    Peace all,

In my latest thinking I realised that the term "Quran Alone" is actually a label that we should steer away from. Aside from the reason that new derogatory labels are arising among traditional muslims for us of "Quranist", the term is actually itself insupportable in light of God's verses.

2285 mentions that believers have faith in all of God's revelations ie. books. To say "Quran Alone" defies this most basic requirement of a believer to accept all revelation.

I believe that the since the message is first and foremost uncompromising monotheism - that the term Quran Alone be dropped henceforth and that solely "God Alone" be used in the description of the Islamic monotheism we practice.

    Peace.

      Salaams Truth,
i think you are unto something, although the quran came as a lot of knowledge to our prophet, the inspiration or gods advice hasn't stopped and will continue for ever , and thus the humanity will continue advancing .And although the quran is 100% perfect, provided its translated correctly, its not the last message from Allah,Inspirations will continue may be in small fragments, or a whole book if ever their was a need.

But as Marie says Allah Knows Best.

      Thanks.

the word 'kutubihi' in 2/285 cannot be understood as books because Allah only sent one book at a time, al-kitaab (in 2/213, all prophets were sent with one al-kitaab). Please see 98/2-3 where 'kutub' could be understood as writings or writs.

            Salaam Truth,

In my latest thinking I realised that the term "Quran Alone" is actually a label that we should steer away from. Aside from the reason that new derogatory labels are arising among traditional muslims for us of "Quranist",

I understand where you are coming from, but we cannot escape this eventuality no matter what. The simple fact that we seek to establish our servitude to GOD on different grounds than the traditionalists will ultimately result in labels, descriptions and reputations/ways of thinking that will seperate us as GOD Alone believers from those who do not serve GOD Alone.

the term is actually itself insupportable in light of God's verses.

I would have to disagree with this viewpoint. In fact, I believe that it IS supportable in light of the Book of GOD.....

We place shields around their minds, to prevent them from understanding it, and deafness in their ears. And when you preach your Lord, using the QURAN ALONE, they run away in aversion.
            (1746)

Not to mention the numerous verses where GOD commands us to derive our guidance, laws and rulings from The Quran.

2285 mentions that believers have faith in all of God's revelations ie. books. To say "Quran Alone" defies this most basic requirement of a believer to accept all revelation.

Yes, this verse says to have faith and realize that previous writs were indeed revealed by GOD, but we all also know that these scriptures have been corrupted by the hands of men and that GOD never preserved or protected them. He tells that He will and have protected The Quran. That is the reason He revealed this scripture for all mankind. It has been revealed to consummate and confirm whatever truth is left in these other scriptures and to let us know what is incorrect or false in these other scriptures. Hence, the name Al-Furqaan, The Criterion or The Standard by which all else is judged. We get this from GOD's Book.

I believe that the since the message is first and foremost uncompromising monotheism - that the term Quran Alone be dropped henceforth and that solely "God Alone" be used in the description of the Islamic monotheism we practice.

I too like to use the term GOD Alone because it lets the world know in two words what we strive for, who we serve and what we are calling all people to. But at the same time, I do let others know that I follow Quran Alone for religious laws and guidance. Like Rashad Khalifa said, it's unlike any other book in the world and it's all we need.

            Peace be with you.

            GOD Alone/Quran Alone,
            Damon.

Dont make this movement a sect. We are simply Muslims. Not sunni or shiah, but Muslim.

                Peace Damon,

                You raise some good points.

I guess I see the label as being a statement of belief - rather than a statement of usage. 1746 states the using of Koran alone rather than belief in Koran alone which would contradict 2285.

Thus if any label is appropriate in all contexts then God alone meets the criteria. I agree with a view above that advises no labelling in general but where it's necessary, that God alone describes the position completely and unambiguously; and moreover without creating a demarcation line.

Who can argue with someone who says they believe in God alone and look to Him alone for guidance?

                Regards.

                  Salaam Truth,

You raise some very good points as well.....

Yes, I see your point my brother. However, I am not particularly looking at the term using Quran alone. What I am keying in on is the fact that GOD is pointing us in the direction of Quran Alone. So since He did not say using Quran and something else, but instead said Quran Alone, that's why I don't mind the term Quran Alone.

Also, I believe that it is a statement that GOD is making as well as we us as GOD's servants when refering to or using the Quran Alone as a source of guidance.

Thus if any label is appropriate in all contexts then God alone meets the criteria. I agree with a view above that advises no labelling in general but where it's necessary, that God alone describes the position completely and unambiguously; and moreover without creating a demarcation line.

I must admit, I agree with this statement totally and I believe you and I view this situation pretty much the same. The one thing that I'd like to point out is the mere fact that labels and division lines are 100% inevitable due to our differences of views vs. those who do not serve GOD alone. It's something that none of us can help nor control.

                  Peace be with you.

                  GOD Alone/Quran Alone,
                  Damon.

                    Peace be upon you Truth,

You are absolutely correct in your reminder. The word "quran" only means reading, something we read. If these reading comes from the God it will be truthful, containing no contradictions.

(1746) And We made/put on their hearts covers/protections that (E) they understand/learn/know it, and in their ears a heavy weight, and if you remembered your Lord in the reading alone, they turned away on their backs/ends hastening away with aversion

When we call to mind the God by means of TRUTH based on reason, they turn away, but if we bring some idol along with it, even an book raised in partnership with the God, they will start to listen.

The God descened the TRUTH, humans write it in Books. This reading was written by a human who was able to "talk to the God" , thats what a prophet is, one who talks to the God. This is what Musa teaches us, we can all reach this level. But there are those who kill the prophets, they don't want you to know you can do this.

So again, it is the God alone, not 'Quran alone", thats not even the Title of the criterion, just a description among other descriptions for a message that is above names from One who is above names.
