By examining the style of the verses and their contents, he concluded that it could not have been produced before the Quran. As a result, he ASSUMEDthat this type of poetry was in fact invented during the Abbasid Era and projected backwards onto a false time period, in order to invent legendary deeds and lineages for the Arabian tribes, which they could boast of in their poetry. In fact, there was an article posted here on FM (not sure if it was by brother Ayman or Layth), which also discusses the fact that Jahiliyyah poetry was not in fact pre-Islamic.
The proofs that Taha Hussein presented regarding the authenticity of his findings were so powerful, that the intellectually bankrupt "ulema" of Al-Azhar were placed in a corner, and could not refute him. So they resorted to their usual response insults and takfeer. Another late Egyptian scholar (I think it was Nasr Hamed Abu Zayd) made an allusion to how Taha Hussein pretty much "destroyed" the Azhar scholars.
But there is one thing Taha Hussein may not have noticed. A piece of the puzzle that slipped by him...
It is not the history of the Jahiliyya Poetry that was hijacked. No. The "pre-Islamic" poets that they taught us about in school, like Zuheir Bin Abi Salmah, Tarafa, Umru' al-Qays, and others, were not inventions by the Abbasids. They actually lived around 400-500 AD. What Taha Hussein failed to grasp, is that it is the QURAN that has been hijacked and its history projected forward in time, thus creating the delusion that Jahiliyyah poetry was pre-Islamic.
So basically, Taha Hussein (along with Ayman or Layth) were 100% correct in his assessment regarding Jahiliyya Poetry, only the conclusion he reached was wrong, because he had the preconceived notion that the Quran was revealed around 600 AD.
Fadhel Al-Rubaye'e quote
Dr.Fadel al-Rubaie denied any relationship of any kind between the Torah and Palestine, stressing that the names, places and events that came in the Torah are Yemeni names and locations, and some still exist even today.
He denies strongly that Joshua Ben-Nun had crossed the Jordan River to Jericho, and inscriptions and figures available indicate that Joshua Ben-Nun actually travelled to the land of Yemen.
This was all said in a lecture given by Dr Rubaie on Tuesday evening in the Jordanian Writers Association Forum moderated by Dr Hisham Ghassib.
..Al-Rubaie in his lecture spoke of the need to re-correct the region's history, and on top of that the history of Palestine, which requires corrections to the historical narrative promoted by Orientalists that are based in their stories of the Torah that they read misleadingly. He stressed that Jerusalem is not Jerusalem, and Jews have no trace in the Palestinian territories, and if there is housing in Palestine from the Jews it is from the sons of the Arab tribes that migrated from Arabian Peninsula.

But why have historical narratives documented that the Babylonian enslavement incident as having occurred in Palestine?
Al-Rubai, who authored The Truth Behind the Babylonian Enslavement, says, ?The reason lies in the monopoly over this tragic story, which was later used in the Holocaust narrative as a continuation of the historical persecution of the Jews, thus reinforcing their role as historical victims. All we need to do is to go back to the history of al-Tabari, which clearly mentions that Nebuchadnezzar?s invasion was of Yemen and not Palestine.?
Based on these controversial revelations, al-Rubai solidly concludes in his thesis that Judaism is an old Arabic religion, and the Torah is a Yemeni "book". He also concludes that old Jerusalem is not present-day Jerusalem. It is located in Yemen and not Asir, as the late intellectual Kamal al-Salibi concluded in his book The Bible Came from Arabia.
Al-Rubai says, ?I am not under the illusion that these ideas will prevail soon, given the presence of an enormous media power that dominates the historical narrative. It is enough to seek the documentation of our history from a critical perspective, away from the Orientalist lie. Perhaps what Edward Said has accomplished in that regard has shaken this perception to a great extent.?

