I personally don't see what is wrong with the tashahud except for the fact that it ask God to bless Muhammad in second person like "..to you, O prophet.." but when I recite it i just said "to the phrophet". Personally i don't even know why is it shirk when the queen of sheeba mention the name of Solomon when she told God that she submitted hence the quote "I submitted to You O God along with Solomon"(sorry i dont know what surah it is..lol) and in fact Marry's mother mention the name of Shaitan when she asked her Lord to seek refuge againts him. I f all of this is shirk wouldn't God condem them? I did not see God refuteing them...I just want to know what you guys think though..I mean i also belive that Hadiths are extremely questionable and I solely believe that the Quran is absolute book to follow. I even do my wudu like God said int he Quran to was my face, hands, arms..etc and not gurgles water or whatever or do it in the certain way..lol.

      Greetings and Peace, all group

3945 And when GOD alone is mentioned, the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter are filled with aversion; and when others are mentioned besides Him, they rejoice!

4012 This is because when GOD alone was mentioned, you rejected, but when partners were set up with Him, you believed. Therefore, the judgment is for GOD, the Most High, the Great.

2136 Say "We believe in GOD and in what was sent down to us and what was sent down to Abraham, and Ishmael, and Isaac, and Jacob, and the Patriarchs, and what was given to Moses and Jesus, and what was given to the prophets from their Lord; we do not make a distinction between any of them and to Him we submit."

2285 The messenger believes in what was sent down to him from his Lord; and the believers, all who believe in GOD, and His angels, and His Books, and His messengers "We do not make a distinction between any of His messengers;" and they said "We hear and obey, forgive us our Lord, and to you is our destiny."

384 Say "We believe in GOD and what was sent down to us and what was sent down to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Patriarchs, and what was given to Moses and Jesus and the prophets from their Lord. We do not make a distinction between any of them, and to Him we submit."

4152 And those who believe in GOD and His messengers and do not make a distinction between any of them, We will give them their recompense. And GOD is Forgiving, Merciful.

Peace upon ALL Prophets and ALL Messengers.

      ALLAH knows best.

      peace

The point is that when the Prophet is named khatam an-nbiyin, to me it does not matter whether it is one person or several or no person, it is prophecy that is spoken of, that is a reminder that we are from God and to him return and the prophets, remind us of it, so to salute profecy is an acknowledgement of the tie, real tie of God with us. He does not forget us he keeps in touch with us, by all means, inside us, and by prophecy inside us or in our societies. It is a fat of life, a fundamental fact of life, we salute and acknowledge and thank -God for that. There is no partner, there is the acknowledgement on our part of the messages of God, of His tie with us.

        Salaam

I agree with you though in not mention any ote r names besides God aka the shahdah. But why dont understand is mentioning names during salah like the name of the prophet since the queen of sheeba mention the name of solomon wasnt she? I mean if the intention is to ask GOD to bless them why would that be shirk? just wondering

I don't claim that this or that is haram or halal; no human has the right to make such a claim.

Imo, it depends on context. Mentioning others in prayer seems harmless so long as we are not asking those others for help. I would not personally single out any one Prophet or Messenger to ask the Almighty to bless--Peace upon them all!

May ALLAH see fit to guide all seekers. Are the seekers being worshipped? nope

            ALLAH knows best.

The question one should ask oneself is WHY one keeps mention a prophet. WHY? We should look deep within and dig out the REAL purpose. Is it perhaps fear? "what will happen if I don't mention the name?".

I hear people who say they do it out of respect for the prophet. I could never understand this, and to me it sounds like a lame excuse, and like unconscious fear. WHY mention a prophet's name out of respect? Obviously any sane person would respect ANY and EVERY good person, prophets included... but what is the actual PURPOSE of mentioning their names? The message do not belong to the messengers. The messengers didn't create the message. The Creator did.

                Peace

                  Peace.

Brother Zulf that is good common sense advice.

Respect all GOD s creatures, but GOD alone deserves the mention. The creator of everything, none should be mentioned with/besides Him. There is none like Him, The absolute one.

                  GOD bless.
                  Peace.

I agree that the purpose of prayer is to commemorate God not the prophet. But I don't see why mentioning names would be considered commemoration I mean like I said there is a verse in the Quran that the queen of Sheeba mention the name of Solomon while praying to God saying" I submitted to You O God with Solomon"( sorry I forgot what verse) so does this means the Queen of Sheeba commited shirk? I don't see God saying something to the Queen of Sheeba something negative. I mean if the intention is to ask God to bless a certain person why would that be haram? Again I believe that hadiths are questionable and I do my wudu like how God command us like washing only face, hands, forearms, rub our hair and feet to the ankles aND NOT MINDING HOW MANY TIMES..LOL. I also believe that art, music and dogs are not haram..lol.. and etc. Anyways just want to hear your views on this
