Being a Muslim
-
Peace friends,
I guess my question is how does one become/be a Muslim according to Koran alone? I ask because I'm more familiar with Sunni/Shi'a ideas that you must say shahadda, must pray five times a day, must attend mosque on Friday, must do all kinds of additional stuff like some even say walk through doors with the correct foot forward.
I don't believe this is Islam. Its obvious traditional additions to make religion harder when the Quran says God's wish is to make your religion easy. I guess my question is what is being Muslim by Quran alone? I sum. What are beliefs to hold, and things that must be done?
Is Muslim even a specific religion? Because I notice the Quran speaks highly of righteous Jews and Christians in places. The Bible is called previous scripture, and also a book of God.
I know this isn't a simple easy answer question perhaps, but I'd appreciate your answers/thoughts.

"Bible is GOD's previous scripture"
What kind of Bible did you mean? Present-Day Bible that includes New Testament?
A Muslim is a person who submits to GOD.
Keeping beards, wearing headscarf, wearing burqa, not listening to music for believing that it is forbidden have nothing to do with being a muslim / submitter.Thank you.

Usually, Islam refers to the religion, Muslim refers to an adherent of the religion. Deen refers to the system, and a muslim (small m) refers to a follower of the system. Islam was not intended to be a religion, but a system for righteous living. No follower of any religion is guaranteed success; no "religion" is superior to another before the Creator.
A person could did a ditch with a teaspoon, or they could use a backhoe--both will eventually dig a ditch. All monotheistic practices/religions/philosophies are means of "digging a ditch"; they all get the job done...eventually, ISA. Different people will have different levels of success with different equipment--for example, dynamite can dig a ditch or blow off fingers.
The system is far superior to any religion, ISA.
The system does not require a Shahada, but neither is it prohibited. Personally, I like the example of Abraham (peace upon all Prophets).
2130 And who would abandon the creed of Abraham except one who fools himself? We have selected him in this world, and in the Hereafter he is of the righteous.
2131 When his Lord said to him "Submit," he said "I submit to the Lord of the worlds."

Read carefully, take your time, and don't rush to extremes of any sort. Other people may attempt to judge you, but they aren't the Judge. Your honest intentions, best understanding, and best efforts will not go to waste.
May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you.
May the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace.peace
