    This philosophy paper argues about the possibility that the universe is a simulation.

    http//www.simulation-argument.com/simulation.html

    Have clear in your mind that the author does not stand for the idea that we actually live in a simulation, but contemplate the odds that we are.

    Extrapolating his scenario -- post-human life forms -- I think this is a good argument for God.

    What you guys think?

      The world is a "testing ground" so simulation is not a too bad argument, but the question is "a simulation of what?" Rabb is testing subjects to see how they fare in this environment, so in that way it is a simulation. The imposed delusion is great so the difficulty level is also set high.

      Be well

        Salaam/Peace Lemke,

        Welcome to the Forum welcome

        Honestly, I haven't got time to read the paper yet.
        But I have seen the author (Nick Bostrom) and his "Simulation Hypothesis" sometime ago here

        https//www.youtube.com/watch?v=OO4uzgiRHkE

        First of all, I believe that our Lord AL-LAH may have indeed created many parallel Universes,
        based on this Indication I can clearly get here

        ==========
        18- ...... And to AL-LAH belongs the Sovereignty of the Heavens and the Earth (=i.e. a reference to our whole Universe here)
        and all that is between two-of-them (=because our whole Universe must be a perfectly Symmetrical Structure,
        hence the specific term (=baynahuma) = between two-of-them = the left side & the right side therein); .........

        120- ...... (And) to AL-LAH belongs the Sovereignty of the Heavens and the Earth (=i.e. a reference to all parallel Universes here)
        and all that is in all-of-them (=because that there may thus be many other parallel Universes created by our Lord AL-LAH,
        in addition to our Universe above,
        hence the specific term (=fiyhinna) = in all-of-them above); .........

        12- ...... AL-LAH Who has created seven Heavens (=i.e. perhaps a specific reference to seven parallel Universes
        that are exactly same/similar as our Universe)
        and the same number of Earths (=i.e. seven parallel Earths therein that are exactly same/similar to our Earth here);
        the Command (of AL-LAH) descends between all-of-them (=baynahunna therein); .........

        (=QURAN TESTAMENT 5/18 & 5/120 & 65/12)

        But then, I also strongly believe that
        our whole Universe here, and also many other parallel Universes out there
        --(if they really exist, based on that Indication I can clearly get due to/within those most specific Verses above)--
        have been created by our Lord AL-LAH as Perfect Reality, not as Simulations/Games,
        based on this Indication here

        ====================
        73- And HE is the ONE Who has created the Heavens and the Earth (=i.e. a reference to our whole Universe here, and possibly
        also to those many other parallel Universes out there above)-- as Perfect-Reality (=al-Haqq),
        and the Day HE says "Be," then it (instantly starts) to be! ..........

        16- And We did not create the Heavens and the Earth (=i.e. a reference to our whole Universe here, and possibly
        also to those many other parallel Universes again out there above)-- and what is between them
        as Simulation/Game Developers (=Laibeen).
        17- Had We willed to initiate (such) an entertainment, We could have initiated it from Our Presence, if such had been Our Will!

        11- Woe on that Day to the deniers.
        12- Who are in their recklessness, simulation/game developing (=yalaboon) (=i.e. specifically those
        that are absolute "waste of time" because absolutely distracting from or provoking against the "Message of AL-LAH" therein).
        13- The Day when they are thrust into the "Fire of Hell" (=i.e. "Emotional Pain/Burning") with a (fair/just) thrust.
        14- This is the "Fire" (=i.e. "Emotional Pain/Burning" therein again) which you used to deny (to taste it ever)!
        15- So is this (=planet Hell therein) also a Simulation/Game (now), or will you (still) not see (that it is Perfect-Reality)!

        (=QURAN TESTAMENT 6/73 = 21/16-17 = 52/11-15)

        Remain in peace/salaam.

          Thank you for this selection! In my next rereading of the Qu'ran, I will try to comprehend how this argument can be seen (or rejected).

          I don't think that a simulation is necessarily the same as false. At least not in a way that would make our lives a lie. If we have consciousness (in the scientific meaning), than something of us is true, even if "simulated".
