Lahm - Halal and Haram
-
(i) Lahm -e - Khinzeer is Haram as is evident from the following verses
2173, 53, 6145, 16115
(ii) consumption of 'Lahm' extracted from 'Bahr' both with sweet as well as salt water appears to be permitted, as is evident from the verse - 3512
Apart from the above, is there any mention in Al-Quran about the 'Lahm' being 'halal' or 'haram'. If not, what makes us understand to construe that 'Lahm' i.e. Flesh of cow, bufallo, sheep, goat, camel, deer, rabbit, chicken etc. is permissible for consumption?
Kindly anybody clarify, I am bit confused.

2173 He has only made unlawful for you that which is already dead, and the blood, and the meat of pig, and what was dedicated with to other than GOD. But whoever is forced to, without seeking disobedience or transgression, then there is no sin upon him. GOD is Forgiving, Merciful.
6145 Say "I do not find in what is inspired to me to be unlawful for any eater to eat except that it be already dead, or running blood, or the meat of pig - for it is foul - or what is a wickedness, dedicated to other than GOD." But whoever is forced to, without seeking disobedience or transgression, then your Lord is Forgiving, Merciful.
16115 He has only forbidden for you what is already dead, and the blood, and the meat of pig, and what was sacrificed to any other than GOD. But whoever is forced to, without seeking disobedience or transgression, then GOD is Forgiver, Merciful.
However, there are other evidences
51 O you who believe, honor your contracts. Made lawful for you are the animals of the livestock, except that which is being recited to you. You are not permitted to hunt the game while you are under restriction. GOD decrees as He pleases.
54 They ask you what was made lawful to them, say "All the good things have been made lawful for you, and what the trained dogs and birds catch, you teach them from what GOD teaches you." So eat from what they have captured for you and mention the name of GOD upon it, and be aware of GOD. GOD is swift in reckoning.
55 Today, the good things have been made lawful to you, and the food of those who have been given the Book is lawful for you, and your food is lawful for them; and the independent females from those who are believers, and the independent females from those who have been given the Book before you, if you have given them their dowries, to be independent, not for illicit sex or taking lovers. And whoever rejects belief, then his work has fallen, and in the Hereafter he is of the losers.
587 O you who believe, do not make unlawful the good things that God has made lawful to you, and do not aggress; GOD does not love the aggressors.
588 And eat from what GOD has provided for you, good and lawful; and be aware of GOD in whom you believe.
596 Lawful for you is the catch of the sea, to eat it as enjoyment for you and for those who travel; and unlawful for you is the catch of the land as long as you are under restriction; and be aware of God to whom you will be gathered.
6119 And why should you not eat that on which the name of GOD has been mentioned, when He has fully detailed to you what has been made unlawful; except what you are forced to? Many misguide by their desires without knowledge; your Lord is fully aware of the transgressors.
6142 And from the livestock are those for burden, and also for clothing. Eat from what GOD has provided you and do not follow the footsteps of the devil; he is to you a clear enemy.
732 Say "Who has made unlawful the nice things that GOD has brought forth for His servants and the good provisions?" Say "They are meant for those who believe during this worldly life, and they will be exclusive for them on the Day of Resurrection." It is such that We explain the revelations for those who know.
1059 Say "Have you seen what GOD has sent down to you from provisions, then you have made some of it forbidden and some lawful?" Say "Did GOD authorize you, or do you invent lies about GOD?"
165 And the livestock He has created them for you, in them is warmth and benefits, and from them you eat.
16116 And do not say, as to what your tongues falsely describe "This is lawful, and that is forbidden;" that you seek to invent lies about GOD. Those who invent lies about GOD will not succeed.
2230 Thus, and whoever honors the restrictions of GOD, then it is better for him with His Lord. And the livestock has been made lawful for you; except what is being recited to you; so avoid the foulness of idols and avoid saying false statements.
2236 And the plump livestock, We have made them for you to be among the symbols of GOD; you will have benefit in them. So mention the name of GOD upon them in succession; then, once their sides have become still, you may eat from them and feed with them the poor and the needy. It was thus that We have made them in service to you, that you may be thankful.
Hope this helps!

