    Dear people,

I hope this doesn't sound weird, but I don't feel comfortable when I pray. There is a serious lack of emotional connection. I must say that I experience a general lack of emotions in my daily life, which stems from difficult and depressing circumstances that have occured a few years ago. I got diagnosed with antisocial and borderline traits (personality disorder NOS). I am waiting for mental health treatment but there are long waiting lists for therapy. Besides that, I fear that I when die, God would say "You converted a few months ago, but you have only prayed three times, go to Hell." To be honest, I have rarely heard of muslims not feeling anything special while praying. I have zero motivation because I feel more disconnected while praying, because I know and wish that I could feel something about it.

Any advice? Will I go to hell? Is my lack of salat understandable? I wish everyone a good evening.

Tell me my dear, how do you pray?
Take me through your thought process, your emotional state, your preparation, your attitude in regards to your salat.

but you have only prayed three times, go to Hell."

where God said pray three or five times?
and where he did say if somebody dnt pray he will go to hell?
what do you think a salat and pray is?

Any advice? Will I go to hell? Is my lack of salat understandable? I wish everyone a good evening.

        Good evening,
you will go to hell if you proved as a criminal against the system of God , i mean if you spread corruption like murder, steal, rape and other multiple things...

BOLD no he will judge you by your heart... even if you do salat or pray like hindus or like christinas or like muslims if innerside is submitting to God and honest to God then you really dnt need to worry... he knows what we conceal and what we show...

NOTE and if you are reincarnation then probably God will make your life hell (kidding) because you are concealing the truth a possible kufar... rotfl

          Salam and Peace

You don't know if God will admit you to Paradise or to Hell. The good news though is that you have submitted to God alone. In a few verses in Quran, a requirement is to have submitted to God alone (2132,7126).

In case you haven't submitted, in 2131 we are told what to say.

Have you repented? If not, then do it sincerely to God. You know your sins. Seek forgiveness.

Are you doing good works? A good way to come closer to God is to do good works, such as giving to charity, helping others, spreading the message (there are many more ways in Quran). Purify.

Lastly, do not despair. Be patient, things might feel hopeless but it's only temporary.

          Here, a few verses;
3953 Say ?O My servants who transgressed against themselves, do not
despair of the mercy of God. For God forgives all sins. He is the
          Forgiver, the Merciful.?
3954 And repent to your Lord, and submit to Him, before the retribution comes to you.
          Then you cannot be helped.
3955 And follow the best of what has been sent down to you from your
Lord, before the retribution comes to you suddenly when you
          least expect it.
3956 Lest a soul will say ?How sorry I am for disregarding the path of
God; and I was certainly one of those who mocked.?
3957 Or say ?Had God guided me, I would have been among the
          righteous.?
3958 Or say, when it sees the retribution ?If only I could have another
chance, I would be among the good doers.?

WARNING Beware that God won't forgive setting up partners with Him if maintained till death, and when death approaches, repentance will not be accepted as we see in Pharaoh's case (41.

          Salam

firoon was a criminal i.e slavery, raping, killing were his fav hobbies...

i dnt remember if he also was the one who set up partners becoz traditional stories tells us "he himself claimed to be a god".. and ask people to prostrate him physically..

Maybe you're looking for 7924. In 7127 we learn that Pharaoh set up many partners with God.

7127 And the commanders from among the people of Pharaoh said
?Will you let Moses and his people corrupt the land, and abandon
you and your gods?? He said ?We will kill their children and
rape their women; we will be supreme over them.?

              Salam

yeh so basically firoon was the worst of creature.. he dnt even acknowledge his own fake gods..
instead he claimed himself a lord , and spread corruption on extreme level..

the interesting part is even after doing all this, God send message towards him to amend his ways perhaps he may listen.
but he on the other hand did not recognise the truth even after realising the truth from heart that the God of moses is truth

he actually concealed the truth but his main crimes was transgressing and blood sheeding..

its mean God can forgive the capital sins if one wills to get redeem (i mean if immorality is commited in ignorance is forgiveable)

the main requirement from firoon was to free the children of israeel

i just want to tell people that when we think all people will go to hell just becoz they are unable to grasp the nature of God its quite confusing for me..

                its like
in a court .. if you dnt believe in judge , he will not punish you
if you do kill then he will punish you even if you are his frd and you beleive him as judge... (ponder about this)

                  Welcome to the Forum!
I am not sure what you mean by "emotional connection" during prayer. You compare it with emotions towards people. I don't feel emotions during prayer in that sense. Praying for me is a very different matter. For me it has some similarities to yoga, which I practised in earlier years. Sorry, if it's annoying for anyone, to compare praying with yoga, but merely technically it is also about letting go thoughts about everyday business and be present as much we are able with what we currently do. Not think about oneself I am a person with lack of emotions, or not even think something like I am a good person, because I am praying. Just do your part and be present and aware what you say. Very simple. It is not about emotions.

It is something I can understand.

What worked for me - which may not work for you ....... was meditation - ie seek refuge in God from Satan the Outcast and practice a form of detachment with eyes closed (in a quiet place) and feeling God around you with your senses or soul....

Sorry if this seems vague, but I think when it comes to emotions and spirituality (for me they are linked) different things work for different people.

Its a bit like asking who feels "true" love.... some do some don't.

                    Good luck.

Thanks for your understanding. I'll will try. I must say that when I think about praying before sleeping, I pray in my dream and can feel good. I think my emotions are just stuck in my subconscious, lol.

                        Hi,
According to Quran, prayer (I'm not talking about salat..salat is nor prayer! salat is an entirely different thing) is such a thing that doesn't rely on any standardized procedure. It must be done secretly and honestly with your inner voice or with a gentle tone. I hope this makes a bit helping in your journey of the comprehending what prayer really is according to Quran.

                        Regards.
