Depends who's funding the studies and how much exercise the participants get..
When it comes to vegan diet, idk what this "strict diet" is that you're talking about. Simply increasing fat intake will raise T. levels. Obviously the focus should be on eating healthy fats, not saturated fat. Most healthy fats come from plants anyway.

The thing with vegan diet is the amount of fats that you get is always pretty low, thus we would have to increase our food intake and eat like there is no tomorrow. Vegan diets are also pretty low in proteins, thus men tend to go towards soy which decreases testosterone. It's always best to have some of everything.

You misunderstood me. I said that saturated fat is dangerous when our main source of energy is carbohydrates. Otherwise, saturated fat increases HDL (good cholesterol) and decreases LDL (bad cholesterol)...

It's a misconception because our bodies are meant to be on fat rather than carbohydrates. Note that obesity increases at the same time as the world switches to carbohydrates (by the end of 1970s).

We're meant to live off saturated fat? Are you denying the hundreds of studies that show HIGHER saturated fat intake increases LDL cholesterol?

Did you come to those conclusions because you've tried eating this way before? Probably not.

Anyways It's useless arguing about this "vegan" topic. I am against animal cruelty, how animals are treated in farms and what they are doing to dogs, cats, cayotes in China, Korea and many other Asian countries.

            Yes, no )

These hundred studies are done while already eating carbohydrates.

            Carbohydrates+fat=increased LDL
Saturated fat as main energy source instead of carbohydrates=Increased HDL levels, decreased LDL levels.

Even unsaturated fat lowers cholesterol overall when minimizing carbohydrate intake

We are meant to live off fat, which saturated fat makes out the most.

Any study will tell you that you need a balanced diet to be healthy, and that includes the intake of carbs in as per minimum the 55% of daily macronutrient intake. I will never understand this holy war against carbs... fruits are mostly carbs and no one will tell you to keep them away from your diet. Keep a balanced healthy diet and that's all. Years ago the holy war was against all fats, now it is against all carbs tempt From where are we supposed to take the elements provided by fiber and complex carbs?
It sounds like the beauty - loss weight industry, once in a while they change the research so they come up with a brand new product or ingredient to promote so the industry goes on green tea, collagen, keratin, gluten free, eat more this and blabla... what is the next that will overfill the supermarket shelfs for the eager positivist and well informed consumers? What is the next superfood we desperately need?

In the end even monosaccharides carbs (sugars) are necessary, everything is necessary, in its meassure. Listen to your body. Balance is the key, imo.

btw I just cooked pastitsio, anyone in? eat

Sorry can't get what you mean... what happened in the 70?s?

Before 70s, majority of people consumed mainly fatty foods, meaning the main source of energy was fat.
During late 70s, a scientist conducted a research, globally. He studied the connection between foods and health.
Some time during his research, he supposedly came across a people eating large quantities of carbohydrates and fats and found that they have much more cardiovascular related disorders, and from this he concluded that fat is dangerous.
His research was incorrect, because he had also reported in his study that the Inuit people were among the healthiest because they lived mainly on fat (from fish).

So, everyone listened to this scientist, and then began the campaign against fat. It began in USA, and then spread to the world.
At the same time, obesity began increasing (today it's an epidemic), and more type-2 diabetes cases. This happens during the switching from fat rich lifestyle to a carbohydrate rich lifestyle.

                                  It's no coincidence.

                                    And then primarily sugars.

Carbohydrates are good for an active lifestyle, if in the appropriate proportions.

(Normal) Fat is not as bad as its reputation.

Refined carbohydrates are the problem, not carbohydrates in general.

For example, the carbohydrates in wholefoods such as fruit/veg/beans/etc are fine in appropriate portions.

The healthiest diets according to the research are primarily wholefood plant based diets. Note, "primarily" does not mean "entirely".

No, all carbohydrates are bad in large quantities. Refined or not, it triggers the same reactions that lead to obesity and other problems such as type-2 diabetes in the long run (can be reversed).

We do need carbohydrates, but these are in very small quantities, and this requirement is met when eating vegetables growing above ground, which is not starchy.
