I find that coffee affects different people differently. If I need to sleep coffee makes me sleep better, but if I do not want to sleep it rescues me from that state where you cannot sleep but cannot be feel completely alert. It sorts the situation, makes sleep or makes me not sleep, but I am not in the middle. I also find that the quality of the coffee makes agreat deal of difference, first in the taste and the pleasure of drinking it and then in the body. A good aromatic but not strong acid coffee makes the body fitter, bad offee is bad for the stomach.

    Salaam

One reason I love coffee is that its caffeine (like the caffeine in chocolate, or soda, or anything else) allows me to be more productive and ward off sleep. I especially love it with good baklawa.

One thing I will never get, why does anyone want to buy coffee that is caffine free? Its a bit like going to buy Baklawa without sugar? ;D

        Peace

I Love Coffee, I drink it everyday, and wish to not only Grow my own Coffee Field but also have my own Cafe.
            (inshallah).

Personally, I think that Anything could be made into a deliberate Intoxication.
Carrots are a wonderful food, too much of it and it can harm your body.
Same with Meat, or Water, or Coffee or anything.

The English word "Intoxicant" can really mean many things. It can mean Physical Intoxication,Mental, or Spiritual depending on what your looking at.
I would say that Coffee (in small amounts) isnt that harmful mentally, but could be harmful physically.

To me, I think Alcohol is an Intoxicant and then Anything else that is taken to much and harms you is also.

                    Salaam,
I love Coffee lol, but I am trying to stop drinking it less. I used to hate it in the beginning and then started liking it after few years. Now I can't stop it. In Some sites it says it has a lot of benefits and then some say it does not. -\

I have stopped drinking coffee regularly. Bad crap, gives a good mood temporarily until X hours later when you get a downer.

I insist that the quality of the coffe, the roasting, the preparation and the amounts used in the preparation have a lot to do with liking coffe and coffee benefits.

I do not like the most acid, not good quality I think coffee nor too concentrated, nor roasted with sugar I think they do it. I find a great difference between a natural roasted aromatic no too strong coffee and the opposite. The natatural roaste aromatic and not strong, I enjoy it a lot and it does good, you feel like after a good measured (as to quantities), and it is modt definitely the best final for satisfactory meal. You feel like a million and no undesired effects.
I used to drink three cups a day later I didn't like the third, so now I am at two cups a day that enjoy very much.

It is not intoxicant at all, but of course drinking ten cups of coffee a day same as drinking ten cups of tea, I would not advise, except in exceptional cirumstances.

Coffee is a blessing, no wonder it has conquered the world.

                        Salaam

I remeber when I was young I visited my grandma, she had made a big pot of coffee, and I had to drink it all so that it would not be wasted. Afterwards, I felt as if I had drunken much alcohol, my head was dizzy. So yes it can be intoxinating.
I used to drink coffee regularly and when one day I did not have one, I got headache. To avoi that, I urgently had to get my coffee, be it bad quality, and felt like a drug addict looking for the next shot. So now I try to drink coffee only once in a few days, and the very best, home-made one.

So true! I always thought that drinking coffee would help you stay awake but there were a number of times where it had no effect, I was just as sleepy as usual. So I thought, it must not work for me and never really thought about it that much or researched it mainly because it really wasn't that big a deal to me. Reading your post made me think and peaked my interest about how the quality of the coffee produces different results. I absolutely know nothing about making coffee but I want to know if you have a process or recipe for making a coffee that makes sleeping better. I understand that it may probably not work on me but if you have a way to make one I surely would like to try it.

                            Thanks and salaam

I use piston coffee-maker, amnual not electric. It is just a glass pot with a pistonwith a filter. You put the cofee in, pour boiling water and push the piston down and pour it.

I try differnt coffees of those readily available but "natural roast", the other roast gives it a bitter artiffial taste that I do not like.

I also do not make it strong, but I thing you may try different coffees and find out what you like. Also, if you put sugar or sweetening, try the right amount because that changes a lot the taste. But my mos important recommendation is that you, no matter how you do it, that you enjoy drinking it, that it becaomes a plasure for you. I think as long as coffee is not a pleasure, it is nothing. I really enjoy it.

If you enjoy it, and you are kind of sleepy it is probable that by the mere seeling of pleasure we may go over into peaceful slumber or wonderful dreams.

However I would no make any experiments after six our before you go to sleep. Feel your way and I hope you find it.

                              Salaam

Coffee has a stimulating effect; may depend on person, but a sensation of improved mood and drive is the usual center of effect. However; it is a myth that it helps one "wake up" or stay awake, although the stimulating effect in conjunction with increased activity due to it may cause difficulty falling asleep at night. Personally I have paradoxically felt that without increased activity it is actually easier to fall asleep afterwards, perhaps due to the drug's stimulating effect on the brain.

An orange or some sweet fruit is better for the purpose of waking up.

It may cause a downer side effect afterwards just like any other drug. And abstinence causes headache. It is wise to drink moderately and not too often, especially if someone has difficulty controlling drinking just as with alcohol.

                                Be of one with God
