How do Dreams work?

Quran is not a scientific book, but religious guidance. So Quran didn't spoke about it, even verses of Joseph.

Peace,
There are certain truths that I believe we can derive from the Quran about dreams
• They foretell the future.
• They are expressed using different objects, each object having its own meaning.
• Not all of them contain an expressed meaning.
• They are sometimes an expression of our fears and desires.
The last point is not derived from the Quran, although modern research on the subject indicates this.
Dreams are a fascinating subject, but they are impenetrable. Yusuf was blessed with the understanding of dreams. How fortunate a soul he was!
I began a study on dreams a few years ago, but alas, I don't think a single lifetime provides enough time to break the code of dreams.
