So what is the problem?
There is no compulsion still. The choice is there to believe or not believe.
However if you believe,then 3356 applies.
It does not make sense to choose belief then,go against it and claim there is no choice?
Think about it . You cannot promise something (to be a believer) then claim there is no choice ? You have to follow GOD and His commands otherwise you are pretending. i,e you are not really a believer!!!
If you do not want to be a believer,then there is no compulsion. You have that choice also.

I think that good logic is correct. Verse 3336 in the Quran, is directed towards mumins (believers), not muslims (submitters). Also, verse 3336 is not directed towards jews, christians, buddhists, hindus, atheists, agnostics and people with other beliefs.
As mentioned earlier, verse 3336 is directed towards mumins (believers), not muslims (submitters). Hence there is no compulsion in islam for muslims (submitters), jews, christians, buddhists, hindus, atheists, agnostics and people with other beliefs. From verse 3336, it can only be argued that there is compulsion in islam for mumins (believers). But even such an interpretation is probably wrong. Because verse 3336 probably has a context. And I suspect that verse 3336 is taken out context. This might explain why it seems that there is no freedom of religion in islam.
For all we know the mumins (believeing males and females) might have been bound by an oath/contract. And if this is true, then this explains why verse 3336 suggests that the mumins (believers) have no choice in their decision, when God and His messenger have issued a command. And if the mumins (believers) have no free choice, because they themselves have decided to obey the commands of God and his messenger, then this suggests that there is no contradiction between verse 3336 and verse 2256. Because if the mumins (believers) have decided to sacrifice their freedom for the cause of God and his messenger, then there is no compulsion at all. There is only compulsion if a group of people are forced to do something (without their consent/approval). If a group of people willingly/freely join the cause of God and his messenger, which requires them to obey/submit/surrender to any command of God and his messenger, then there is no compulsion.
I think that in order to interpret verse 3336 in a correct way, one has to study all quranic verses that are related to verse 3336. Because it seems that if we take a verse out of context, then we will not be able to get a correct interpretation of that verse. In my view, it is a mistake to isolate a quranic verse, and then try to get a correct interpretation of that verse, by studying it in isolation (out of context). I think that it is extremely important to always study the context of a quranic verse, if one wants to get a correct interpretation of that verse.

Peace.Saw a post on islamqa about hijab, they use 3336 to force their beliefs about hijab or head covering, before i stumble upon this website.
But if you think about it we can use verse 3336 to force our other muslim friends to make wine because verse 1667 told us to...lol

2256 and 3336 are not related.
2256 is talking about the acceptance of God and God's commandments and guidance and addresses everyone, more so those who do not yet believe.
3336 is addressing those who have already accepted God and God's guidance. The matter at hand is a specific one and can be read in the next verse (3337).

The notion that there is compulsion in islam is a misconception, in my opinion.

Remember also that following the messenger is conditional!!! Only follow the messenger if the source is GOD. In our case GOD s words which is Qoran. If the messenger gives his own opinion/words we are not obliged to follow them.especially if they are not confirmed/backed up by Qoran.
Actually Qoran is very clear about following the "one source only"

The notion that there is compulsion in islam is ridiculous, in my opinion. Because there are several Quranic verses that support "freedom of religion." Also, the Quran is the only spiritual/sacred text in the world that states that the followers of other religions can be rewarded with paradise in the next life. This suggests that islam is a just, tolerant and inclusive deen (way of life). In my view, islam is the most just, tolerant and inclusive deen (way of life) in the world. The teachings of the Quran seems to surpass the teachings of all other spiritual/sacred texts in the world. I would like to share some of the teachings of the Quran in this post.
Some of the teachings of the Quran
- Freedom of religion (2256, 554, 1340, 1829, 5045, 763).
- Freedom of preaching by other religions (6148, 2764).
- Right of all religions to have their places of worship free and protected (2240).
- Right given to every religion to prove it is best in doing good works (54.
- Right to ask questions about Islam (96).
- Right of non-Muslims not to be subjected to offence (3186, 6108, 7310).
- Right to express ones national/racial identity, culture and language (3022, 4913).
- People are only responsible of their own actions (1715).
- Blind following of leaders and tradition has been condemned (2170, 3367, 543).
- Freedom of speech (4140, 2013).
- The majority are not necessarily on the right path (6116).
- Followers of other religions can be rewarded with paradise in the next life (262, 3313-315, 3199).

Forced marriages are incompatible with islam
Quran 2433 Let those who are not able to marry continue to be chaste until God enriches them of His Bounty. If those whom you have over them contractual rights seek the signature, then sign with them if you find that they are ready, and give them from the wealth of God which He has bestowed upon you. Do not force your daughters into marriage when they have desired independence, in order that you may make a gain in the goods of this worldly life. But if anyone has compelled them, then considering their compulsion, God is Forgiving, Compassionate.
