    Peace all,

Someone recently asked about my personal journey and i thought it would be better to share it with all of you.

I was born and raised in a muslim sunni environment. My family did not practice much, Islam was more cultural and celebrational than anything else ..

When adolescence came, a wind of change in Islamic understanding and practice started to blow around me people started to take the religion more literally thus going to mosques, doing 5 prayers a day, wearing hijab and such. This is the point when i decided to pay attention in my inherited religion.

I read the Quran which i found repetitive, boring and uninspirational.
I read the hadiths and the Seerah that made me hate the man called Muhammad.
That was it for me until my early twentieth I identified myself as an agnostic with a ?muslim? culture. I had accepted the fact of presenting myself as a muslim but at the same time drinking alcohol, not doing prayers and knowing nothing of the Quran. I would find verses in the quran cruel, unethical, misogynist, homophobic but still live my life not applying any of those interpretations i treated my girlfriend as my equal, i got along just fine with my gay friends... I had reached a state of schizophrenia that was quite scary and amusing at a time.

The thing is life is a tough teacher, i?ve known some major hardships and difficulties that led me into a depression that had took away some years, friends and opportunities from my life? But it put me back on my truth seeking journey. I came to a conclusion that i will no longer do or say anything in which i do not truly believe.

So back to now, what first brought me to this website, was the issue of Ramadan; not because of its importance but simply because it is said by sunna that the so called ?month? of Ramadan is happening now. After multiple readings, i believe that the appropriate scheduling of ramadan is on the 7th full moon after the spring equinox.

However, i recently discovered that i?ve made a huge methodological error trying to understand the content of a book while knowing nothing about its origins. I have exposed the questions i had on a thread called ?Which Quran?. Your input would be appreciated.

    May God guide us all

Did it have an odor by chance?

So where are you at now in your current religious beliefs or whatever? What are your current practices?

Do you still find the QUr'an repetitive, boring, and un-inspirational?

Do you still hate Muhammed and believe in the Hadiths?

          FreedomStands,

Here you are again with your "subtile" double meanings group

About the Hadiths, the Quran paints a much more attractive image of Messenger Mohammed, don't you agree ?

I agree totally, I think the Qur'an makes all the prophets seem like really sweet and wonderful people.

So what are your current beliefs and practices though?

You can read mine basically in "I COMMAND THEE TO OBEY ME!" or whatever.

I just went through some of your previous posts and I was like http//www.reactiongifs.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/mind_blown.gif

However, I think sarcasm and irony are strong weapons against extremisms and close mindedness elektro

About my practice and beliefs, I believe in a Unique God and his messengers including Mohammed who transmitted the Quran to Humanity. As to how to apply those beliefs, i'm still 'inquiring'.
