    Salaams all,
just my view - according to my research and that of a few others aswell.

    2150

And wherever you go out, you shall set yourself towards the Restricted Temple. And wherever you may be you shall set yourselves towards it; that the people will have no room for debate with you, except those of them who are wicked. You shall not fear them, but fear Me; so that I may complete My blessings upon you and that you may be guided.

Let me say this is wrong translation

1 because its not simply the wicked who will be against /opposing you in this regard but all the religions/systems other then this will be in opposition ,if they wern?t then they would actually join you that is if they agreed.

The only qibla to which you would have no opposition to regarding the peoples of the world accept the wicked is

?Submission to the law of Forbiddance?

In every country of the world you ask anybody sensible should you obey the law almost 100% of the answers will be yes.And this one qibla will bring the whole of humanity ?TOGETHER.

And I believe as a couple of other people like Hafeez ? that is according to his topic, this is what a qibla is for the followers of the Gods way.And for printing 1000?s of books and telling otherwise is a great sin.

    ?THE LAW OF FORBIDDANCE?

Isn?t necessarily that in the quran but embodies even the general law ? as it has been created with Salaah/advice/opinions of a lot of intelligent people (salaat)and no doubt allah is close to most of them as he has said.

    God Bless . Salaam.

"qiblah" doesnt mean cube but rather "focal point", "direction", or "target", your thinking "kaaba" which has a better translation as "base" (go here to see a good discussion on possible translations http//www.free-minds.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2974) and no it is not a physical point, the "qiblah/focal point" we should set ourselves to is "the institution of hearing and obeying the restrictions" (almasjid alharam, go here to see a good discussion on possible translations of it http//www.free-minds.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3011), if it was physical how could we set ourselves towards it wherever we go?

          Peace,

Thank you for your response, I have heard the arguements promoting the Qiblah in not being a physical structure but I am not convinced because of the verses talking about Moses and his people to face a Qiblah. They indicate that this is a physical direction towards a certain point. If anyone can add to this or give me another interpretation, it would be appreciated, IF them verses do truly indicate a physical focal point then I don't see how this idea (non-physical direction) can last in further Quranic studies.

            1. And We inspired/transmitted to Moses and his brother that you reside/establish houses/homes to your nation by a city/border/region/Egypt, and make your houses/homes direction/target, and persist in the "salat"/learning connection and announce good news (to) the believers.

1087 speaks about moses telling his people to leave their homes in "egypt" and establish new houses outside of it which they should make as their "focal point/direction/target", this does not mean that moses told them to face their houses they were going to build when they did "salat" nor does it mean to face their houses wherever they went, I think at the moment it means to set their direction towards leaving "egypt" and establishing homes outside of it in their own community, not sure, but regardless qiblah can be a physical or non-physical direction, it is whatever we set ourselves towards

              Peace,

The translation seems very unclear and the other ones I have read seem to make more sense, to be honest, but that is just my opinion.

                Peace Idris and all,

Where did you get the idea of "leaving their homes in "Egypt" from?

Look closely to your translation once more and split it into 2 parts

                1. And We inspired/transmitted to Moses and his brother that you reside/establish houses/homes to your nation by a city/border/region/Egypt,
                2. and make your houses/homes direction/target, and persist in the "salat"/learning connection and announce good news (to) the believers.

so according to the first part of your translation the inspiration was not about leaving "Egypt" but, establishing homes there. I don't see in your translation at all where it is said that Moses told his people to leave "Misr" on the contrary, he is telling them to establish their houses there.

                Any comment?

Besides, why are you so confused about translating "misr" ? The Firuan speaks clearly in the Quran saying "I have the kingdom of Egypt" and I don't see a reason to be confused to translate it to Egypt.

                Best regards,
                sabo

                  peace be upon you sabo,

Where did you get the idea of "leaving their homes in "Egypt" from?

it was just a guess at the time, it looks like to me that its telling them to establish new homes on perhaps the border region of "egypt" actually, it might be telling them to form their own community and establish their houses within the border region before they leave, how this works with making their houses their focal point (qiblah) im not sure, im still studying this verse which is related to qiblah

1087-88 And We inspired to Moses and his brother that you establish homes to your nation/community with a city/border/region/egypt, and make your homes direction/target/focal point, and persist in the learning connection and announce good news the believers.

its not my translation, its the literal translation done by somebody else, regardless there are other translations of misr that i find reasonable

                    Peace Idris,

Thanks for your answer and sorry for thinking its your translation, but I couldn't guess otherwise!

Well, I don't see where is it stated, that they should build "new" homes. Anyway in this verse there is no command "yet" to leave Egypt , and the children of Israel under the ruling of Pharaon didn't have much choice to build houses where they liked! If you recall from the Quran they were treated as slaves in this period.

regardless there are other translations of misr that i find reasonable

Based on what? Would be nice to hear your reasoning!

From following verse I can see that misr = egypt.

43.51 And Pharaoh proclaimed among his people "O my people, do I not possess the kingship of Egypt, and these rivers that flow below me? Do you not see?"

                    Best regards,

There was no command in that particular caption of the story but only a few verses later we see the pharoah drowning. Plus in the next verse we see moses speaking about pharoah and his commanders, therefore I think its reasonable to assume that 1087 is telling them to establish homes. Enough with this though, to get back on the subject, we can clearly see that "qiblah" is not something we face towards wherever we go which is impossible physically and 1087 is more proof of it.

4351 And pharaoh called in his nation, he said "You my nation, is not for me ownership/kingdom (of) Egypt/(the) region, and these the rivers flow/run from beneath/below me, so do you not see/ understand?"

I think "region" would be a better translation of misr, in 1299 joseph told his parents to enter "misr" in safety but they were already in "egypt", so he was telling them to enter the region/city
