How do you pray?

Does God mention in the quran that we need to use a specific language for praying or recitin the quran when performing as salat?

i believe when reciting the Quran in arabic is best, but useless if you dont understand it. So common sense prevails. Reciting the quran in its original language is beautiful and meaningful and by translating we are effectively not actualy using Gods words anymore, However the message can easily be translated more or less.

In regards to the Prayer, i believe Salat should be recited in arabic, at least the Surah al Fatihah , which is easy enough to learn, although God tells us not to come to Salat unless we know what were saying, which while it may be in relation to being drunk i think is just as valid if you dont understand it.

I believe reciting surah at fatihah is an important part of the Salat, and efforts should be made to learn it.

In the Quran you will find many examples of prophets/messengers making dua/prayer, and upholding the salat/bond, and of course they did not use Arabic.

When it comes to salat one must know what one is saying, thus if you know Arabic then use Arabic.