l find a great many problems in the construed translations of Al-Quran by the respective great scholars. I may be wrong due to limited acumen that I have but I find lack of concept in the so called translations. Not even one of the translations I find up to the mark. It seems to me that each one of them has taken inspiration either from the books of Bukhari, Muslim or the like or from the Bible or so while attempting translation of the verses of Al-Quran. It appears that somehow or the other they have managed to throw a meaning of the words by hook or crook. The very spirit is largely found to be missing. Sometimes I strongly feel to put all the translations into a dustbin that they deserve the best. But due to lack of adequate alternatives, people are forced to go through utterly debilitate version of Al-Quran. All these views expressed by me are purely personal and not to be taken otherwise.
Coming to the point, none of the verses that brother Abdul Hadi put forth in his post seem to suggest that it is lawful to eat 'Lahm' of the cattle or livestock. Also, why the term 'Ana'am' has been construed as livestock on all occasions and not as gifts, is not understood to me. My point is when Lahm Khinjir was to be made haram, it was categorically mentioned. When Lahm Tariya from Bahr was to be made lawful, it was categorically mentioned. In the similar way, why Lahm of Livestock to be treated as Halal was not mentioned. Particularly, verses 24-33 of Chapter 80 of Al-Quran (8024-33) mention the list of food items for the human being, which lack Lahm. While verse 66 of Chapter 16 (1666) of Al-Quran gives clear indication that milk is the product extracted from the livestock are lawful for consumption, there is no mention about eating lahm of livestock anywhere in Quran. Despite the fact, it is construed as lawful on what ground??
Kindly anybody may like to explain the position with sound logic and oblige. Thank you.

Translations are not 100% on the mark. This being said, translations have brought many people to Islam--including myself.
In 2236, animals are being slaughtered and THEN eaten; it is obvious that it is meat that is being eaten.
Gifts that eat grass/vegetation (80312) are commonly known as livestock.
Lahm other than that from a prohibited source (swine, dedicated to idols, carrion, etc.) can be considered lawful on the grounds that it is NOT declared unlawful. The fact that it is not individually called out as lawful is moot.
AQ 824-33 does not mention meat, but neither does it mention milk. The fact that neither are mentioned here is insufficient (especially in light of other verses) to say that one or the other is prohibited.
In the cases of lahm khinjir and lahm tariya from bahr, change had taken place. Is there any evidence to suggest that other meat was once lawful but is not, or was once unlawful but is now lawful?
Livestock is composed of many parts. Is it expected that each "part" should be individually declared, or is it sufficient to say that the animal is lawful to eat? hmm
AQ 267-271 comes to mind. !
267 And Moses said to his people "GOD orders you to slaughter a heifer." They said "Do you mock us?" He said "I seek refuge with GOD that I not be of the ignorant ones."
268 They said "Call upon your Lord for us that He may clarify which it is." He said "He says it is a heifer neither too old nor too young, an age between that. So now do as you are commanded."
269 They said "Call upon your Lord for us that He may clarify what color it is." He said "He says it is a yellow heifer with a strong color, pleasing to those who see it."
270 They said "Call upon your Lord for us that He may clarify which one it is, for the heifers all look alike to us and we will, GOD willing, be guided."
271 He said "He says it is a heifer which was never subjugated to plough the land, or water the crops, free from any blemish." They said "Now you have come with the truth." And they slaughtered it, though they had nearly not done so.
Here is yet another evidence that meat is lawful.
5124 Has the narrative of the noble guests of Abraham come to you?
5125 When they entered upon him, they said "Peace." He said "Peace to a people unknown!"
5126 Then he went to his family and brought a fat calf.
5127 He offered it to them, he said "Do you not eat?"In any case, if one doesn't care for meat, don't eat it as a matter of preference. Heh, it leaves more for those that do enjoy nice things!
ALLAH knows best.

