Assalamu alaykum brothers and sisters
As a new member of this forum i would like to introduce myself.
My name is Berat, i'm 18 (almost 19) yo.
I live in Macedonia, but i was grown up and lived 14 years of my life in Italy. My family is and has always been a sunni one, but me and my family were not much of a practicing one (untill the last 2 years), we didnt pray, fast, etc. though we didnt eat pork, drink alcohol or do major sins.Around 2 years ago i had an accident with my motorbike, i was and still am a big fan of motocross
I got a surgery and had to rest allot, during this time i thought allot. Especially the purpose of my life.
This is when my religious search started, of course as a muslim (even though i was not a practicing one) i started to look for my answers in islam first, but unfortunately i had always doubts and didnt believe in the things i was being taught, mostly because i was reading more hadiths than the Quran itself. I read allot of the bible and a bit of other religions too at that time.
But the more i read, the more illogical i found the other religions, so i came back to islam because i knew from what i learned at that time there was something logical.
So my story goes on like this, i continued reading and finally i came to the conclusion there is a part of islam (as sunnis teach it) that doesnt make any sense. Everytime i had a question and searched for the answer in the hadiths i always ended up with more questions, and no answer was found.Though the Quran was not like that, everytime i searched for an answer i found it in there, so this is where i started to not believe the hadiths as part of this religion.
This was a critical moment of my life, because i thought i found the truth in islam (how sunni teach it) and it turns out there is still lies in there.
So i made a research on the net if we really have to trust hadiths, this is where i found out about Quranism (at that time i thought i was the only one that rejected hadiths as part of our deen).
So here i am here, even though it has been months i rejected hadiths i only found out about this forum recently.
Btw i am not a sunni nor shia since i reject the authority of the hadiths, according to them i am a disbeliever (i am called that one allot). I am not a follower of any sect too and i dont like to be labelled as a quranist, even though i am one. I prefer to be called just a muslim.
I think it sounds like some sort of sect, dividing yourself from the others sects, but as an idea and movement i am a quranist, the idea of rejecting the authority of hadiths. -
Salaam,
Welcome to the forum. Want me to be honest with you? I also rather call myself Muslim despite technically fulfilling the criteria for the term "Qur'anist". Unfortunately that is what people label you as despite denying it openly if they find out that you deny all hadith and only follow Qur'an.
First of all I follow reason and logic in my service of God; so any text which I deem bringing me closer to God I may spiritually use. Also God's creed is super-easy to follow in terms of criteria as you can narrow those down to only two. The help you can find from other texts is how to be "righteous", or good, the second parameter for salvation. But in fact Qur'an does a beautiful job at convincing the reader that God is really real and that the Message is from God. I was sold the first time I read Qur'an in the winter of 2009 and 2010 as I previously had only studied the Bible which I realized was partially inspired by God but it seemed corrupted somehow and I understood it thoroughly when I ran into Qur'an. Summary summarum I realized that God existed far before I read the scriptures for the first time; that is perhaps 15 years before now while contemplating our existence, and I was a monotheist much like father Abraham who also thought about creation while he tried to find out who God was. I was happy to see that my realization was true later on when I studied Qur'an.
People who are critics of God and Qur'an say that the book contains man-made errors, but I am sure those are caused by errors in interpretation and not that the physical written book contains linguistic errors. Apart from that it is very realistic considered it is written by a man in the 7th century BC who could likely not have had the knowledge of things so advanced for the time, but I am sure that if it seems like silly elaborations in Qur'an it was aimed towards an audience in ancient Arabia which required brief summaries of the scientific truth and which would not understand more intricate details. It is easy to judge a book based on those pretenses, huh? If we disregard these "problems" it speaks very much of the Truth and I understood immediately in 2009 that it was from God, this Message. It confirmed what I knew, although I was a "traditional Muslim" for maybe a year or two after I encountered it until I understood that the cultural and traditional practices actually are man-made and no "sunnah" prescribed by God. Recently I have reverted to the kind of person I was before it all started in 2009 in terms of "religious practices" although I pray more and am more aware of God. And recently I had intensified realizations that Islam is just simply a one-two step creed and everything else added to that is just human conjecture. Even "salat" does mean something entirely different from what traditional Muslims want to believe, while it has connotation to prayer its meaning is more vast than that.
The creed itself does not contain any particular prescribed uniform rites although one may show to articulate his Faith in various ways for God. Now this is of course my understanding of Islam, but if you wish to take a look at my perspective of Islam you are welcome to study my thread http//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=9605447.0. It is a one-two Islam with only two real assessment points which God looks at in the courtroom on the Judgment day when you receive your record either in the right or left hand. The Message is so simple the book is barely even needed if you apply intelligence although the book surely adds valuable tips and tricks, like a walkthrough to a video game and it can help you think about creation and come to the conclusion that God must be really real. See more about that in my thread if you care to read.
Once again welcome to the forum! welcome
Hope you find any use for what I wrote and not consider it just rubbish and in that case I apologize and sorry for the inconvenience.
God bless you