Pazuzu is too kind answering two people who show too much slobness, even to take the trouble of going through the very writings they criticise and therefore have been doing nothing but bubbling hot air. The Amarna tablets indeed, which are routine amongst Pazuzus writings detractors, when in fact it is worthless for the purpose, have bene discussed already in this forum more than once.
As to their advice to Pazuzu and me and others to go and dig, they could have better used it for themselves and they do not have to go to Yemen to dig anything, they just had to dig a little in these very forums.
But they are either to vain or too lazy to let that stop them from posing their "knowledgeability". They must think the rest of us are idiots who need caretakers full of themselves mouthing big words as if we just came from the bush and were not used to such exquisite stuff, when in fact they what they offer is the very common run of the mill appearance of pretenders to something they are far grom being, parading knowledge and that kind of thing. Obvioulsy they do not match it. They contradict it consistently. So history or not history, The orientalist and hadithist versions should be outright rejected by those who trust the Qur'an to tell always the truth.
Several times I have pointed that out, and for all their recommendations to goodness and faithfulness to poor conventional history, they have not touched the Qur'aan. It is much nicer when the Qur'aan just keeps beeing a meek servant to the bloated idiocy of waters parting in the middle of the sea, full Holywoodwise and so much "truth" as we are used to be fed by the sacred history "everybody knows it".

Others cited by pazuzu who do submit peer reviews can't show one positive peer review. This is important to be able to maintain standards of quality and credibility. The tremendous amount of work carried out by Pazuzu and others, the virtual books he has polished to make them available to people without expecting anything back have not deserved even a reading by a person that on his mere previous knowledge of the name of Kamal Salibi and Salibi's part in discrediting the worshipping of the bible as a history book took upon himself the task of attacking and discrediting Pazuzu.
Were there any honesty in that, he would have read the books and all the material available in the forum which is plenty and would have discussed to the point. The first time he did not do that could pass, but after it was pointed out to him that there were many things written in the forum concerning those matters and even several books, he should have taken his time before continuing with the onslaught. He did not. He continued on the assumption that What he projected on Pazuzu was reality and that we were some kind of sheep that follow Pazuzu as if we were under the pressing need of follwing any guru.
May be sometime this century the attacker will do things right and discuss to the point if he has something to discuss. As things are now, he has nothing to discuss but just pull down another member's image.
But he is right in one thing, there are people who appreciate Pazuzus work, not blindly, because without becoming blind there is enough merit in it to make it valuable. Nobody has been perfect an complete in the world since its creation and neither is Pazuzu, but nobody expects that from anybody else, so, reasonably arguing, there are many here who feel and know that Pazuzu's work has made them more aware, knowledgeable and satisfied that truth is being acknowledged and its light will liberate the minds now clogged by "idols" made up by religious books disguised as history and the following they have had among professionals of hsitory, not always out of intent, but simply because of taking unproved things for granted. That happens not only with the bible and the "bible geography". That happens with any things grounded on those assumptions and others derived from them or similar to them.
And the Qur'an, as has been pointed out by Pazuzu and others, encloses many clear hints or statements that should give us good pointers. But this habit of taking for granted that the Bible solves the Qur'an riddles and not the other way round, will keep us suffering delusions such as those made evident by some of Pazuzu's detractors.