It hardly makes any difference if one follows a labelled Islam or whatever and boast upon given the position explained in verse 17, Chapter 49 of Al-Quran (4917).
But it does make a lot of sense, if someone are committed to make a quest to know the spirit of the decree of Allah as is expected though verse 18, Chapter 39 of Al-Quran (391. Of course that too is for one?s own benefit. Further Allah wants us make a sincere endeavour for increasing our knowledge by the leave of our Lord, as is expected through the verse 114 Chapter 20 of Al-Quran (20114) (Qul Rabbi Zidni ?ilma). It may be noted that ?knowing to know the known is not worth knowing? and sky is the limit for improvement, as far as I understand.
Does it look nice when one takes the translation of the verse of Al-Quran by a human on face value and consider it as a true substitute of Arabic Quran given the fact that no one can produce a Quran like the one in existence ( ِ (Quran ? 1788 refers) though it has been made easy to understand and comprehend (Quran - 4458 refers) who rely fully on Allah in terms of 7516-19? Particularly, through verse 73, Allah(swt) expects us to follow whatever is revealed to you from your Lord.
Coming to the point
In 2236, animals are being slaughtered and THEN eaten; it is obvious that it is meat that is being eaten.
I do not understand which term has been understood as slaughtering in the verse 2236 as the very term 'zibah' that has been used in 267-71 is missing. Also, the very term 'Lahm' which is popularly construed as Meat is also missing. It may be noted that in verses 2228 and 2234, ( ِ the terms 'Bahimati' and 'Al-Ana'm' have been used. Bahimati is understood as 'Beast'. 'Ma razaqakum mim' is understood as 'whatever sustenance from'. But most of the popular translations overlook the term 'Bahimati'.
http//www.islamawakened.com/quran/22/34/default.htm
As regards the verse 5126 ( )which is translated by the most of the scholars as 'Then he went back to his family and brought a fat roasted calf'. It is not practically feasible to bring forth a fat roasted calf in such a haste. As such we need to have a re-look at the present understanding of the verse and read with the verse 1169 ( ). It may be noted that Ayn-Jiim-Lam (ل is also construed as - to hasten, make speed, accelerate, be hasty, act hastily, hurry over, do speedily. Siin-Miim-Nun is also construed as vegetable fat (Margarine) as per Google Translation.
Given the above, will it be appropriate to consider the meat of livestock (two from goat, two from sheep, two from camel and two from cow) (6142-145)as lawful even if the concerned verses miss the crucial terms - 'Lahm' i.e. meat and 'Zibah' i.e. slaughter.
Kindly anybody explain the position and oblige. Thank you.

My words in your mouth.
And to those who are Jews We prohibited every animal of uncloven hoof; and of the cattle and the sheep We prohibited to them their fat, except what adheres to their backs or the entrails or what is joined with bone. that We repaid them for their injustice. And indeed, We are truthful 6146
The Jews were forbidden the animals with claws.
The cattle and the sheep were not forbidden for them except the FAT that adheres to their backs, or the entrails or what is joined with the bone. All other FAT besides these three places were forbidden for them because of their injustice.
In the same ONLY THE FLESH OF THE SWINE is forbidden, rest you can consume. You can eat the FAT of the swine or any other thing of the swine that do not fall under the category of FLESH.
There is no need to mention the FLESH of all animals that are allowed to be consumed because everything of all animals are allowed to consume.
SWINE is nor forbidden EXCEPT the FLESH. Allah's words are perfect
Alif. Lam. Ra. (This is) a Scripture the revelations whereof are PERFECTED and then expounded. (It cometh) from One Wise, Informed, 111
The above information is IS MY PERSONAL UNDERSTANDING, IF I ERR THEN PLEASE CORRECT ME.
PIG & PORK FACTS
THE pig or swine is a very popular food item with most Christians. Yet Christians are unaware that the God they profess to believe in had condemned the eating of swine's flesh. The condemnation was based on some very sound biological principles. Here are some facts on pork that prove it to be a very unhealthy food to eat
A pig is a real garbage gut. It will eat anything including urine, excrement, dirt, decaying animal flesh, maggots, or decaying vegetables. They will even eat the cancerous growths off other pigs or animals.
The meat and fat of a pig absorbs toxins like a sponge. Their meat can be 30 times more toxic than beef or venison.
When eating beef or venison, it takes 8 to 9 hours to digest the meat so what little toxins are in the meat are slowly put into our system and can be filtered by the liver. But when pork is eaten, it takes only 4 hours to digest the meat. We thus get a much higher level of toxins within a shorter time.
Unlike other mammals, a pig does not sweat or perspire. Perspiration is a means by which toxins are removed from the body. Since a pig does not sweat, the toxins remain within its body and in the meat.
Pigs and swine are so poisonous that you can hardly kill them with strychnine or other poisons.
Farmers will often pen up pigs within a rattlesnake nest because the pigs will eat the snakes, and if bitten they will not be harmed by the venom.
When a pig is butchered, worms and insects take to its flesh sooner and faster than to other animal's flesh. In a few days the swine flesh is full of worms.
Swine and pigs have over a dozen parasites within them, such as tapeworms, flukes, worms, and trichinae. There is no safe temperature at which pork can be cooked to ensure that all these parasites, their cysts, and eggs will be killed.
Pig meat has twice as much fat as beef. A 3 oz T bone steak contains 8.5 grams of fat; a 3 oz pork chop contains 18 grams of fat. A 3 oz beef rib has 11.1 grams of fat; a 3 oz pork spare rib has 23.2 grams of fat.
Cows have a complex digestive system, having four stomachs. It thus takes over 24 hours to digest their vegetarian diet causing its food to be purified of toxins. In contrast, the swine's one stomach takes only about 4 hours to digest its foul diet, turning its toxic food into flesh.
The swine carries about 30 diseases which can be easily passed to humans. This is why God commanded that we are not even to touch their carcase (Leviticus 11.
The trichinae worm of the swine is microscopically small, and once ingested can lodge itself in our intestines, muscles, spinal cord or the brain. This results in the disease trichinosis. The symptoms are sometimes lacking, but when present they are mistaken for other diseases, such as typhoid, arthritis, rheumatism, gastritis, MS, meningitis, gall bladder trouble, or acute alcoholism.
The pig is so poisonous and filthy, that nature had to prepare him a sewer line or canal running down each leg with an outlet in the bottom of the foot. Out of this hole oozes pus and filth his body cannot pass into its system fast enough. Some of this pus gets into the meat of the pig.
There are other reasons grounded in biological facts that could be listed to show why pigs and swine should not be eaten. But a true Christian should only need one reason why not to eat this type of food because God prohibited it.
"And the swine, because it divides the hoof, yet does not chew the cud, it is unclean unto you you shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcase." - Leviticus 117,8; Deuteronomy 148
Those who say Christ abolished the law condemning pork are motivated by their stomach not Scripture. The problems with pork are biological, and Christ never changed the laws of biology.
THANKS

