    Peace.

I think you guys got it wrong about which Sufi group I am talking about. Universal Sufis are not a Islamic Sufis. Universal Sufis take from all religions and unify them. Yes, they do have some similar practices as the Islamic Sufi practices, but they take lessons from all religions.

If you want to learn about Universal Sufism, there is plenty on the internet. The founder of Univereal Sufism is called Hazrat Inayat Khan. Again, you can google, look into his teachings, and then the you can give me perhaps a better answer.

    Thanks

What is wrong with the answer I gave you?

    Salaam

Huruf, Nothing is wrong with the advice you gave me. It just seems to me that people think that I am talking about an Islamic Sufi group. When in fact I am talking about UNIVERSAL Sufism.

      Thanks

You have been "pranked" by them. Every single religion is connected to each other and all of them have one root. There is no difference in the core. Its only the priests and rulers who made them appear different.

List of groups with that same kind of sufi claim
        https//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brahma_Kumaris
        https//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bah%C3%A1%27%C3%AD_Faith
        https//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Druze

What makes them different is that they don't keep things secret. They won't say you need this whole freemason like initiation and they certainly don't have lodge like orders.

As for Universal Sufis, no, it isn't anything different. Inayat just modernized sufism and opened "The Sufi Order in the West". See this deception also

The house in which he grew up was a crossroads for visiting poets, composers, mystics, and thinkers. There they met and discussed their views (religious and otherwise) in an environment of openness and mutual understanding. This produced in the young man a sympathy for many different religions, and a strong feeling of the "oneness" of all faiths and creeds.

Read the entire stuff from http//www.om-guru.com/html/saints/khan.html
What's written is what sufism is all about from the very beginning. None comes from his own realization.

From the same url, upfront deception

For a long time, Inayat refused to give it a name fearing it would create barriers between people. He would say only it was ancient wisdom from the one and only source. He emphasized how none of the great spiritual teachers gave a name to their religious views. Finally, knowing that a body of thought needs some identifier to unify it, he told people it was Sufism.

Why unification would cause barriers between people? But again, sufi people have a habit of keeping things secret. There was someone on our subreddit some months ago who actually had some interesting perception about certain parts of the Quran. This person kept saying he didn't want to give details because he feared of being found by his sufi people. In the end, he disappointed us by leaving.

          Peace.

I have recently made a choice to initiate myself into the Universal Sufi order. Now, they take lessons from all religions. In the coming days, I am supposed to get initiated.

If you want to keep any religion, that's fine with Universal Sufis. So, I can be a Quran only Muslim and join the order. I was told that I don't need to give up anything.

So, the question is Is what I am about to do setting up partners with God?

          Thanks

If you take them as teachers, or if they ask you to take them as teachers of religious stuff and about God, then surely by Qur'an standard you are setting them as partners with God.
For, according to Qur'an, God must be the only Rabb, i.e. teacher of religious stuff.

On the other hand, if they are only awliya, i.e. coaches to help you on your spiritual path, then, by my own understanding of Qur'an, that's should be fine (but please don't take me as a rabb).

In any case I don't Universal Sufism, so I don't know their value and can't tell.
I have looked at some sufi doctrines, and I personally prefer Rumi and Attar, especially Attar. Their vision of God makes more sense (or more understandable) to me than the others.

              Peace,

Hp tech, I don't interpret the Quran literally, and I like mixing worship, spiritual exercises, meditation, etc.

Do you think that is wrong? If you do, then why?

A dignified inquiry warrants a dignified response.
You did not even answer my question, but rather raised a completely different issue.

I think arbitrarily deciding to not interpret the ENTIRE Quran literally would be a grave mistake on your part. As we know there are parts which are the foundations of the book umm al kitab and others allegorical.

Do you now claim Allah's entire book is allegorical and open to your interpretation? At your choosing? Indeed that is the wish of the evil doers. Steer away from that route.

Mixing worship, spiritual exercises? What do you mean? You haven't provided sufficient information for me to understand what it is you are doing.

