Chewing During Fasting/Ramadan
-
So I was having a talk with some people on this topic
Is chewing gum allowed when one is fasting for Ramadan?
A person, like the majority of Sunnis, said NO! it is HARAM and then proceeded to say it has sugar and stuff in it.
But it is not like food or water as it does not even fill the stomach. Those who chew it during fasting never get satiated and still are hungry.
Another said it makes a good breath freshener when one's mouth is smelling during fasting and this is why they do it.
Now, I'm interested in hearing all your opinions- assuming that it's not going to be backed by sunni fatwas.
No fatwas, hadiths and sunni/shia thoughts please. We have enough of those on the internet. I just want to hear that others feel without being influenced by other sayings.
So what you guys think?

I think chewing gum should be avoided because you do actually consume the ingredients which give the chewing gum its flavour.
However, using toothpaste while brushing shouldn't be a problem because you spit out the toothpaste and you don't actually consume anything. Same applies to using mouthwash.
