It is a tremendous relief finding this site, I know just what you mean greenleaves lol
When I originally joined the free-minds family, it came at a very opportune time when I had been researching Islam for time and had become disapointed by the discrepencies I kept finding between the Quran and the actual way of life of the muslim ummah.
It was this site that illuminated me to the distortions inherent within modern Islam, brought about through the invention and proliferation of hadith literature.
Through the assistance and friendship of all at Free-minds I have been able to find and live my life by God's divine system of life, as found in the Quran.
This system of life is that which has been ordained by God alone and requires no abridged commentary from any man, however lauded that man may be.
Peace be with you D

lol Yep, your story is similar to mine, except with me, after I found out something on the web, I then did a lot of book research and pestered people about what I had (or thought I had) learned. My bottom line was to put all my trust in God. Not always an easy thing to do! ) I too am so glad I stumbled onto this site, it has been extremely helpful.

Peace,
Thanks marie, pilgrim, dell1 and b-lansing!
The Internet did make it possible, of course with God's help to discover the truth for me.
Another good site is of course submissio.org - too bad they don't have any forums or message boards...I don't know of any more God-Alone websites.

it?s the same with me!
like many of us here I felt sometimes like an Alien. Being to much with the conservative Sunnis it removed me from Islam. Not being with Muslims at all and not being in contact with Islam made me sad. So one is sitting at home drawing his/her conclusions from his or her own thoughts but no ones there to argue with. So it was like a relieve to find free-minds.Does anybody know what happened to my lovely Avatar? I think from others here it disappeared as well. When I tried to reinstall it, there came ?error? !? Can anybody help?

Hello Warda,
Very Happy it?s the same with me!
like many of us here I felt sometimes like an Alien. Being to much with the conservative Sunnis it removed me from Islam. Not being with Muslims at all and not being in contact with Islam made me sad. So one is sitting at home drawing his/her conclusions from his or her own thoughts but no ones there to argue with. So it was like a relieve to find free-minds.So, I am assuming you are a convert too, huh? I always wonder why people convert to Islam/any other faith...you know leaving what you believed for so many years...not an easy thing for me to do (not that I am saying its bad you convereted, no...), but just wondering what made you convert (If I may ask)?
Does anybody know what happened to my lovely Avatar? I think from others here it disappeared as well. When I tried to reinstall it, there came ?error? !? Can anybody help?
\Ayyyy, I think the hackers deleted the whole database (or atleast the avatar db is lost)...my assumption is the backup helped recover this forum back.
Try uploading it again or you can do what I do and store your avatar on your web host (if you have a yahoo account, store it on like the Geocities file manager and then link it...if you wanna know, I can show you the steps).
Take care,

Salam Green Leaves
but just wondering what made you convert (If I may ask)?
of course you may ask
To tell you just the short form very very long ago I used to live in an Arabic Islamic country. Every time when I heard the Mua`dhin calling for prayers I was very touched. And I liked the way Muslims pray as I felt it the appropriate way to honour our Creator. Slowly slowly, I learnt more about Islam and felt attracted more and more (can I say so? ? )
It took many years until I converted in the mosque. I always felt that since there is only one God I couldn?t change anyway. However, when I was pregnant with my first daughter and we were going to have a little Muslim family I felt it was a good and pure situation to convert officially in the mosque. During all these years before I practiced Islam. What helped me a lot in my decision to concert was that there are quit many things in Christianity which I rejected, did not like or not understand for all my life. For example the trinity, Jesus as Gods Son, worshipping Jesus as God alike, worshipping figures made from wood in churches or elsewhere. I saw in Santiago de Compostela/Spain how people kissed the wooden figure of the ?holy Man? (sorry, forgot his name) who killed hundreds of Arabs. He was the hero with the sword and underneath his feet where lying the enemies (Arabs) bleeding, dying, suffering. This person is the big shot and a church was built in his honour. But of course this was just a side effect.
Try uploading it again or you can do what I do and store your avatar on your web host (if you have a yahoo account, store it on like the Geocities file manager and then link it...if you wanna know, I can show you the steps).