I also used to study and love Sufism a lot (especially the Mevlevi and Bektashi order) before I became a Quran alone follower.
But there is a lot of hidden Shirk..

An interesting video which also reminded me of some Sufi teachings

Thanks hp, in search for the truth I have looked into near death experiences. Most of them talk about feeling unconditional love. I don't think that Quran only is true and every other religion false.

The thing I like about Quran are the prayers. Like I think that sajda is a wonderful worship practice, but I might not believe in everything in the Quran, whether you take it literally or not. So yes, the Quran alone is not enough, which is why I like Universal Sufism.

I believe that all religions have some truth, but I don't believe that there is one religion that's entirely true, as in every single sentence.

The exercises I do are breathing exercises, zikr, wasifa( pretty much same as zikr), concentration exercises, etc.

                    Thanks

in search for the truth I have looked into near death experiences.

That's a strange and the wrong place to search for "the truth".

Most of them talk about feeling unconditional love.

Most people think dinosaurs are assembled from real bones
Most people think NASA landed the first man on the moon
                      Most people talk about nonsense

You'd leave Allah's guidance because of most of them?

I don't think that Quran only is true and every other religion false.

What in the world is Quran only? Is it a religion you named? There is no Quranism there is no Quran Alone

There is only Islam and it is much more than a religion it is The Only True System all others are falsehood. All other systems are flawed and contradictory, no other systems have The book enlightening or authority having come to them with Allah's Own Authorship. None.

The thing I like about Quran are the prayers. Like I think that sajda is a wonderful worship practice, but I might not believe in everything in the Quran, whether you take it literally or not. So yes, the Quran alone is not enough, which is why I like Universal Sufism.

You cannot pick and choose what you like and don't like ALL is from Allah Lord of the Worlds. As for me Allah is sufficient

Then Peace be upon you, we do not seek the ignorant

5727 Then We sent in their tracks Our messengers. We sent Jesus the son of Mary, and We gave him the Injeel, and We ordained in the hearts of his followers kindness and compassion. But they invented monasticism which We never decreed for them. They wanted to please God, but they did not observe it the way it should have been observed. Consequently, We gave those who acknowledged among them their recompense, while many of them were wicked.

577 Say, ?O People of the Book! Do not overstep the bounds of truth in your religious beliefs. And do not follow the errant views of people who have gone astray long before, and led a great many others astray, and those who are still straying from the even way.

4221 They follow idols who decree for them religious laws never authorized by God. If it were not for the predetermined decision, they would have been judged immediately. Indeed, the transgressors have incurred a painful retribution.

934 O you who acknowledge, many of the scholars and priests consume people's money in falsehood, and they turn away from the path of God. Those who hoard gold and silver, and do not spend it in the cause of God, give them news of a painful retribution.

6159 Those who have divided their system and become sects, you have nothing to do with them. Their matter will be with God, then, He will inform them of what they had done.

6114 Shall I seek other than GOD as a judge, when He has revealed to you this book fully detailed?* Those who received the scripture recognize that it has been revealed from your Lord, truthfully. You shall not harbor any doubt.

2165 Among the people are some who take other than God as equals to Him, they love them as they love God; but those who acknowledge love God more strongly; and when those who were wicked see the retribution, they will see that all power belongs to God, and that God is severe in retribution.

2166 When those who were followed will disown those who followed them, they will see the retribution; all means have abandoned them.

2167 Those who followed them said, "If we only could have a chance to disown them as they have disowned us." It is such that God will show them their works, which will be regretted by them; they will not leave the fire.

I am no longer a Sunna-rejecter. See 4:59-65, 62:2-4, 3:31, 4:156, 7:157 Messenger teaches and is to be followed and obeyed. Examples of revelation received which is not in the Qur'an: 3:123-126, 33:37, 2:187, 66:3, 62:9.

Ok, you guys have me convinced. About ten more minutes ago, I canceled the initiation and I have let the universal Sufi teacher that I won't be going to their meetings, atleast not for now.

Now, how do I tell which is true, between the Quran and the Bible? I have been thinking that there is some truth everywhere, but that not one religion is that entirely true. Where to now?

                          Thanks
