Eid.What do you guys do?

my situation is Christmas, and I do not celebrate. I will go over my families house, I am not against seeing my family and promoting unity, but I will not hesitate to take the oppurtunity to clarify the truth of these "celebrations". Yes, we must follow Abrahams example, thats why it was given to us, but do it wisely.
Peace Idolfree
Many thanks for your response. How do you 'clarify the nature of Christmas' whilst still maintaining family unity? What I mean is, don't your family get resentful when this is done?

Peace Roshan,
What do you do if invited to their celebrations?
First I'd like to point out that I rarely turn down an invitation to eating good food. wink However, I haven't celebrated Eid in two years now, mainly because of work. Otherwise I don't recognize it anymore, so I guess I don't observe it anymore. It means as much to me as christmas or hannukah for that matter. -
Peace be upon you Roshan,

Yes, just as Abrhams people did, but that is why we debate"hajja" so that we can stregthen our argument just as a martial artist practises so that when the battle takes place, it is very easy. There is so much wisdom in Abrahams story for us. We make them ask thier own idols for answers, and those who realize they cant logically get an answer(doesn't your own book state that The Kingdom of heaven is within? Doesn't your own book state that Jesus said "these works AND GREATER YOU TOO SHALL DO?, ect) end up just remaining quiet, not wanting to be agreesive towards me for because of my logical philosophy that continues to destroy falsehood. Some ignore what they hear and follow thier old programming and even wish me "merry Christmas" and the cycle continues as long as they like, because the fire is "cool for Abraham" wink I can go all day because I practice at it. When you perfect the God's argument, its easy to keep your peace of mind because you are not worrying that they will have a superior argument and make you look crazy in front of the "witesses" At the end of the day its all about maintaining the God's PEACE.
If we truly want this victory for our loved ones, we have to be the messenger amongst them. We cannot be like Jonah who did not want to deliver the message and end up being thrown into unstability (Sea).

Peace,
I was a Sunni muslim and have previously celebrated Eid, still today I see no problem with celebrating a day and just seeing your family. The harm is when it is ascribed to GOD falsely as a religous requirement.
But I still enjoy the day with close friends and families because everyone else does. The day has no 'religous' significance to me but it is an enjoyable occasion!

The problem I had was that the celebration was because of a Sunni holy day. If, for example, it is in the middle of the week then, IMO, the only reason you are there is because of their holy day.
I liked Idolfree's suggestions. If you ask people about their beliefs, I am sure many religious types would be OK in replying. It is then upto you to tell them about your beliefs. This to me is a good way of following the prophet Ibrahim's example.

Peace Kyle,

I also call/visit my parents at these times and inform them of the truth.
Tell me, do your parents & family think you are a 'nutcase' when you speak these things to them.
In fact I'll open the question up to everyone; do your families think you are 'lost' or a 'nutcase' for holding the views you do?
Mine did for a long time - but over the last 6 months I've become less 'pushy' and have conquered my emotions over the whole thing so I can present the material in a very matter of fact way. It's made a big difference.
Regards.

Peace Truth,
I have had a lot of conflict while trying to convey the message to my family, they gave me a hard time and also brought some 'scholars' to see me. The 'scholars' agreed with me what the Quran says (this proved to my parents that I hadn't lied about what God says in Quran' but still they think im a 'nutcase' because the 'scholar' said I know a lot but i'm crazy!
It was an amazing experience because I am only 18 and haven't studied the QUran much. These scholars before the discussion were boasting or reminding everyone about the decades they spent studying 'islamic knowledge' but it was disappointing because clearly they do not know much of the Quran. I don't know what they studied!
As soon as my parents rejected the message clearly then I stopped trying to convince them of the truth. I respect them and love them, I don't let our differences break my home and accept their choices. They rejected it, GW they mite realise one day before death.
I have realised even in college that when a group or a few people talk about controversial topics that require discussion and understanding, the majority get wound up and rebel and reject. For example one can be talking about simple things like womens rights or alcohol laws or silly traditions (not valued ones, the really silly ones). Even when the other people aren't in the discussions they may butt in or react with their point of view which must be final.
I personally think that this is mental slavery towards a corrupts system that is harmful. The system that requires man/woman to use their own initiative and reason is straighter one not the one that says LOGIC is dangerous! A physics teacher said that LOGIC IS DANGEROUS to me! Trying to make me accept the norm without reflection.

Peace,
I am Just-God and I celebrate Eid...why not? Did the Quran forbid us to not celebrate it? If no, then we have no right to make anything that God has not made unlawful into unlawful.
This is one point that I very much hate that we are pretty much labeling everything and anything as "idol worship" without realizing that if God did not forbid it, why should we? I have met people who even forbid saying Happy New Year and I am like give me a break...if this attitude continues even the Mormons are going to be more jolly than us...IMO this is becoming another of those things the Sunni's do...making up unique laws never authorized by God.

I personally have no feelings towards any Eid celebration. If one wants to celebrate it, I of course have no right to object, nor would I do so.
But I just don't care about Eid. It may be that I don't have anyone to celebrate it with. I just feel numb towards it.
