To those who know Arabic, why are there all these inserts in many translations
-
Many translations of the Quran that I have read have all these inserts as to explain better what is written. Why is that, isn't the Quran detailed?
Also, why is the Free minds version of the Quran so different? In the Free minds Quran it says" In the name of God ALMIGHT, mercifully at the beginning. All other Quran interpretations say Merciful compassionate, or most gracious most merciful. Or why do standard Quran interpretations say that Egyptians killed male children and that they left females alive and the Free minds Quran says rape females. How can there be such a big difference?
Thanks

Peace,
Or why the Free minds Quran doesn't have names of Suras? All Muslim's claim that the Quran has been preserved in Arabic 100% and the Free minds Quran says that the original doesn't have the names of Suras.
I can't speak or read Arabic, but for those who can, could you explain( briefly if possible), who has got it right please?
Thanks

One does not need to know Arabic to answer your questions.
Whenever you translate a text from one language into another language you will NEVER get a 100% correct representation of the original. Every single translation in existence is an interpretation to some degree.
Some translators choose to put brackets into their translation to explain their interpretation or to slant it towards their own view. Minimal external bias is best, i.e. minimal insertions.
For differences in translation I recommend using the forum search function. The examples you mentioned have been discussed.
Chapter titles are not in the original Arabic Quran, see any early manuscripts. Traditionalist Muslims even admit this.

It is true that there were no names of Surahs. Even in Quran, the word is "chapter". You are not gonna find God giving them names.
Why is that, isn't the Quran detailed?
I agree with Wakas about the translations from one language to another and twisting of the view. It is actually a good question. The brackets are powerful in brainwashing people. That is one of the reasons behind their inability to accept alternative interpretations. So we need to be very careful. As for translations, note that words of all languages are not same. Some have missing words. For instance, in certain languages, there is nothing called "she". Even English went through big changes. Some words you will find in Adventures of Shirlock Holmes no more appear in the dictionaries.

Peace,
Thanks Waka's and Reel.
Wakas, I have been searching on the net for Sunnis, admiring to inserting names of verses, or as a matter of fact, I have been searching the anyone saying it and I can't find it.
Can you provide a link that talks about them admitting to inserting names?
Thanks