Peace all,
That's a nice story Warda! When I believed in Sunnism, there was a point in my life when I was 99% sure and ready to leave Islam because the faith seemed very savage to me. Thank God I came across Submission.org's page on why slavery was wrong and then I started exploring their site a bit more and decided to leave Sunnisim and believe in the real Islam. And here I am today )

Okay, since you already have a Yahoo account (an email account is just fine), you can follow the following steps (of course, these'd work with any host, but I use Yahoo because most of us already have email accounts with them).
1.) Go to www.geocities.com
2.) Type in your userid & password where it says "Yahoo! member sign-in" to the very right.
3.) I believe if you are new to Geocities, it'll ask you a simply survey about what your site is going to be about and all that...if it does, simply answer those questions.
4.) Then, you'll see a new screen and in the very middle it'll say "Build My Web Site"...now, to the right of this screen there's an "Advanced Toolbox" in purple, see it?
5.) In that toolbox, click "Easy Upload"...the upload window opens up...there?
6.) Now, click the "Browse" button and locate where on your computer you've stored your avatar...you know the C drive or the floppy disk...I hope you know where you've stored it
7.) Double click the image and it'll appear in the text box in the upload window...now click "Upload Files" button at the bottom of the window. That should upload your image (hopefully)
8.) Once uploaded, click the "File Manager" link...when you do, you should see your image listed in the file manager...see it?
9.) Now, click the "View" link next to its name...you'll see your pic...copy the URL in the Address box of your image.
10.) Finally, in your profile @ free-minds.org, at the very bottom where it says "Link to off-site Avatar" enter the URL you just copied for your image in the previous step.
11.) Click "Submit" and if all goes well...et viola! your image should be there...God Willing
Hopefully these should be helpful, if you are stuck...maybe I can do a screen-shot page idea

Peace,
Well, I don't have awesome experiences like the good folks here do, but this is there
Thank God for the Internet. If it weren't for the Web and the Net, I would never have been able to know if there was even a thing called "God-Alone".
Many thanks to Submission.org for being the first site I came across to guiding me towards the real faith.
Thanks to Free-Minds.org for their articles and especially this forum where I can meet sane and very nice people who make me feel like I am part of a big global family. I appreciate all your help here.
Thanks to open-minded, well-educated and rational people who made me revert back to Islam.
Last but certainly not the last thanks to you God for everything!
Remember we have to defend ourselves on the day of judgement.

Remember we have to defend ourselves on the day of judgement.
So, why are you worried about my fate? If I am doomed, its between me and God, who the he** are you?
Well said Shams

I'm just pointing it out because you have some erroneousness beliefs. Just doing some dawah
Call unto the way of thy Lord with wisdom and fair exhortation, and reason with them in the better way. Lo! thy Lord is Best Aware of him who strayeth from His way, and He is Best Aware of those who go aright. And on the day of judgement you'll wish you had chosen the way of the messenger, just like the quran says
- On the day when the wrong-doer gnaweth his hands, he will say Ah, would that I had chosen a way together with the messenger (of Allah)!
-
And on the day of judgement you'll wish you had chosen the way of the messenger,
you mean the way of the bukhary....
-
And on the day of judgement you'll wish you had chosen the way of the messenger,

Can you read...? it certainly is not the way of free-minds. I can tell you that for sure.
You know i've never understood why you people accuse imam bukhari. He was a late scholar of islam. We had enough scholars of hadith amongst the companions of the prophet (peace be upon him), taba'in and taba taba'in who compiled books of hadith. Check your history.

Thats not true. We have between 500-1000 narrations from Umar bin Khattab. And we have between 100-500 narrations from abu bakr. If you look carefully, then these sahaba have laid down the foundations of hadith criticism.
Read these book, because it seems to be your knowledge about hadith is not enough.

i did n,t ask u how many hadiths were narrited by these two big sahabis wut i wanna know is why did not they order to compile the hadith books if they think hadith is an authontic source of islam they would have ordered to collect the hadith like they order to collect Quran i guess for u Bukhari is far more better muslims than Umer, Abu Bhaker N usman who collect Quran but did not collect hadiths n another thing peoples who spend there whole lives with Muhammed could only have to narrited 500-1000 from Umer hadiths n 100-500 from Abu Bhaker but Abu Hurrera have to narreted 5000 Hadiths really strange peace
