you are the only possessor , never put foots in a formal school !

Anyway , wait for some arguments.

                                        Hi people!

It is better to pray alone (755, 2271), in order to prevent the susceptibility for vanity, arrogance and pride(7206). This will ease praying in humbleness and submission (231-2).

Would you kindly let us know how this experience of praying alone worked out for you? Do you think you are a more humble person now than before you did your research on salat? After all we are not only interested in what salat is but also like to know how a particular version of salat can bring in measurable changes in a person that contributes towards positive moral development.

Perhaps some day, my whole article, complete with all substantiations, reasoning and proof, will be presented here.

Until that day arrives, my suggestion would be for you to focus on the verses you have quoted above. That you have spent 1000s of Euros learning your trade is of no value to the forum members. This information contributes nothing to the discussion of salat. Instead of claiming to have used a certain methodology please share it to that we can learn from it. In the academic circles, your opening post of claiming to have found the holy grail of salat would be laughed at simply because it lacks in substance. Try getting an article titled 'I know what salat is and I will share it with the rest of you Ignoramuses soon' published in a peer reviewed journal and see how that works out for you.

If you claim to be a professional, please act like one and post your finished product. Until then, you really should not be adding anything to this thread simply because it is clear you do not have the skills to engage in a respectful debate with your fellow forum members. You should also learn the distinction between a public forum from an academic one. It was your choice to start a thread here and not the other way around. If you consider the members here to be incompetent, simply do not post and go back to your friends in the academia where livelihoods are a function of remaining politically correct and not venturing far away from the mainstream.

The only rational response to this post would be for you to post your finished article. Anything else would be construed as fftopic
