Parental Issues !

Some of u prolly have probs with ur parents in terms of religion .. like my parents stress on the hadith and say that without believeing in them u cant be a muslim but I on the other hand say that I only support the Quran .... i-ve just learnt to keep quite and say to urself that 'they believe they are follwoing the straight path, let it be' and I Believe that I am following ythe straight path, then let it be' ... hehe .. yday like they were saying how boys are supposed to be away from girls etc but they do it themselves ... haha what irony ?
Yday on TV, there was this hadith which said that a man shouldnt talk to a women unless her husband gives him permission .. OOOO i wouldnt dare to ask her map directions etc ... haha ... does this hadtih make any sense ? what bout that hadith which says that between a man and woman alone there is a 3rd peson which is the devil .. haha -

I personally dont have many parent issues, but I can understand what you mean. I believe the main reason for such issues is quite simply lack of knowledge of islam. For example, I am extremely confident most Muslims have not read al quran (in a language they understand!), thus most Muslims are actually classing themselves as such without even reading the book that their faith is based on!

http//www.free-minds.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1864My advice is to be civil. Point out the small things if an opportunity arises. Hopefully, this will at least, make them reflect, but ultimately if someone is not willing to verify, they are likely to remain with such an attitude.
I have always said, I do not care if Muslims do not believe as I do, as long as they actually read al quran to see for themselves.

The wife should not talk to people that her husband does not feel comfortable about. And the same goes with him. But anyway as long as there is good communication between the couple these matters wouldn't be a problem.

I couldn't agree more on this with you Wakas. That is 100% true. My parents and grandparents don't know a single word of Arabic, yet my grandmother makes such a big deal when the younger kids aren't reciting Quranic verses everyday. That too, if the kids say one word in a different accent or what not, she gets angry. That is how she has memorized the entire Book herself! Yet, she beilieves that girls who use makeup will have snakes biting their faces in their graves!!!
