    Peace Green_Leaves,

I use eDonkey for most of my file sharing needs.

    http//www.edonkey2000.com/

One can download whole albums, movies, xbox games as well as pretty much 95% of all applications out there. I would not touch Kazaa with a barge pole for the reasons you state.

There is also BitTorrent which has been hit hard recently by the anti-piracy agencies - but there are many great sites around where you can find the .torrent files which allows you to download recently released films etc.

    http//www.torrentreactor.to/index.php

    http//www.vip-torrents.com/

You need a BitTorrent client to use these files, but when properly set (ie. router + port forwarding) up I can achieve maximal download rates of 29 Kb/s for large 1 Gig files (and I have a 256Kbit/s connection)!

    I use the Azureus client.

    http//azureus.sourceforge.net/

    http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BitTorrent

    Regards.

They have a forum for wrist watches!?! lol

      Peace,

Yes. More than you'd imagine regarding Swiss automatic watches.

I am a Rolex lover; and for some time was into collecting such time pieces. I saw this materialistic behaviour as inherently against being spiritual and it troubled me a great deal.

I was on the verge of selling all my 'material' possessions that I valued but then I read the following things.

314 Fair in the eyes of men is the love of things they covet Women and sons; Heaped-up hoards of gold and silver; horses branded (for blood and excellence); and (wealth of) cattle and well-tilled land. Such are the possessions of this world's life; but in nearness to God is the best of the goals (To return to).

The love of material things is natural within people; we are made of material ourselves and live within this world. We are not asked to eschew these things completely but are reminded of the better reward to work towards.

168 And (He has created) horses, mules, and donkeys, for you to ride and use for show; and He has created (other) things of which ye have no knowledge.

Some things are created for 'show' or for luxury. Horses is the example here, which is important in the next section.

3830 To David we granted Solomon; a good and obedient servant.
3831 One day he became preoccupied with beautiful horses, until the night fell.
3832 He then said, "I enjoyed the material things more than I enjoyed serving my Lord, until the sun was gone.
3833 "Bring them back." (To bid farewell,) he rubbed their legs and necks.
3834 We thus put Solomon to the test; we blessed him with vast material wealth, but he steadfastly submitted.*
3835 He said, "My Lord, forgive me, and grant me a kingship never attained by anyone else. You are the Grantor."
3836 We (answered his prayer and) committed the wind at his disposal, pouring rain wherever he wanted.

In this parable, we see that even Solomon could become obsessed in the material things, and that God tests us with these things. He is the Grantor of all these things. It is our acknowledgement of that as well as our actions - ie. service that must be balanced.

I have not collected any more watches as I realised that I had passed the boundaries of appreciation into obsession, and I am planning to sell some of them as the burden of having them does play on one's self from time to time.

      Regards.

        Peace truth,

No, I did not view you as a materialistic person...so you really don't have to give me Quranic verses to support your hobbies (i.e. watch collection)...we are all materialistic.

I myself am working very hard at my university, doing an internship, serving as the president and vice-president for two student clubs at school, working part-time and then doing volunteer work ocassionaly...why? All because it looks good on the mighty resume, so when I graduate, I can "sell" my skills for a good-paying job (God Willing D )...but as long as I don't become a money hoarding idol-worshipper, I think I should be a-okay, but it will be very hard to do so once you smell the scent of $$$$. I guess God knows exactly how to test each of us...some gets loads of dinero while some get nothing, its all a test. But honestly speaking, though just like everyone I'd also like a nice home, car and other stuff, other than that I've never really cared that much for money.

Now to the file the sharing stuff (hey, who needs money when you get music, movies and apps for free, huh?!?), I was a user of suprnova which recently shut down...since you've used edonkey, does it have any hidden spyware or virus stuff..? I've got BitTorrent client on my machine....what's the difference between that eDonkey and the bittorent sites you've given....I know torrents are spyware free or are they? Which is better?

        Thanks

By the way, I've heard that when you download stuff from these torrent sites, they log your IP address and then its traced and of course in some cases you get hacked!!!! Scary shock

            Peace Green_Leaves,

The bittorrent sites I pointed to kind of make up for suprnova until something else comes along. As far as movies goes, I hate the idea of supporting an industry that is monopolised in a vulgar and exclusive way by organised Jewry.

Note that Mel Gibson did not even get a nomination for "Passion" let alone an award by the Jewish dominated film industry and its closely allied awards organisations. That speaks volumes about the cliquey nature of Hollywood - and far be it for me to feed them money.

To be honest I haven't even watched a new Hollywood film in well over a year almost. I've grown tired of the same formulas and I detect that others have also grown weary of them.

eDonkey has no spyware at all. It has an inbuilt advertising system that can be switched off quite easily using a crack. I use MacOS which doesn't have the same problems as Windows.

When using PC's I used Gentoo Linux again to avoid the problems with Microsoft. It did/does everything I ever needed. Check it out if you haven't already. Mandrake and Xandros are great systems for newer users.

Microsoft has so many backdoors and information collection systems i would not be surprised if they knew almost everything about you. The OS 'phones home' from time to time sending information.

Definitely use eDonkey, with the demise of suprnova and the big crackdown on bittorrent more users are going to it - not that it isn't big already. It's far far better than Kazaa.

            Regards.

                Peace truth, Green Leaves, all

For file sharing, I'm using "Shareaza". It can handle edonkey and torrent links, it's very stable compared to other clients.

For other sites, since I'm a high-tech freak, I visite regularly these sites looking for advancements

http//www.theaircar.com/ for an air-compressed car with zero pollution engine.

http//jnaudin.free.fr/ for new forms of energy and applications.

I used to go to the Muslimwakeup! forums but it's pretty much died down since Dhulqarnain started a flame war over there last year (i think he's been banned over there too). I actually came to this board through him from that board. Don't know if I would have accepted God Alone if not for that.

Other than that, if you couldn't tell from my avatar, I'm a huge Miami Hurricanes fan and I browse the Miami forms at Scout.com. I also browse a couple of hip-hop forums of some of my favorite artists.
