i liked this video. It may not be 100% accurate, but it gives a better outlook on our solar system than the old textbooks.

      Peace Layth.

The video provides no evidence. When talking about about the movement of the sun and the planets?

Now days distances are measured accurately at all points of the movement of the planets and their position from the sun,Mathematical evidence. It is also established that everything moves including the sun,( each planet, star moves in an orbit) making the whole system move.i.e solar system and galaxies...etc.

The video is trying to say something Qoran does not back up completely. Many other verses are left out completely.

For example,What is the word "Falaq"? Does it imply rotation in a circle?

I see the video as another attempt of having a certain belief then finding evidence for it.

The proper way should be to find evidence before any established belief, otherwise there is bias.

      GOD bless you.
      Peace.

Everything is moving towards Allah, the Goal, the total Annihilation of everything constantly, that also creates everything.

Allah and the Qur'an is very sophisticated in what it usually says. Things that it says can be pondered on in many directions. It is similar to the great little story in the Qur'an mentioning something like people thinking they are secure and then the roof collapsing on their heads. Similarly, the things in the Qur'an can also be like multifaceted and multi-dimensional statements, so that they are true in many ways all at once.

In regard to the sun, the Qur'an says some of the following

        2561
Blessed be He Who made constellations in the heaven and made in it a light-giving lamp and an illuminating moon.

        811
When the sun is compacted in blackness,

        555
The sun and the moon are perfectly calculated.

        2545
Do you not see your Lord how He extends the shadow? And if He willed, surely He (could) have made it stationary. Then We made the sun for it an indication.

(Allah controls the information in every detail, it is not "because because because" except ultimately "because of Allah" in every detail. It could be any other way too, none of it is necessarily this way, that is all an illusion for people to become obsessed by how things are as if they couldn't be any other way.)

        7116
And how He made the moon in them as a light and how He made the sun as a light-giving lamp?

(Notice the distinction made between the moon and Sun, referring specifically to the sun as "light giving" while the moon as illuminated. The use of "male and female" comparisons can also be considered, since males traditionally were used to connote "giving" and females "receiving", thus even "hell" is considered female as "receiver". In old mythology, the "sky" was usually considered male and the Earth female, where the Sky was seen as "giving" the water and the Earth receiving it and giving birth to things.)

        105
It is He who gave the sun its radiance, the moon its lustre, and appointed its stations so that you may compute years and numbers. God did not create them but with deliberation. He distinctly explains His signs for those who can understand.

        1817
And thou mightest have seen the sun when it rose move away from their cave to the right, and when it set go past them on the left, and they were in the cleft thereof. That was (one) of the portents of Allah. He whom Allah guideth, he indeed is led aright, and he whom He sendeth astray, for him thou wilt not find a guiding friend.

        (More control of information talk)

        912
And the moon when it follows it,

        3513
He causes to enter the night in (to) the day and He causes to enter the day in (to) the night, and He has subjected the sun and the moon each running for a term appointed. That (is) Allah, your Lord, for Him (is) the Dominion. And those whom you invoke besides Him, not they possess even (as much as) the membrane of a date-seed.

758 And the moon will eclipse.
759 And the sun and the moon will be brought together.
7510 The human being shall say on that day, `Whither to flee?'
7511 To nowhere at all, there is no refuge.
7512 Upon that day the recourse shall be to your Lord.
7513 Upon that day every soul shall be informed about all his commissions and omissions.

        132
Allah (is) the One Who raised the heavens without pillars that you see, then He established on the Throne and subjected the sun and the moon each running for a term appointed, He arranges the matter; He details the Signs so that you may in the meeting (with) your Lord believe with certainty.

        3109
And whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth is Allah's; and to Allah all things return

        3130
Thus it is, because God alone is the Ultimate Truth/The Ultimate Reality (Al-Haqq), so that all that men invoke instead of Him is sheer falsehood; and because God alone is exalted, truly great!

In general, it would be foolish to let our interpretation of a book make us believe something that goes against observations, if this would be the case. Like, deciding whether or not the sun is moving depending on what we understand from the Quran. If the sun is observed to move, but the Quran says it is still, then we need to look into our understanding of the quran instead of exclaiming that the sun stands still.
            Peace all!

Freedom, the sky as masculina and the earth as feminine? No, not for ancient egyptians, it was the sky feminine Mut and the earth Masculine Gibt, Fromwhich word the word egypt some say is derived.

I have never seen th sky represented as masculine, the earth feminine yes, but in general, the shole set of it, but not the sky as msculine.

That video is simply making stuff up. Making the Qur'an say things it didn't say doesn't sound very Islamic or muslim-like to me.

                Shalom Aleikhem,

Unless the Qur'an explicitly mentions that the sun and the moon orbits the earth, there is still a way left for anyone who is willing to believe otherwise to believe otherwise. From what I understand, the verses in the Qur'an seem to be describing something an observer would have seen and noticed with naked eyes. I drew this picture for helping me illustrate this point

                http//s12.postimg.org/k1zbfa4y5/randy.png

Look at this picture and try to put yourself in the shoes of Randy (I named the guy Randy D). Now consider the following verses

2133 And He is the One who has created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon, each swimming in an orbit.

So, the verse isn't saying anything Randy wouldn't have noticed on his own. Now consider this verse

3640 The sun is not required to overtake the moon, nor will the night precede the day; each of them is swimming in its own orbit.

Just as Randy would have observed as you can see from that illustration above. ANYONE who simply observed what the sun and the moon does would have figured that much. On top of that, humanity was well aware of eclipses thousands of years before Muhammad was even born.

The point I am trying to make here is

                1. The Qur'an doesn't necessarily outright say that the sun and the moon are orbiting the earth.
                2. The Qur'an doesn't say anything that a normal observer wouldn't have figured out on their own.

I think that the topic should have been discussed in the Science section of the Forum.

                Peace
