Humor in Quran
-
Good ones -)
3119 is especially funny when you think of those sheikhs and Imams shouting at their 'umma'. In my mind I replace it with "i-a-i-a-i-a-i-a" rotfl
-
I dont know where you got that translation from but thats not what I read in Quran.

3119 And be humble in how you walk and lower your voice. For the harshest of all voices is the voice of the donkeys
To be honest, I still don't understand clearly about the relation between the sentence in blue and the sentence in red.
Whether the donkey's voice is so bad?
Salm.

Okay. Thanks, brother.
So, perhaps the lesson we can take from the verse is to apply good manner of how we speak, and do not yell/scream to others or perhaps do not make unpleasant voice to others?
Salm.

I think it refers to being humble in every way. Manner of speech. Manner of walking. Clothing etc.

Peace all,
I find the idea behind this thread quite interesting.
Here are some verses that never fail to make me smile
276 And when they come across those who believe, they say ?We
believe!? And when they are alone with each other they say
?Why do you inform them of what God has said to us? Then they
would use it in argument against us at your Lord. Do you not
comprehend??Also all the verses between 265 and 271 about the choice of the cow to sacrifice
-
I don't know if this is funny.
But to me this is stupid and makes me leave the conventional Islam. . .
And do not have (sexual) relations with them as long as you are staying for worship in the mosques.
2.187You want to have sex in mosques and churches, a place for serene reverence and solemn prayer?

One of my favorites is "Is this then magic?" when they behold hell, and "double for both!" as they are arguing about who should get more punishment!
The Qur'an is full of humor! I also like when they are plotting and thinking they are safe and the roof falls on their head. In other cases the ground opens up and swallows.
Or when hell speaks "are there more?" or when the angels are responded to "Know, you know not." and on and on, its a non stop humor fest, and is a real joy to the hearts of believers. Mixing humor, seriousness, and all sorts of things to give one thoroughly peaceful and happy experience which is not matched by anything else.

In my opinion, the Qur'an contains no humor at all.
8613 Verily, this (the Qur'an) is decisive Word (that distinguishes the truth from falsehood)*
8614 And it is not for amusement (it is not jest, it is not a thing for joke)**my current understanding/opinion
Salaam.

Maybe not, but then again, we're laughing at many parts or enjoying them sincerely so that a laugh is induced and it says
5343
And that He it is who maketh laugh, and maketh weep,So Allah, the inventor of humor, also the decider of what we find funny, and when and at what we laugh, is making some of us laugh yet we find it meaningful always too, so not just as entertainment, but as a teaching which gives us deep enjoyment so that laughs are produced and there seems to be irony.
Irony is like the ironic punishments in the Qur'an, like for example people refusing to prostrate then are found all dead prostrating and things like that, its very serious, but it gives relief to the believers, since we want evildoers to be killed on a grand scale, and hearing about that makes us happy for example!

I could laugh as well, even though I rarely laugh, it seems that I smile more often than I laugh.
About me and the Qur'an, as I recall, when I was reading/studying the Qur'an, it did not make me laugh.
That's me, and I voiced my opinion in this regard.

Do you smile while reading it sometimes?
I can't really remember that.
Maybe I ever smiled because of happiness (not because of humorous thing) when I read part of the Qur'an (quote taken from the Qur'an).
The Quran is not funny for me, but it gives me lessons, serious warning, happiness, and hope.
I am happy about Allah, I like His consolation (solace), His promises, and His wonderful lessons.
For me, the Qur'an is special gift from my Lord, the most useful book, the most serious book, and the best book I ever read in my life.

Best book in my view too! Do you read it in English, Indonesian, Arabic or what? I've pretty much only read it in English but I've heard it read in Urdu and Arabic.

I guess she was right. Now I want to cry.

Old thread, but still is relevant.
Then on the Day of Resurrection He will disgrace them and say, "Where are My 'partners' for whom you used to oppose?" Those who were given knowledge will say, "Indeed disgrace, this Day, and evil are upon the disbelievers" 1627

Peace.
6817
We have tested them like we tested the owners of the garden who swore that they will harvest it in the morning.6818
They were so absolutely sure.6819
A passing (storm) from your Lord passed by it while they were asleep.6820
By morning, it was barren.6821
They called on each other in the morning.6822
"Let us harvest the crop."6823
On their way, they confided to each other.6824
That from then on, none of them would be poor.6825
They were so absolutely sure of their harvest.6826
But when they saw it, they said, "We were so wrong!6827
"Now, we have nothing!"6828
The righteous among them said, "If only you had glorified (God)!"6829
They said, "Glory be to our Lord. We have transgressed."6830
They started to blame each other.6831
They said, "Woe to us. We sinned.6832
"May our Lord grant us a better one. We repent to our Lord."6833
Such was the requital. But the retribution of the Hereafter is far worse, if they only knew.I used to wonder about this story! Now, I reflect on it with a smile?
GOD bless.
Peace.
