question in Quran 5:15
-
Salam,
Thanks all for giving me a chance to participate in this forum. I have a question, hopefully your goodself can help me to clarify it.
In Quran chapter 515, (O people of the Book! There hath come to you our Messenger, revealing to you much that ye used to hide in the Book, and passing over much (that is now unnecessary) There hath come to you from Allah a (new) light and a perspicuous Book) Translation by Yusoof Ali
In this ayat, I not quite understand in this statement "There hath come to you from Allah a (new) light and a perspicuous Book". Is this light are referring to Muhammad or Al-quran?
Thank you.

In my view this verse points to Qoran as a message and messenger.
In the context GOD is addressing the Jews and Christians( And of course it applies to all who received a book before!)
515
O people of the scripture, our messenger has come to you to proclaim for you many things you have concealed in the scripture, and to pardon many other transgressions you have committed. A beacon has come to you from God, and a profound scripture.516
With it, God guides those who seek His approval. He guides them to the paths of peace, leads them out of darkness into the light by His leave, and guides them in a straight path.A "profound scripture --Qoran---gives us the answer, also "Yahdi bihi "--Qoran--is the messenger.
That is why GOD is adding the " blasphemy" in the next verse. i.e correcting the innovations and doctrines of man made religions.GOD bless you.
Peace.