Pazuzu's research is interesting in many ways although I consider the center of the ancient clergy to have been in Mesopotamia and part of the Persian Empire's faith system that developed over time. Obviously there were multiple branches (sects) too.
Today's Israel has little to do with Judah etc.
Bible's Old Testament shows a very strong influence of Zoroastrianism and to such extent it actually is the practice of Zoroastrianism in many parts, e.g. "high places", fire altars etc. If one honestly examines OT they will clearly see it is a Zoroastrian faith system in it.
There are no traces of a mighty empire of David and Solomon. The empire is suggested in scriptures to have been enormously huge with great wealth and no historical rulers fit it for this region except the Persian Empire. The Persian Empire, mostly controlled from Susa (Shush), had such extent it could have hosted kings like David and Solomon. During several hundred years the Persian Empire controlled today's Israel region. It collides with David and Solomon. The Persian Empire is also the largest recorded empire, particularly during the first kings.
Few rich cultures develop where there are no or few possibilities for agriculture and Arabia is too arid and probably why the Persian Empire never chose to expand (settle) on the Arabian Peninsula. It was not interesting to them. If you see old Persian Empire maps you see it mainly stretched over fertile soil regions.
Mesopotamia had a great river system and has been a potential agricultural site. Abraham was born in Ur which is in Mesopotamia.
Today's Persia had more water with rivers in the past. I have studied the geography on site. There are many dried out river systems.
By the way, 'Herod' in the Biblical Gospels is a title for the kind of king which ruled during this period. If you look at Persian rulers you will see 7-8 kings named Herod during which time the alleged Jesus event took place.
Just 'rud' is also a typical ancient Persian word. Nimrud is an example. And in old times you greeted each other 'Durud' (hello) and 'Bedrud' (goodbye) there.
Jesus visited a city called Nain. There is an ancient city in today's Iran which is called Nain.
If there were settlements on the Arabian Peninsula they were probably next to the sea, Yemen etc.
In today's Iraq there are many places starting with Tel in the name, just like Tel Aviv. Today's Israel was only an extent of 'Judah' and part of the Persian clergy.
I still consider the main events of the Bible and prophets to have occurred in Mesopotamia. You also have Nineveh there where Jonah lived.
A question is of course where Quran was written and by what people. But as how it is it seems to never have been fully understood due to the gross misinterpretations available. I also share mmkhan's thinking that there may never have been any man called Muhammad or Ahmad. I think Ali ibn abu talib wrote Quran. It was a prophecy just as Isaiah wrote about future prophecies. He was offered shelter with his family elsewhere (Mesopotamia) after heavy persecution. Eventually his whole family was massacred, if we are to believe the official story, over Quran.
What is told in hadith I have a hard time believing at all. That Muhammad is not even righteous and do not act like a prophet. A prophet would not order conquest and he would not go to a place where people are spiritually shallow.
Today's Quran is a hijacked scripture by a clergy who could hardly understand a word. They sat down and tinkered and tinkered, guessed and used their doctrinal knowledge to interpret Quran and inserted their doctrine's religious rules and practices where they saw fit even if it was not necessarily right. Early transcripts do not have diacritical marks and this they added in their own studies according to their understanding and it is not original with the Arabic.
I have found old inscriptions with Arabic passages from Quran in Persia (Iran today) during my studies (I am on site) and they all lack diacritics, even over ALLAH (ه. I could upload photographs I have taken at some point. In my point of view, ALLAH comes from the root (alif-lam-lam), the same as the article (al) which means "near as/such as". The (ha) is just a suffix. ALLAH means "to be (such) as it", just as GOD said to Moses in the Biblical scriptures "I am that am I". ALLAHEM means just the plural version, i.e. when you refer to several people who are like The Rabb who tread in the same symbiotic image. I have never had a stronger ability to explain this than now, and this also using ancient Arabic dictionaries.
It is hard to explain ALLAH. If people have watched the fantasy science fiction Star Trek they can refer to 'the Borg'. ALLAH works like the Borg with the mainframe being The Rabb which all nodes (individuals) are interconnected with.
There is no separation to be made between user (you) and The Rabb (the mainframe). This is the idolatrous mistake people make when they vainly worship an image of something in their sect. There is no worship. Moses and those who understood his teachings knew this 4000 years ago already and it is in the 10 Commandments on stone tablets which were twisted in interpretation in later times and the original tablets lost somehow. Statute number two says "Take no image of anything in Heaven (the invisible realm) and Earth (what is visible) and worship it". It did not say OTHER, it said worship any image, at all. And this is 4000 years ago, roughly. The first statute says "Immerse/involve/serve in ELOHIM alone" meaning treat in the one and same image without separation. There is no separate GOD image.
Sorry for covering more than only about Muhammad in my post, but it is all related. People are so beguiled by ancient sectarian doctrines.

look for other explanations and make alternative conjectures,
as denying Muhammad's Prophethood and attributing it to Ali is in fact an Alawite concept I cannot accept,
unless you rule out The Quran as revelation, which I cannot agree with.