God bless you too.
And of course i dont consider it rubbish! I always take my time to read, i have no problem with that unless it is full of false information and propaganda. I am pretty sure it is useless to read things like that, unless you want to prove it is rubbish.
Anyway I just skimmed it and i think it is informative and will help me allot, thanks
I will check it out when i have time, right now i have to study and i dont have mich free time (because of university) -
Peace,
welcome
I am glad that there are more Muslims leaving sects and man-made teachings and embrace pure islam.
As for Sunnis in your area, do they even freking read hadiths from cover to cover? Do you tell them that hadiths contain so much violence, barbarism and nonsense?

@Berat welcome
On a technical note, the Qur'an contains hadith. One example
209 And did the narrative of Moses come to you?
Of course, extra-Qur'anic hadith have no place in the Deen.
ISA, your stay will be a fruitful one.
May ALLAH see fit to Guide all seekers.

Regards,
YulianaNope, tbh most of us here learned the relgion through what the imams teach us (i started to learn islam this way too), of course i am not saying that everything they teach us is wrong. But i always felt there was some falsehood in there, that is why i started reading myself and not listen to them anymore.
Btw in my country we have bigger problems then the differences between quran only, sunni, shia or whatever sect. I am going to explain some of them below.
For example I am lucky because i know english, you can hardly find hadith collections or other books written in albanian (my mother toungue) or macedonian. And because of communism in the history of Balkan, the generations before me didnt get enough education or none at all!
For example my father knows little english, while my mother doesnt know any word at all.Unfortunately the only one which can learn the truth about islam is the youth.
I am saying unfortunately because the majority of them (of course not all of them) even though they claim to be muslims they do quite the opposite of what islam teaches us. I can describe their lifestyle in simple words as sx, drugs and rock n' roll.
It is some kind of mentallity the people have, it is similar to the YOLO guys i see around the world, promoting drugs, being "free", sx, etc. because you only live once. And most of the people here "become" religious at the age of 40/50 and start praying at that time. Believe me this has became like some kind of culture here, the majority of the muslims (of course not all) do this and they are muslims because of the culture. For example these days one of our politicians declared that he doesnt know why he is a muslim, he said he doesnt pray, fast, etc. neither did his parents, but they taught him they were muslims and he is a muslim because of that. So beings a muslim in my place is more like national identity than a religious one.
These are the problems our country is facing, and this is why it makes me mad when people (mostly imams and scholars of islam) call me a disbeliever for rejecting hadiths, even though i try my best to work as the Quran teaches us. So i am the disbeliever, while the same people call the youth out there "misguided muslims".

Of course when i say hadith i am referring to the meaning we are tought by sunnis, shia etc. as a report of the deeds and saying of Muhammad (pbuh).
Not the meaning which is found in the Quran, actually the Quran is the best hadith (according to 3923) so i am not rejecting it PPeace be upon all of you brothers and sisters.

Salam Berat,
Welcome to our forum, this place has taught me a lot. I am Muslim and yet reject hadith, as well, just can't trust them in my opinion. This forum and it's people have been a blessing, even the posts with a different view, I have learned from. I am very active in my masjid, so I come here often to read. I am not confident to post as some others here, but I have grown a lot! May God increases your knowledge and shade you with his love and mercy on the day of judgement. - Ameen
