Anyway, my journey as a Muslim has been pretty straightforward. My parents are Muslim. I've experimented with my religion; born Sunni to Agnostic to Sunni again to Sufi to non-denominational, and now I'm a Quranist, and the forecast is that it's not going to change. The others just didn't fit, ya know? -\

Glad to see another member.
I have been a sunni in the past (for some period), just like you. I used to believe in and follow Hadith and Sunnah in the past. But now I am a muslim who solemnly and solely follows the Quran for religious law and guidance. And I believe that the Quran is complete and fully detailed. So therefore I don't believe in extra-quranic or non-quranic teachings when it comes to islamic laws, principles and rituals. Personally, I have been a truthseeker since I was a child. And I found this forum when I searched for true islam a few years ago.
This is forum for people who believe in God alone (monotheism). But you can also call it a Quranist forum, if you like. Personally, I consider myself a muslim who follows Quran-oriented islam (or islam based on the quran), if you will. But I only call myself a muslim. I do not call myself a Quranist. Because the word Quranist is a non-quranic or extra-quranic word. In other words, the word Quranist does not exist in the Quran.
In verse 2278, the Quran suggests that God has named/called us muslims.
Quran 2278 Strive hard for God as is His due He has chosen you and placed no hardship in your religion, the faith of your forefather Abraham. God has called you Muslims??both in the past and in this ??so that the Messenger can bear witness about you and so that you can bear witness about other people. So keep up the prayer, give the prescribed alms, and seek refuge in God He is your protector??an excellent protector and an excellent helper.

Ive been in and out of various different religious belief throughout my life, once you come to the true message of Quran, theres realy no way you could turn your back on it, if youre sincere

Welcome to forum. I come from Sunni family too. All changed their views after I told them about the corruption. Dad is still a sunni for what I don't know!
As mentioned in my first post in this thread, I have been a sunni in the past (for some period). Although my parents believe in God, they are not religious. And unfortunately, they won't accept Quran-based islam. My little brother was open-minded regarding Quran-based islam in the past. I told my brother some facts about Hadith some years ago. And when I told him some facts about Hadith, he seemed to accept those facts. But later his views suddenly changed. And it seems that he reverted back to his old beliefs.

The answer to this seemingly intelligible question is a simple one.
A) Deen != religion, deen is more like "system" or "the way".
B) "Islam" is the deen adopted by anyone/any groups of people who believe in God and the last day and does/do good works.
C) So who is a muslim? Muslim would be someone who has submitted to "the way" or "System" but may or may not yet "believe". All believers are "muslim" - regardless of their backgrounds as christians, jews, zoroastrians etc but not all muslims maybe believers.
See Quran 49 14 to more clearly see what this means.
So whoever seeks other than the system/the way, they are on the losing end.
Regardless of how rigourous or intense or how long this "science of collection/evaluation of the hadiths and sunnah" has been evolving/practised, it still remains what it is - A game of chinese whispers.
It doesnt matter how many people play it, after the first two agents, definitely, the original message mutates unless written down or recorded outside human memory then and there. In the case of hadith and sunnah collections, this is at least, at the very least a 100 years post dating the death of the prophet (pbuh).
It doesnt matter how strict the rules are, the end result is the same as what usually happens in this game. And the longer it has gone on, the more inaccurate and the more nullified this "science" becomes.

I liked the detailed posts of the Quran follower. Wasn't surprised by the responses of the hadithers. "Don't think, just believe" is working profoundly on them and I have a feeling its not gonna end well nope

My definition of science of hadith science on gossips, paparazzi reports and yellow journalism.
