Ablution(cleansing b4 prayig) and passing gas
-
Hello everyone!
Wudhu is the Islamic procedure for washing parts of the body using water, typically in preparation for formal prayers (salat), but also before handling and reading the Qur'an.
I would like to focus on the part of "wudhu" and whether itll "break" when one passes gas.
The problem is that i think it has affected my sanity a little bit as im VERY picky with this issue, i constantly keep redoing my ablution, whenever i feel the sence of little water drops falling on my feet i think i have passed gas. I keep thinking "dont redo your wudhu" but i feel i cannot control it, i do i automatically. If someone that has more intellect than me regarding this issue could help me with this i would be very thankful. I have searched the forum and as usual, people have different views on this point, so does passing gas break ones Wudhu??

peace,

Of course there is variance BUT what is the Quranic evidence for/against? That is key.
In my view, the answer to your question is simple no. See here

yes, however wudhu only needs to be done before prayer, so it shouldnt be too much of an issue

what if its too frustrating for some people to cleanse themselves due to the thoughts focusing whether one may have broken their "wudhu" due to the imagingation of having passed gas or not. If you know that passing gas nullifies your cleanliness and you get a thought that youve had passd gas somehow, would you redo the cleansing?
sorry for the spell and grammar)

Salaam, agphys,
Don't torture yourself with that kind of thing.Means are not an end, just means. If they detract you from your end, your purpose, then they are not means any more and are not justified.
Do your ablution and pray, do your ablution get your mind and heart on prayer and forget about the rest.
In this nobody can do it for you. You are not meant to be on a loop forever, I did ablution, but now, half minute down the prayer I do not know whether should... I did ablution, but now three quarters of a minute down the prayer I don'nt know whether...
There are no recipes for everything, you must cut all distracting especulations. Take a resolution which is feasible and natural for you and forget the rest. Leave it behind. You do not need anything for that Just your mind make up to be praye from begginning to end. You are the salaa itself. Do not let your mind to kidnap you.
Salaam

Hello,
Even without passing gas I wonder how clean the Body really is including the clothes that we wear, even if we clean ourselves like someone with OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder). The phenomenon of this ablution is rather silly. Thinking rationally if you just have kept the worst dirt from you (no mud, motor oil, other dirt etc) no separate sanctified ablution ought to be required. Before prayer it would be obvious that a person prefer to clean their hands in case they have a rough work including wipe the hair in case dust has landed on it. It is worth paying attention to that 1000-2000 years ago people in general had more rough work duties. It is nothing that if I was God would care anything about however in such a matter I would prescribe some ablution ritual. It is obvious that a person cleans themselves so they feel not distracted by the level of dirt on them. That I know from performing similar work and having problems being dirty when I am off work.
It is incredible that people rather follow a faulty interpretation of a religious scripture than apply common sense. What kind of God would care whether a person farts or not? Do you think God would feel disrespected by the smell?
The most advanced and perfect phenomenon (the Rabb) in existence cares about such unimportant matters?
As far as I know it is Pagans who are fanatical about rituals and rites that have to be performed in a strict sterile manner. Ask the Pharisee Rabbis of Jesus, they may have rebuked you for questioning their ancient traditions and if you did too much provocation they would have tried to find a way to persecute you.
Be safe
Amenuel