Salaam,
If you study the Gospel testimonies you can clearly see that Jesus did not regard the swine highly. See the story when Jesus traveled by boat over to Gadarenes (which I think is Qatar) and he did something to the herd of swine there.
God bless you

Three types of 'Lahm' have been mentioned in Al-Quran viz. (i) Lahm-e-Khinjeer at 2173, 53, 6145, 16115 (ii) Lahman Tareeya at 1614, 3512 (iii) Lahm-e-Tairin at 5621.
Lahman Tareeya is associated with the animals that dwell and survive in water (both sweet and salty).
Lahm-e-Tairin is associated with the animals that dwell and survive in air.
Lahm-e-Khinjeer appears to be associated with the animals that dwell and survive on the Earth. Khinjeer = Swine = Pig, hog, boar, beast, Viper = beast, skunk, worm, animal.
Thus, I understand that a deep contemplation is required to get to know as to whether Lahm-e-Khinjeer is essentially = 'Pork' only or even something more than that.

Al-Quran sensitizes mankind through the verse 168, Chapter 2 (216 to consume ?suitable? and ?pure / hygienic? things that one receives from the Earth and not to fall prey to the bidding of rejected Satan for being an ardent enemy.
Al-Quran ordains people who have taken oath to remain faithful through the verse 172, Chapter 2 (2172) to consume pure / hygienic things from what is bestowed upon as provision and be grateful to Allah so as to prove oneself truly faithful.
Al-Quran warns people who have taken oath to remain faithful through the verse 87 of Chapter 5 (587) not to pollute/desecrate pure / hygienic things that are awarded suitable for us by Allah and do not transgress for Allah does not have affection for the transgressors.
Following the warning contained in 587, Verse 88 or Chapter 5 of Al-Quran (58 directs to consume suitable and pure / hygienic things bestowed upon by Allah as a provision and remain submissive to the Highest Authority to Whom one has chosen to remain bonded.
The point at issue is as to whether ?Lahm of Livestock or Cattle? meets the requisite criteria of being pure and hygienic to be suitable for consumption by the human.
A clear declaration has been made through the verse 145, Chapter 6 of Al-Quran (6145) with regard to the things to be taken as intake as below
Tell them 'I do not find in what has been revealed to me anything forbidden for anyone to take as intake except it is perished, unsecured blood and flesh of swine (= Pig, hog, boar, beast), because all of which are indeed unclean; or profane to be approved by other than the Highest Authority. But whoso is compelled, neither craving nor transgressing, indeed your Lord is Forgiving, Merciful.(6145)
Considered views on the issue are solicited. Thank you.
