If love was a person, I would choke it to death.

Lol.. I have also mentioned that i use the term 'love' becoz the world is so used to it. So the kind of love 'love' represents, is just bullshit. And that is NOT the kind of love i have for my mother.

*pokes you really hard with a stick !

                          Hello Lote Tree,

I think love can be taught. And one can be trained in love. And if this even fails, one can act as if sh/e loves so that the effect on the loved person is the same.

This said, I think this works for all kinds of love except for love between man and woman. This one has to come naturally.

                            LK

That is true, you could care deeply for someone and still not feel that you are one, but if you do realise that you are one with that person, your feeling would elivate and you would know the absolute love which is not conditioned. I can prove that, however, it is a big topic, you would have to be prepared to read and understand a lot.

                            God bless

i sure would be interested even though my understanding of love comes more from life than from reading. May be because i have around 20 years more on the counter than many free-minders )

I think that love is the most important thing in life and that many of us would agree, may be even jaxal wink if we tried to define the word first...

                              Jaxal,
when you say love is dog crap, i guess you mean the love that is made mainly of egoism and possesiveness and mostly a love of your own ego even if disguised as "romantic" love. I don't even call this love. The French have a word for this "l'amour vache" - "cow love" but better translated as "mean love"...

Sounds good. And I am 42 myself. You can start by reading my thread ?What is love?? http//www.free-minds.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4166

I have been working on defining the meaning of many words lately. Love, because of its importance, comes on the top of the list.

This is very interesting, I did not know that the French had a name for that type of love. It is because I do not speak French I guess. Mean Love is also good and I also find ?Like? fits the meaning. French I guess. "Mean Love" is also good and I also find ?Like? fits the meaning. You like someone when he/she gives you satisfaction, but then you call this love. And when that someone stops satisfying you, you blame love.

                                Take care,

No i wouldnt wink . Love is an over rated word. Simple as that. There is NOTHING a person in 'love' will do that a person not in 'love' cant do. So love is simply over rated to somhow gratify the ego.

                                        Hi Jaxal,

Could you prove that there is NOTHING a person in 'love' will do that a person not in 'love' can't do. I know how easy it is for you to say that, and I know how easy it is for some people to think that you are right, however, the truth is, it is an ambiguous statement. Take two family men as an example, one who loves his family, his daughter, son and wife; and another man who loves only himself. Find a way to look closely at the two families and tell me what you think. Although this test is based on the individual performance, it could still show the universal harmony that exists because of love. And this harmony is there whether you could see it or not.
One day you would, I am sure.
                                        Take care

Here is the thing. WHAT is it about 'love' that makes the person in it (i.e. in love) stand out? Is it the horns on his head? A tail on his back? Tenticles? A sign saying he is in love around his neck? NONE. He is the same man as any random guy he stands next to. Can he care about his woman the same? Ofcourse. Can he care about his family the same? Ofcourse. Will he give his life for his family? Ofcourse. I would. If i was in a releationship, i would make it clear that i dont 'love' this person, rather, care for her well being. If that means givng my kidney or blood to her, i would. Do you agree with that? Not just me, ANY man can do this. Ofcourse the quesiton is, Is he willing to do it? Some men in love dont do it. Infact, Men and Women in love cheat on each other. So Love dont strenghten anything.

Take two family men as an example, one who loves his family, his daughter, son and wife; and another man who loves only himself.

I dont think that is a fair comparison. But how about this

MAN-A who 'loves' his family and his children and his dog and his cat and the whole shibang.

MAN-B who cares for the well being. Not in love, rather caring for the well being. I care about not steppingon an ant. I care about not hurting plants or flowers or animals. I hope you understand the difference.

Now, will these two men make the same decision if both their wives need blood ? Yes. Will both these men give their lives for their wife and children? Yes. Why wouldnt they? If MAN-A says that he will do it out of love, then MAN-B will say he is doing it out his care for the well being. Do you agree?
