Does the Quran speak of how a Muslim is to be buried?
e.g. washing of the body, facing a certain direction, etc.

Let us turn to the Judgement (1337) to find out what God says.
So God sent forth a raven to scratch the land and show him how to deal with the wickedness inflicted upon his brother. He said ?O my, am I not able to be like this raven and deal with the wickedness inflicted upon my brother!? So he became of those who regretted. (531)
And Jonah was one of the messengers. When he escaped to the charged ship. And he was guilty, so he became among the losers. Thus a whale swallowed him, and he was the one to blame. And had it not been that he was one of those who implored, He would have stayed in its belly until the Day of Resurrection. (37139-144)
The below are methods some other people have come up with.

Burying in the ground pereferably in planted land to be eaten by worms and the decomposition which will enrich the soil

Cremating the body, especially with clean burning incinerators. Ashes can be used to fertilize farmland.

Burial at sea if no other alternative is available.

Placing the body at a high place to be eaten by vultures. At least the birds get fed. Then the bones can be used to make fertiliser too.
Bad methods of disposing dead bodies

Mummification - uses up too much resources and what for?

Burial inside expensive caskets and boxes and what for?

Burial inside cemeteries with headstones and markers and what for?

cremation is an option that is acceptable ? I was always told Muslims must be buried.
Does the Quran allow for cremation?

I am new to the idea's of God Alone type of Islam
I didn't know if it was equal to what the Quran says, which is why I asked my questions .

1092 This day, We will preserve your body, so that you become a sign for those after you. But most of mankind are unaware of Our signs!
So preserving the body by the means known can be an option? Or is it for a special set of people only? Is mummification equal to preserving?

For those who work towards a home in Hell there is an example in Pharaoh and his following. They did everything God despised. They transgressed all bounds. In the scripture it is said
So when Moses went to them with Our clear signs, they said ?This is nothing but fabricated magic; nor did we hear of this from our fathers of old!? And Moses said ?My Lord is fully aware of who has brought the guidance from Him, and who will have the best deal in the Hereafter. The wicked never succeed.? And Pharaoh said ?O commanders, I have not known of any god for you other than me. Therefore, O Haamaan, fire-up the bricks and build me a platform, so perhaps I may take a look at the god of Moses! And I am certain he is a liar.? And he and his soldiers were arrogant in the land without any right, and they thought that they would not be returned to Us. So We took him and his soldiers, and We cast them into the sea. So see how was the end of the wicked! We made them role models for inviting to the Fire. And on the Day of Resurrection, they will not be supported. And We made them followed by a curse in this world, and on the Day of Resurrection they will be despised. (2836-42)
The prelude to this event was when God inspired Moses, His servant, at night to come to Tuwa where He showed him signs to bring to the wicked (see 171, 2829-32).
God despises those who imitate and follow the unguided people (see 265, 170, 5104, 728, 166, 1078, 2153, 2674, 3121, 4322, and 23)
God looks down on the oppresser/oppression (see 2191, 193, 217, 839)
God looks down on the arrogant (see 436, 173, 693, 713, 36, 40, 146, 1629, 2876, 311
The disbelievers call truth illusions (magic), ancient tales, etc (see 5110, 67, 25, 1076-77, 1624, 2057, 255, 2718, 68, 3443, 3715, 467, 616, 7424, 8313)
Call the messengers fabricators, liers, etc (see 610, 7109, 2634, 4024)
Take note how the trangressors also often made a point of how the messengers were only mortals and that God should send beings like angels and the such (see 68-9)
And they said, "How come this messenger eats the food and walks in the markets? If only an angel could come down with him, to serve with him as a preacher!" (257)The disbelievers are equated to animals who can only imitate, etc. Note the nature of the animals.
Say "Shall I point out to you something much worse than this, (as judged) by the treatment it received from God? those who incurred the curse of God and His wrath, those of whom some He transformed into apes and swine, those who worshipped evil;- these are (many times) worse in rank, and far more astray from the even path!" (560)

P.S. The word badan used in ayat 1092 can mean body but I think it is above and beyond the physical body one may think 1092 is referring to. It to me is the embodiment of the attribute of firAAawn throughout the nations.

Salaam Nadia,
OQS is a quran study group that was started about 5 years ago, I think. It is still in progress but much slower then it has been in years past when many members participated. Some have dropped out like myself and I think Kyle too because of the arguments and constant fighting. There are and were many learned individuals therein, but it's been very slow nowadays.

Only method I see is burying the body (bird scrathed the soil).
We come from the soil, so we return there, no need of casket.
But we must make sure there is no water nearby to get contaminated, and so on.
