The Golden Rule
-
Salam to all,I have a different view from the above.
Note
The Moral Life of Babies
Yale Psychology Professor Paul Bloom finds the origins of morality in infants
https//www.scientificamerican.com/article/the-moral-life-of-babies/There has been a lot of experiments done to with babies of less than one year old to demonstrate that the morality instinct and potential is inherent in humans.
The point is the surrounding and the nurture factors provide the opportunities for humans to develop and improve their morality instincts but at the same can depressed it as well.
Another point is all humans are born Muslims therefore morality is inherent in Islam as proven from the research done on babies of less than one year old.
thanks for the link peace

I was looking for the golden rule and I found that the Quran follows it. Also, major religions. My question is
Is the Golden Rule based on the ''reward and punishment'' system or is it something different?
Also, do you think it is inherent or is it acquired?
Golden rule is based on human in-nature capability for 'empathy'... well at least most of them.. psychopath doesn't have such capability wired to them.
Do unto others what you want others do to you.. requires one to imagine him/herself in other people's shoe.... what would I feel / want / do if I were him or her (or it). Which is no problem and occurs naturally for non-psychopathic human.
Clearly evident when humans sees a movie... especially horror movie.. the audience scream or scared as if he/she was the character inside the movie (being chased by some ghost or other villain)... the audience cries when the movie ends with a sad ending... Here the audience shows an empathy towards a fictional character inside the movie....
However.. empathy (and also common sense) can be suppressed through AUTHORITY... (Ideology, Religion, Holy Book, Deities, Great Leader etc..)
Thou shall not show empathy to them because they're our enemy, not within our group, a kufr, an infidel, a non-muslim, a non-christian, a jew, a gentile, a chinese, an immigrant, a foreigner, a communist, a tutsi and thousands of other label...
Kill them, torture them, extract money from them, confiscate their belonging, raid them, loot them, rape them, enslave them, expel them from our country etc... It's all justified because THE AUTHORITY said so... -

It's all justified because THE AUTHORITY said so...It is due to the human instinct of hierarchical alignment. When the instinct is let to take the upper hand the spirit becomes dim and the creature makes the most irrational deeds. It only takes submitting to something taken as authority in one's delusion.
Religion often takes the best of people.
Be well
Qarael Amenuel -
Golden rule is submission to God alone.

Golden rule is submission to God alone.
And what is submission (to God alone)?

And what is submission (to God alone)?
It's to submit to God alone, follow His system, which is found in Quran.

What does submission to God alone mean? What does it include for you?
