Why did Salomon want to fight the Queen of Sheba if there is no compulsion in religion?
"Return to them, for we will surely come to them with soldiers that they will be powerless to encounter, and we will surely expel them therefrom in humiliation, and they will be debased."
First of all, she was not attacking him, and even when he sent someone to tell her to come to Islam she didn't try to advance against him. So why did he have to threaten to expel them?
Because the translation is less than adequate.

It is not my theory that islam means peacefulness or peacemaking, it's what can be commonly read here on this forum.
Another theory is that islam means submission. In that case, the story of Solomon and Queen of Sheba starts to make sense the Queen of Sheba had to submit to Solomon's religion, without choice.
But in that case, arguing that there is no compulsion in religion is not true anymore.Note my theory is that islam means lucidity, clear state of mind, not submission nor peacemaking.

Islam can mean peacemaker with a peaceful intention,by choice . Become Muslim can also mean change to being a peaceful person from within towards yourself first which will lead to being at peace with others..
Islam is a state of mind to acquire peace within oneself,then with all creation by choosing to be at peace/ in submission to the Creator and the one and only system . Following the "Straight path"-Sirat Al-Mustaqueem- is that system.
The opposite is to follow "Taghut" -crooked path- Oppression,corruption,unjustice...etc.
However there are different meaning within the context of Qoran also that depend on the derivatives of the word.
Qoran is unlike any other book,one word can have different meanings sometimes depending on the context.GOD bless.

I take its more of as the middle path than straight one, there's a belief here the extremes are evil at both ends and middle path is the path to heaven and belongs to God. Carefully we examine, everything we face has both good and bad embedded within, the same thing can be good at some time and bad at other times, the path we need to take or our decision is to attain some balance. just my thoughts. -
