Just out of curiosity, how do you feel about your daughter converted to the religion of Islam?

I am not sure. Hopefully it will not make too much difference in her life.

        Greetings and Peace, all group

        @openmind welcome

Most on this website don't follow traditional/popular Islam. Many here do not even view Islam as a religion, but more as a way of life. If you have the opportunity, please peruse the articles on the main page.

Did you have any specific questions or concerns?

2256 There is no compulsion in the system; the proper way has been clarified from the wrong way. Whoever rejects evil, and believes in God, indeed he has taken grasp of the strongest hold that will never break. God is Hearer, Knower.

May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you.
May the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace.

        peace

Welcome to the forum. ) I think it's really sweet you've come here to learn more about your daughter's way of life. Congratulations to her, by the way.

Do you know if your daughter converted because she believed Islam is the truth, or because she felt she had to for the sake of her new husband or his family? Her answer will determine how much she believes and practices, if at all. I would try to sit down with her and have a conversation about her newfound beliefs. Maybe she'll tell you all you need to know or understand. Maybe not. At the least, I'm sure she can reassure you that she's still the same person, and she'll always be your daughter.

Do you know if she and her husband identify as Shia or Sunni? These are the two major sects in Islam, and whichever one she and her husband identify with will determine what they believe and practice. Their chosen school of thought will further refine that as well. Like anything else, her husband's family and cultural background will also factor into what he knows, believes, practices, etc., regarding religion. If she intends to be a practicing Muslim, I'm sure he'll be helping her learn.

As Abdul-Hadi said, this isn't a traditionalist website/forum. The vast majority of Muslims accept the hadith collections (the alleged sayings and actions of the Islamic prophet Muhammad) as the secondary source of Islamic law (with the Qur'an being the first), and with hadiths necessary for understanding and expanding upon Islam and the Qur'an. Here on Free Minds, we don't accept hadith. We only accept the Qur'an. (You're welcome here nonetheless!) So the beliefs and thoughts you'll see here are quite different.

Due to this huge difference, I would advise you to check out more orthodox websites and forums, since I doubt your daughter married into a family that believes as we do. If you're really interested in learning more, you can pick up a good English translation of the Qur'an. The Qur'an is "universal" in Islam, although translations and commentaries vary (of which there are many). You can also check out scholarly lectures, stories from the prophet and Qur'an, and other traditional Islamic videos on YouTube.

How far away do your daughter and her husband live? Can you attend the mosque/masjid with them (if they go)? We're in the middle of the traditional fast of Ramadan right now. Are they fasting? You could go with them to Friday prayer, or to break the fast with them at night. If they're not close to you, you could stop by one that's in your local area. Meeting with other Muslims in person may be the best option, especially if you don't have that much exposure to Muslims. If you decide you want to pursue this experience, I would email or call your local mosque ahead of time.

          Best of luck!

The main reason for conversion was the marriage. It was a requirement from the husband and his family. Yes they are fasting for Ramadan. I attended the iftar at their mosque last week. Interesting that the people here do not believe in the hadiths. I thought all Muslim accept at least some of them.

              Greetings and Peace, all group

For myself, I accept only the hadith and Sunnah contained in the Qur'an. I reject ALL extra-Qur'anic hadith and extra-Qur'anic Sunnah for purposes of the deen/system of Islam.

Of course there is wisdom outside of the Qur'an--it can be considered and perhaps appropriately used independently. A cookbook for cooking, a manual for car repair, and the Qur'an for purposes of the system of Islam.

The Qur'an, calls itself the "best hadith", states that it is complete, fully detailed, enough for a believer, protected, and so forth--and yet most who call themselves Muslims don't actually adhere to its guidance.

              peace

                Peace openmind.

It is a long story the hadiths. please browse
                http//www.total-loyalty-to-god-alone.co.uk/simple-and-universal-message/

All religions have deviated from GOD s original message and divided themselves into different factions and sects, creating their own books and fabricating rules and inserting traditions . They monopolise GOD s only religion into their own and claim it is the truth .Each religion claiming to be the one above all other religions when in fact they are all made up.
                Anyway,welcome.
                GOD bless you.
                Peace.

I would not call it manipulation. It was done willingly since we are not that religious a family.

Sorry for dragging an old topic, but I'm of a similar mind to Reel, but feel I need to be harsher.

At best, your daughter is a "Kuffar" one that "hides", some traits are described as such here

                      https//quran.com/2/14-20

It all depends on whether she fully understood what it meant to "convert", if she was tricked, of course she is ignorant and hold no fault. Otherwise, she'll be punished for it on death for being a liar.

Your daughters "husband" (bare in mind that as she is a fake believer, the marriage isn't valid) will suffer worse for this deception against God, and if his family is aware of it too, them as well.

I don't mean to be harsh, but its the honest opinion. Conversion to Islam should not be treated lightly, its a direct link and pact to God, that's not to say that I believe leaving Islam should be punished, but openly describing oneself as such but privately being a disbeliever is. They would be better off being an unmarried couple for life and ironically I wouldn't think anything bad of it.

                      But Lying...
