Is it necessary for muslim to put on attire just like Prophet Muhammad did 1400 yrs ago? I was told that muslim men should follow what was worn by him.
I was asked this question that during Haj, every muslim is wearing the same thing. So why cant we put on what he worn?
According to Quran we r required to be modest when it come to dressing? how modest is modest?

wot u mean wot he wore 1400 yrs ago was diferent? thts cos we've creatd all these things ourselves, other than mark between shoulda blades (and arguably noor inside, but thts another debate) he prety much human. if he and his folowers cud wear it, so can we. but its more the principle behind wot he wore and advised to wear. not tite, not resembling kuffar, etc etc. clothes n stuff changed nowadays u say.. so i can jus go out n grab a bottl of WKD cos it werent around 1400yrs ago n use tht as me excuse eh.
and hu sed tht muslims in china dressin diferent to muslims in jamaica is totally corect? fine ther is an element of culture in all peoples, including arabs - but the guidelines are same from wot the prophet wore. modest doesnt giv much of a description. and in ansa to ur question bout cultures being diferent, if Allah truly acepted tht version of "clothing", then y wud he hav every (male for instance..) dress in only 2 pieces of white cloth wen visitin the most holiest places in this world and performing one of the gr8st acts available. it is so tht we cannot b told apart. not one guy with 11colors on his top to prov he from kenya and sum ova guy with an x-men stiker on his to show he a lost westener.
Basically the post above does not agree when someone said that the best example of Prophet Muhammad which we have to follow is the way he abides by the Quran and not how he sat or how long ws his beard or what he wore.
what is your view on this?

from my own studies of quran I have come accross nothing which indicates I should dress like the prophet or have a beard like the prophet as there in no information as to what these were like.
We do get some information as to his personal behaviour. He was 'honourable' (81.19) and Allah tells us he was a 'good example' (3321). So if you want to follow Muhammad's example you should be an honourable person. Allah didnt say anything about his beard length or method of dressing so we can assume Allah doesn't consider that to be significant for our salvation.

Once me and a friend went to south of the states there was a meeting held by the Tabligee Jamaat at a stadium, but the funny thing was on our way back at the airport a brother from the meeting wearing a totaly arabic dress like that of the prophet sith the turban and all was there at the airport , we where going to catch the same flightBut then the Captain came along to get onto the plane , and on seeing this brother in this funny dress streight away said to the stewedess "I don't want him on this plane" , i was surpised and couldn't understand why so i asked the lady why doesn't he want him on the plane ,can he do that ,she said yes he can -and his excuse was This young lad simply looked like a terorist!?
So wearing clothes like certain people i wonder........................So is it the looks that count or our actions.......................

people has been keeping beard for thousands of years long before muhammad. Than how does keeping it makes only following muhammad..???? LOL so stupid..

I like the way u guys think.. god never wants hardship for us. If we follow just the Quran. Life will be simpler. I have gone through hadiths, its not only mislead people. But it has make people forget Quran. Since these people resort to hadiths whenever they need guidance. To them Hadiths are more comprehensive. I thought that was a very wrong and dangerous thinking. Allah send us Quran. He did not send Hadiths.

I think the problem is that too many people who call themselves Muslims follow more of the Bible than they do the Quran. Many hadiths actually derive from the Old Testament.
Nowhere in the Quran does God tell men to grow long beards, but it is required in the Old Testament.
They do not realise what they are doing. And if you try to tell them...then oh you're in big trouble.Two examples are
Leviticus 1927
Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard.Leviticus 215
They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.
