How can one determine the difference if one is being tested by Allah or being abused.

I guess and abusive relationship is a test by Allah. Just think that you are not yourself that you are your mother or any woman you respect and is far enough from you to be able to be objective and think whether it would be fair for her to put up with whtever it is.

On the other hand, we alays know, but fear that it is true. That that awful thing is hapenning to us. That we blinded ourselves to something we could nto see before...

ONe must be true to oneself, even if it is awful. Handling it will be the next stage, but the first is to accept it. And accepting this kind of thing usually goes with a feeling of guilt which makes it hard for us to accept because we tne dto feel guilty, probably we have been mde to feel guilty beforehand.

Truthfulness to ourselves in the first place.

      Salaam

This isn't necessarily limited to a relationship, the whole world wonders, specially those who suffered from other people's transgressions

"Are we being tested or are we being abused" ?
What a great question to sum it up. Subsequently,
"Do we have a say in this ?"
"Will things magically fix up ?"
"How far is our potential ?"
"Where is God when we need him?"
        "Is this God's plan ? "
"Shall we just live through this until our last breath ?"
        "..."

This hits the core of being a "believer". What does it mean ?
Acknowledging the idea of God - ok?
        Being nice to people ?
        Helping when we can ?
Why do we even help other people ?
The Creator apparently told us to help people, what happens when we help people, does it truely impacts their life ? What happens when we don't help people ? Does it affect their life ? Does it mean our actions impacts other lives ? Does it mean our actions impact our own life ?
Are we and all the living beings left to our own actions on this earth ?

Warning Signs of an Emotionally Abusive Relationship

Here's another on Symptoms of Domestic Violence

Generally speaking, I think relationships (romantic or otherwise) are a test for both people. You should treat each other well with kindness and care. You should know how to communicate and argue. If it is a strong relationship, you should be comfortable talking about difficult topics and being open and honest. You should know what your personal beliefs and values are. You should know your strengths and weaknesses. You should know how to admit when you're wrong, and how to put work into your relationship. No relationship is completely effortless, no matter how great it may be. It's complicated. There's work. There's choices to made there. You should be respectful and attentive of not only the other person in the relationship, and their wants and needs, but yourself as well. IMO the whole point in developing connections and relationships with people (beyond learning basic social skills and socio-cultural norms) is to learn who we want to be around, and who we don't. If you are being abused or simply don't want to be around someone, you're not fulfilling that duty to yourself.

You make choices, and the other person makes choices too. You are both responsible for your own choices and should not assume false responsibility of the other's. An abuser is responsible for the harmful choices he or she makes, and absolutely should be held accountable for causing that harm, whether physical or emotional. The victim is responsible for their own well-being and that of others (if there are others in danger who are incapable of caring for themselves). Unfortunately, this is where it gets difficult and a very sad situation because the victim may not recognize that they are being abused (such as with emotional abuse). They may not have the means or knowledge to escape their abuser. In which case, outside support is so important. It can be hard to get them to leave if they don't want to. But they need to know they have other options and that leaving is possible.

Test of God does not last long. It is temporary in nature, but the mistake made by going in a relationship with an abusive person is hard to correct because the abuse keeps persisting. The problem is usually in that person. If they are narcissistic they may not realize that they are being abusive.
