How I learned the truth
-
Let me keep this short...
I was born into a 'religious family' with strict Sunni beliefs. Our family moved to another country while I was growing up. Moving away provided new job opportunities for my parents and a higher standard of living. While here, I was able to interact with people of different beliefs. It made me question my religious beliefs and made me realize that my religion was not perfect. I've been searching for the truth since then.
I enjoy physics and mathematics. I've done a couple of online courses (MOOCs) about physics and computer programming. I'm currently thirteen and in middle school. I like the free-minds website because it allows you to be open about your beliefs and search for the truth on your own. There's no 'Do this just because you're supposed to otherwise you're not a Muslim'. Truth is the most wonderful thing in the universe and the journey for finding the truth is even better. It allowed me to dig deeper into my heart and to question myself without feeling guilty. Did that make sense? Did you feel the same way?

@qza welcome
Don't worry about being verbose. Then again, brevity is the soul of wit, right?
The individual stories here are diverse indeed! It is wonderful to use one's mind rather than fall into tradition. sun
I came to Islam while studying the Qur'an during a military deployment. I listened and interacted with Sunni, Shia, and Sufi--but within months came to realize that Islam based on the Qur'an only was the way for me, ISA. Before this I followed monotheistic Vedanta, something I embraced in my teenage years.
I also share an interest in physics; my particular interests are nuclear physics (especially aneutronic fusion) and applied physics (especially applications for harmonic frequencies). I also have some original concepts pertaining to nanotechnology. Feel free to shoot me a PM if ever interested in chatting...about physics or anything else.
Not with a sense of smugness, but don't you feel grateful that the Almighty has seen fit to Guide you? Sometimes I feel that what we perceive to be results for our efforts are actually Beneficence and Mercy from ALLAH. So many people only blunder through this world. '(
May ALLAH see fit to Guide all seekers.
