    Peace all,

I just wanted to write a brief thread in relation to a new project I've got going as a way of putting forward my understanding of monotheism.

I've started it just this week and things are still quite raw; but I want to keep things as simple as possible in relation to how the site is organised.

I hope people can write me in relation to feedback on it.

Thank you in anticipation of your helpful critiques.

    Regards.

      Salaam,

Why do you have 3 different links with the same exact thing on it?

          Peace truth,

Just want to give my 2 cents about the translation of "Allah" into "The God"

In Arabic the word "god" standing for any god is "Ilaah" Therefore "The God" would be "Al-Ilaah" which is not the same as Allah...thats my understanding of the term. Therefore I think it is more correct to simply translate it as God. It also sounds better in my opinion... Just my take. Keep up the good work and God bless you for your efforts. Peace,

          Omar

            Dear Omar

Al-elaha is very near the hebrew word Elohim, also wrongly
translated by god in the western world. Elohim is a plural and
            Eloha is a singular.

I think it is incorrect and erroneous to translate Allah with God or
            Dieu, or Dios.
In the name of the Creator, the Originator, the Protector

            What do you think ?

              Peace truth.seeker,

Thank you for your offer. I am probably most in need of a php based code that does not require a database backend to allow easy entry of new material. There is a webblog type thing known as 'bloxsom' that requires no database but I'll have to customise it extensively to work; or learn it more thoroughly in order to write the code myself.

As far as prettying it up goes. I think I want to get the content to the highest level before concetrating too much on aesthetics.

Let me know what you were thinking through email and maybe we can do something that isn't too burdensome on yourself.

              Regards.

                Peace Omar,

Translation as "the God" at first seems unnatural and not being the originator of this translation, it did seem odd to me at first too. Odd in appearance as well as sound.

It takes a while but I think in the end it reflects the title 'Allah' more accurately than 'God'. The way 'God' is used it seems analogous to a name. You can substitute a name for the word 'God' and thus in an indirect way it 'personifies' the Creator.

By using 'the God' there is no naming involved and it does not create the personification that 'God' by itself does.

'Al-ilah' would be 'the god' not 'the God'. Are we splitting hairs? Maybe.

In any case I believe that the 'name' of the God if you can call it that is "Ar-Rahman".

The reason is quite obvious really. Translating the basmalah gives

"In the name of the God, Ar-Rahman, the most merciful"

It's the first thing the God introduces to us. Moreover the name Ar-Rahman occurs on its own in 551, and no other 'name/attribute' occurs in isolation like this does. It's never used without the definite article like the other 'attributes' are in normal grammatical phrases. This makes it unique in many ways.

These are just my thoughts and no one else is obligated to agree.

                Regards.

Hi, I would also like to participate in this project!
By now I can share my webhosting which supports php+mysql and other stuff for maybe mirroring or something like this.
By the way, what shall be the tech concept of the site - will it be a blog/knowledgebase or just heap of webpages collected in one place? What about making it multilanguage?
                  And what about design stuff?

Thank you for your offers of support to everyone who has offered.

The project is still in its infancy. It does not need a big server etc until the content is significantly increased. I see it as a collection of pages more than anything else.

A reference to clear monotheism that completely debunks the organised religion baggage.

I eventually want to use a translation of the koran that is similarly pure; but this may be a way off. For the moment I like Ahmed Ali's translation but there are copyright issues with that. I've been scanning it in for my own use and will approach the publishers for permission to put it up on the website when I have it all scanned in.

The website will not mention 'Islam' as a religion or separate entity and will not quote the koran ad infinitum. Anyone who needs to refer to the message should be wanting and able to do it for themselves. There's plenty of God alone related koran study around already anyhow and I don't want to duplicate it.

As much as possible it will also avoid any Arabic terms and keep strictly to English where there is a word that suffices. God's way is universal and can be expressed to people of any language - there should not be a language barrier to follow it.

For this reason the translation project into other languages that Daniyar mentioned could certainly happen if the content was found to be deserving when completed. It would be a formidable task though.

In any case it is a slow project that I'll be working on the weekends, and when it has significant progression I will post a note here from time to time.

Why the three different domains all pointing to the same site? Well I've seen too many other cases where the .net, .org etc will be taken by other groups who want to sabotage the message of a website by taking traffic that either gets there by accident or search engine. Eventually though the sites may have different information. So the .info may have information on the message (ie. the existing content), the .net may be for networking of people, and .org would be organisational.

                    Regards.
