    I have examined this aya and and asked myself about the translations of it.

    In about half of the translations in English I hae checked it is al translated as finished action, and in about half of them part of it is finished action and part of it is unfinished action, which is the way it is written in Arabic.

    In other languages I have checked all is translated as finished
    action.

    I give two translations

    Yusuf Ali
    110. Then will Allah say "O Jesus the son of Mary! Recount My favour to thee and to thy mother. Behold! I strengthened thee with the holy spirit, so that thou didst speak to the people in childhood and in maturity. Behold! I taught thee the Book and Wisdom, the Law and the Gospel and behold! thou makest out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, by My leave, and thou breathest into it and it becometh a bird by My leave, and thou healest those born blind, and the lepers, by My leave. And behold! thou bringest forth the dead by My leave. And behold! I did restrain the Children of Israel from (violence to) thee when thou didst show them the clear Signs, and the unbelievers among them said 'This is nothing but evident magic.'

    Pickthall

    When Allah saith O Jesus, son of Mary! Remember My favour unto thee and unto thy mother; how I strengthened thee with the holy Spirit, so that thou spakest unto mankind in the cradle as in maturity; and how I taught thee the Scripture and Wisdom and the Torah and the Gospel; and how thou didst shape of clay as it were the likeness of a bird by My permission, and didst blow upon it and it was a bird by My permission, and thou didst heal him who was born blind and the leper by My permission; and how thou didst raise the dead by My permission; and how I restrained the Children of Israel from (harming) thee when thou camest unto them with clear proofs, and those of them who disbelieved exclaimed This is naught else than mere magic;

    As you can see, Yusuf Ali's translations sticks to the original, but not so the other. In fact, as we read, we would have thought that the one which maintains all actions as finished would have been the one to be expected. But in fact the Qur'an puts those sentences as unfinished.

    God helped 3isa Ibnu Maryam with ruh al qudus, the spirit of holiness, but no longer helps Him with it, but still 3isa Ibnu Maryam
    heals lepers, cures the blind, brings out the dead and creates like birds.

    If not that, what is the reason for int he same stretch give something as finished and something as unfinished?

    Please when answering, stick to the Qur'an, which is the reason for my question. About the Gospels I already have all the answers I need.

    Salaam

      When someone asks you "Recall", it is always about the past which you retrieve from your memory.

      When one is reminding someone of past event and mentions ongoing circumstance of those days it is described by imperfect verb.

      The day when Allah the Exalted would have said "O you Easa son of Maryam!

      Recall My favour-blessing upon you and upon your mother when I protected you through Archangel Gibraa'iel .

      Recall you used to speak-converse with the people in the cradle/as milk sucking baby in the lap of your mother and in later part of your life-old age.

      And recall the occasions when I taught you the Mother/Principal Book and the wisdom; and At-Tor'aat and Al-In'jeel;

      And recall when you used to cast/sculpt from clay bird-like structure with My permission; thereat you used to blew in it whereby for reason of My permission it became a living bird;

      And recall when you with My permission used to heal those suffering from blindness and vitiligo;

      And that when you used to restore to life the naturally/clinically dead with My will;

      And recall the execution conspiracy when I restrained the hands of Bani Iesraa'eel from reaching you/rescued you from their hands;

      At the point in time you having brought to them unprecedented demonstrative displays one group amongst them who had refused to accept said "this is nothing except an evident illusion".

      Ayah 5109-120

        I do not think that solves any question, because some of the things of the past re in perfect tense and some are in imperfect. iIf what yous ay were true all of them would be in one tense or the other not some in one and some in another.

        Salaam

          This is how it appears to me as per Arabic text

          When Allah said Oh Issa ibn Maryam remember my blessing on you and on your mother when I strengthened you with Rooh ul qudus.

          (since you were strengthened) You will talk to people in softness and ease as well as strength

          When I gave you knowledge of the book and wisdom and Al-Torah and Al-Injeel

          and (with that knowledge) when you will create from Al-teen like a bird with my izn then blow into her so it will become a bird with my izn

          and you will cure the blind and the leper with my izn

          and when you will bring out the dead with my izn

          (
          and when I restrained bani israel from you when you brought to them clear signs and those who did kuffar among them said its nothing but a clear deceit.

          Please note the tense used at red parts in above ayats.

            It is well arranged if you are convicned that it cannot be but what the past indicates in those occasions where the past is used that it is also exactly the same where the umperfect tense is used, but I find soem problems with that

            you write (between brackets) "with that knowledge", parallel to the "since you were strengthened" where the tense is imperfect also but in a wholy different construction, biruh al qudus tukallimu annaas.
            But there is not such a construction in the phrases that follow "al tawrat wa al injil", rather there is the "idh" particle which is used in exactly the same way to link the phrases with the perfect and the imperfect tense

            Then will Allah say "O Jesus the son of Mary! Recount My favour to thee and to thy mother.

            IDH I strengthened thee with the holy spirit, so that thou didst speak to the people in childhood and in maturity.

              If somebody can think of a paragraph similar to this where the same kind of grammatical arrangemente takes place it might be the most very enlightning. I am trying to think of such one, but as yet I have not succeeded.

              Another question is, if the perfect tense is meant what is preventing the text in these sentences to use de perfect tense

              and IDH thou makest out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, by My leave, and thou breathest into it and it becometh a bird by My leave, and thou healest those born blind, and the lepers, by My leave

              and IDH thou bringest forth the dead by My leave

              ?

              For instance

              and IDH thou made out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, by My leave, and thou breathed into it and it became a bird by My leave, and thou healed those born blind, and the lepers, by My leave

              and IDH thou brought forth the dead by My leave

              Salaam and thank you again.

                  I put it in capitals so that it is well seen in the whole.

                    Salaam huruf

                    It is well arranged if you are convinced that it cannot be but what the past indicates in those occasions where the past is used and that it is also exactly the same where the imperfect tense is used, but I find some problems with that

                    Lets see this sentence in English language where perfect and imperfect tenses are used.

                    When I told him, "you will talk to people with the knowledge I gave you."

                    you write (between brackets) "with that knowledge", parallel to the "since you were strengthened" where the tense is imperfect also but in a wholy different construction, "biruh al qudus tukallimu annaas".

                    "with that knowledge" as I understand refers to when I strengthened you with rooh ul qudus. Rooh ul qudus is understood as Jabriel by some and as revelation/wahi by some. If it is wahi then next sentence connects, that (using this wahi) you will talk to people.

                    But there is not such a construction in the phrases that follow "al tawrat wa al injil", rather there is the "wa idh" particles which are used in exactly the same way to link the phrases with the perfect and the imperfect tense

                    And when I gave you knowledge of the book and the wisdom and the Torah and the Injeel. You will cure people (with this knowledge)

                    This is how I see it going.
