How can we reconcile the mercifulness of God with the purpose of our existence?
-
Gods speaks to people the languge of mercy, if we do not like that language or if it is not good enough for us he can use the language of power. None of them gurantees that we will go through life without suffering, because suffering is a comonent of the dunya, this world, but God guarantees us that we will be satisfied, that we will not be shortchanged and that we will attain plenitude and bliss.
The languag of mercy will help u get through this life with the least suffering and the most cliss also inthis life.
On the ther hand we know, because the Qur'an tells us time, and time again that we will return to him forever, that to Him is destiny. ilahi el maSir .
So yes, we are inthis world out of His Mercy and will leave his world out of His mercy. It is nto because "bad things" happen that there is lack of mercy, we will know mercy better recisely because there is suffering.

you asked the question what seems difficult for angels too.
they ask same question but after that they understand that God alone knows the secrets of heavens and earthso if they understood it , why dnt we are understanding , becoz some things are beyond the reach of human perception ..
i still dnt understand why people afraid/confuse of punishments even the courts of every where punish the criminals , same happen with the criminals hereafter.. if we believe that there is no punishment of criminals then purpose look more confusing/disturbing..
question is why did he create criminals at first point?
now that part is bit tricky
and what if we wanted to get upgrade ourselves ? and a deal happen between lord and creation of lord .. the deal/offer which is rejected by the heavens and earth..so how can we blame God if we start going against the deal/contract
we only see from this angle that he creates us and he is watching our pain like a circus master its not true
its between humanity and God .. right now we dnt remember
but God is not illogical otherwise he is not God...its another matter this logic is fully understandable in hereafter..

No offense, but what a foolish question!?
Should Allah not have created all of us on account of the fools and beasts who CHOOSE to not reason and to submit to the APPARENT TRUTH, while there are also many of those deserving of His Mercy and eternal bliss?!!
Very dumb question

questions are always questions.
the same question is asked by malaika?
were they foolish according to you?whats about the creation like malaika , who are not fools and beasts but still a blessed creation?
why dnt you/me are maliks?
thats what actually OP asked ..
now keeping this thing in mind , give him reply which make him learn a lot of things icluding us if you already crack the puzzle of "life purpose"

If you claim to be merciful and then you create men knowing that they are going to suffer in Hell, something doesn't add up. It doesn't sound merciful at all.
Yes, we have free will and we can determine whether we're going to Heaven or Hell through our actions, but some of us are going to Hell anyway. If we'd never been created we wouldn't be in that situation. -
If God is so merciful, why did He create human beings knowing that some of them would be going to disbelieve, spread corruption, kill, hurt and sin? He already knew from the very beginning that they would be going to Hell, so why did He decide to go on with the creation anyway? How is this merciful?
I thought it was us who took the responsibility when he said it would be impossible for us to complete it. http//corpus.quran.com/translation.jsp?chapter=33&verse=72
Our ending in this life does not close our chapter.
How is this merciful?
Humans won't find the merciful God if they vandalize the creations while taking scholars and politicians as their Gods.

Such bluntness is the norm with certain forum members. Just get used to it.

Yes, we have free will and we can determine whether we're going to Heaven or Hell through our actions, but some of us are going to Hell anyway. If we'd never been created we wouldn't be in that situation. The thing that doesn't add up is definitely our understanding. It is our understanding that is lacking. Even our logic becomes flawed due to our extremely limited scope.
I seriously doubt that we understand what's going on. We try to reason beyond reason. We worship our mental faculties, our brain and intellect. We worship it. But what we miss is that our brain and mind will never make us experience God or reality. The intellect is just a tool, but we worship it like a deity. We also create a false dichotomy between emotions and reason, while these are just worldly things, parts of our worldly bodies. The permeating presence of God, is invisible to use due to our worship of our worldly avatars-realities. God is closer to us than our jugular vein. It's really like birds debating the existence of air.
Also, we keep calling God as a he, a separate entity. It would be wise to cease doing this, so that we can begin to sense reality.
