The only reason why religion need protection from ridicule is because it is ridiculous.
The only reason why religion need protection from 'falsehood' is because it is false in the first place.Just yet another example of Theocracy.
That's what happened when a bunch of Religionist / Sectarianist hold power. -
People should start using the Constitution to invalidate this "falsehood"
Declaring all those laws are null and void.. through NGOs or other means

The real problem of those possessing the vedas is they have earned the wrath of Allah, each and everyone has been earning the curse of Allah for they use the verses of veda to dispute and debate as means of whiling away the time in fun. Veda is for the individual to understand, correct and take to the straight path under the direct guidance of the All-Knowing and stand above others as the best model of the follower of vedas. If you follow veda this way, there is no need for debates.
Allah hates who speak Quranic verses without following them and He says His curse would be upon all of them 612,3.

I agree and it is primarily true in relation to Hablum Minallah and which does not harm the society, it is personal (42.15)
However, I believe there should be a balance..
ie. for the purpose of bringing balance and justice in humanity (Hablum Minannas)So do not obey the disbelievers, (ie. injustice etc.)
and strive against them with the Qur'an a great striving
(25.52)Islam is about "Peacemaking"
Muslim is about "Peacemaker"
and ad-Deen is about our "obligation" to bring peace and harmony in the society, regardless of religions, races etc
