list of Quran information regarding salat
    http//mypercept.co.uk/articles/quran_on_salat.htm

in my view, one of the strongest arguments against salat=prayer
    http//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=9765.0

Also, I think we will create a thread in which additional information about "salat" is listed, but no specific understanding. So people can run their understanding through this filter, or just to see how it fits. If no-one has a clue what I mean, I mean something similar to this.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

Two good articles discussing salat timings and formalisation of salat from the earliest traditional sources, showing a two daily method and somewhat informal model originally
            http//www.scribd.com/doc/37518694/Uri-Rubin-Morning-and-Evening-Prayers-in-early-Islam-by-muslims (or here)
            http//www.scribd.com/doc/37518569/CH-Becker-on-the-History-of-early-Muslim-Worship-and-Salat-Prayer

For those who dont know, according to tradition, AFTER the alleged night journey (isra and miraj) by the prophet Muhammad, it became 5 daily. See here.

                  Salam, Peace,

I understand your frustration, but I always reply the same to people asking me the so called question "what does then salat mean? or how you do salat?"

my answer why are you asking me? You should ask The One Who can teach you about it, not me (or bukhari, muslim, any sheikh or imam) and in his book there is a clear guidance for the ones who have NO DOUBT about it.

just my 2 cent, I know you don't want to read more about it )

                    Peace brother Wakas,

Thank you for this good compilation. I also just posted Chapter 3 (the one about ?salat?) of the ?Quran for Peace? book on the book web site

                    http//www.quran4peace.org/documents/Quran4peace-English-part3.pdf

If the god willed, this will be beneficial.

                    Peace,

                    Ayman

During a discussion with a sunni about why the ritual salat is not found in the Quran , he raised the following point "The point here is these rival factions(sunnis & shias) were enemies since the Shia inception how is it possible for them to collaborate with each other to make Salaah with almost the same ritualistic movements?

                        Any thoughts?
