    Welcome @bagyane,

    According to the Qurn, l-F?h () is a felony, indeed.
    But, not all acts of f?h (=) are punishable by lashes (=pain compliance).
    Only adultery/infidelity (I think).

    Ps the two-fold punishment applied only to the wives of the Prophet.

    ~ Be sound.

        Thanks for your response. It is my observation that all Faahishatan are purnishable accordingly. Secondly It is not only 3330 that is specific in its context for the purnishment but also 425 is specific. And if you cross read all the verses 242; 425; 3340 you may notice that each verse is specific in its context.

          24.25 is specific but certainly not for zina, but for slandering and gossiping. The whole thrust of the 26 first ayas of sura an-nur are against slandering and carrying tales. Nowhere is it said that people should be witnesses for zina, but that those who accuse either they get four witnesses or stand up for false accusation. And there is not any other punishment for anything called merely fahisha. For zina yes with the proviso that the private accuser gets four witnesses. An nobody is charged with accusing nor is commanded to stand witness to it. It is the person who undertakes to accuse who must procure the four witnesses.

            I don't understand your ref 24.25 it might be a misquote. From the following verses my understanding is that Fahishatan is unapproved sexual relationship. You may prove otherwise if necessary please.

            Marrying father?s wife = faahishatan 422
            adultery = faahishatan 1732
            lesbianism = faahishatan 415
            homosexuality = faahishatan 416; 780-81; 2754-56; 2928

            with regards

              In surat An-nur there is a punishment set only under certain conditions and only for zina. Ehther zina is fahisha or not, does not matter, because what is talked about is zina, not fahisha.

              Look at the ayas alltogether

              Those who slander chaste women, indiscreet but believing, are cursed in this life and in the Hereafter for them is a grievous Penalty,- (23) On the Day when their tongues, their hands, and their feet will bear witness against them as to their actions. (24) On that Day Allah will pay them back (all) their just dues, and they will realise that Allah is the (very) Truth, that makes all things manifest. (25)

              The whole thrust of the first 26 ayas of surat An-Nur is an indictment of those who slander and persecute women on the grounds of depicting them as immoral. Read attentively.

              God has no interest and does not ask people to come forward and serve as witnesses of zina. What he does is exact from anybody who acuses a woman of zina get four witnesses, and that if he or she does not get those four witnesses he or she will be punished as a perjuror with 80 lashes. And that those who accuse and do not bring four witnesses they are the real evil and liers.

              God says that zina is a grave sin, but He is much more angry with those who look for it than and persecute women than with those who engage in it. Look at who gets the most damning words.

              Salaam

                Zina is clearly typified as a crima, but fahsha in general is not. No penalty is appointed neither for marrying the father of the spouse nor for unqualified fahisha, which is logical too. Fahisha es a term for a moral misdeed, not for a crime, therefore no need to allot circumstances nor qualifications for it.

                And, when indeed there is a punishment appointed for zina, as it happens it serves as a starting point to condemn other inmoral behaviours in which people engage on the pretext of zina and which seem to be more abominable in the eyes of God than zina itself. An God says that He not wanting sina to be divulged not borught to justice is a mercy from Him.

                Salaam

                  Zina is introduced in verses 2-3 of sura nur. And there is no doubt it is faahishatan 1732

                    zina is A fahisha, but only one kind of fahisha. Fahisha is not zina, there are many kinds. So for zina is a punishement appointed if the conditions given are sthe conditions given are satisfied, but no punishment is appointed for fahisha. that is, zina is not a synonime for fahisha, not fahisha is a synonime for zina.

                    For instance, rape is sexual but not everything sexual is rape.

                      Rape is not only sexual but it include Fasad. Therefore rape punishment should be 242 plus 533
