    Salam, brothers and sister...

Does anyone have any idea why the following verses in the Quran mention the names of the prophets in the following sequel? Any suggestion? It seems random, I believe there is a pattern but I just can't see it...

684 And we granted him Isaac and Jacob, and we guided both of them. Similarly, we guided Noah before that, and from his descendants (we guided) David, Solomon, Job, Joseph, Moses, and Aaron. We thus reward the righteous.
685 Also, Zachariah, John, Jesus, and Elias; all were righteous.
686 And Ismail, Elisha, Jonah, and Lot; each of these we distinguished over all the people.
687 From among their ancestors, their descendants, and their siblings, we chose many, and we guided them in a straight path.

    Thank you )

Good question! I don't think it was necessarily supposed to be all chronological, but some does seem to be chronological

Isaac before Jacob, David before Solomon, Moses before Aaron, Zachariah before John. There seem to be some "pairs" of familial relationships, like Isaac and Jacob, David and Solomon, Moses and Aaron, Zachariah and John. Most of those familial relationships are considered father and son relationships traditionally, but Moses and Aaron are considered brothers.

Meanwhile, if you would like to get involved in this battle against injustice, you're invited

        Thank you for responding, FreedomStands...
I see that too... but as a whole it seems quite confusing.
Like why are "Moses and Aaron" mentioned together but not "Abraham and Lot"?
I believe/know there is purpose/reason to the sequel... but what is it

PS thank you for the invite, I just checked the post shortly... I am not comfortable with confrontation though... let me read the posts first )

I do no think there is anything random in the Qur'an and I finde the question quite interesting. See what people can suggest.

          Thanks

          Salaam

Abraham was mentioned just prior with "gave him Isaac and Jacob" so mentioning him again there might be weird, plus he didn't seem to be in the closest relations or contact with Lot as compared to Musa and Harun who were running around together at some points.

I think it is good to ponder, but also to be aware that many people have become absorbed in the pursuit of trying to figure out some sense or "system" to it or "its true meaning" and it leads them to becoming deceived and confused like many on this website.

If we take it as a factual statement, its just "Allah willed to write it that way, and can make up any reason for doing so or have no reason for doing so except that Allah does whatsoever Allah wills".
